Bills signed LB Gerald Hodges to a one-year contract.
Hodges started 12 games for the 49ers in 2016 and was their best run defender. Despite being in the prime of his career and coming off of a good season, it took a lot of visits for Hodges to finally find a home. The Bills are getting a quality player, likely at a good value. May 25 - 11:22 AM

Free agent ILB Gerald Hodges is visiting the Bills on Monday and Giants on Tuesday.

An underrated player, Hodges' market seems to finally be in full swing after he visited the Colts, Patriots, and Jaguars last week. He should find a new home in the near future.

Free agent ILB Gerald Hodges visited the Colts on Tuesday and will be visiting the Patriots and Jaguars later this week.

The Colts are still looking to improve their front seven but let Hodges leave without a contract. The Patriots or Jaguars could get a value signing. He was a strong run defender for the 49ers last year and is in the prime of his career. Hodges previously visited the Chiefs, Seahawks, and Jets.

Free agent ILB Gerald Hodges is visiting the Jets on Wednesday.

Hodges has visited the Chiefs and Seahawks in recent months but remains on the open market despite a strong season in run defense last year with the 49ers. He'd be a quality add at this stage of the offseason.

Free agent ILB Gerald Hodges will visit the Seahawks on Wednesday.

Hodges, 26, visited the Chiefs on the opening day of free agency but hasn't been heard from since. He started 12 games for the 49ers last season, playing 584 snaps total, and receiving strong marks from PFF for his run defense.

Profootballtalk.com reports free agent ILB Gerald Hodges is visiting the Chiefs.

The 49ers' best run defender last season, Hodges is a potential value signing and a smart target for the Chiefs, who are dealing with an Achilles' injury to aging ILB Derrick Johnson. Hodges turned 26 two months ago.

49ers DC Jim O'Neil said there will be a three-way competition at linebacker.

Gerald Hodges got the first-team reps on Wednesday, but O'Neil said Hodges, Ray-Ray Armstrong and Michael Wilhoite will see equal time with the first-team throughout OTAs. Wilhoite started the first 12 games last year, but a late-season ankle injury opened the door for Hodges, who was acquired via trade in October. Armstrong will get his shot, but the competition will likely come down to Hodges and Wilhoite.

49ers ILB Gerald Hodges will draw his first start with the team Week 14 against the Browns.

With Michael Wilhoite (ankle) out, Hodges will get the nod next to fellow Penn State alum NaVorro Bowman. An athletic former safety, Hodges has shown well in coverage throughout his career and contributed six tackles last week in relief duties. Hodges was acquired from the Vikings in October in exchange for C Nick Easton and a sixth-round pick.

49ers acquired LB Gerald Hodges from the Vikings in exchange for C Nick Easton and a sixth-round pick.

It's a nifty pick up for the 49ers. Hodges, who was effective at outside linebacker in 2014, is Pro Football Focus' No. 14 (of 51) inside 'backer thus far this season. The 49ers could be hoping he's an upgrade on Michael Wilhoite opposite Navorro Bowman.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Gerald Hodges will remain the team's starting middle linebacker.

The Vikings were gashed by Carlos Hyde Week 1. Hodges and WLB Chad Greenway were two of the biggest reasons why, but no one on the defense played particularly well. The whole unit will hope for a bounce-back performance this week against the Lions.

Gerald Hodges is expected to open the season as the Vikings' starting middle linebacker.

Second-round pick Eric Kendricks is the future at the position, but coach Mike Zimmer has a history of slowplaying rookies. Hodges is one of the Vikings' best three linebackers right now, along with WLB Chad Greenway and SLB Anthony Barr. It's unclear if Hodges will play full time in Week 1, however.

The Vikings will start Gerald Hodges at middle linebacker in their regular season dress rehearsal.

Audie Cole started the first two preseason games, and rookie Eric Kendricks got the nod last week. Coach Mike Zimmer claims he does not view the penultimate preseason game as a dress rehearsal, but the reality is the Vikings' starters will play more snaps than they have all preseason. Hodges starting this game is a good sign for his role moving forward, but the starting job is still up for grabs. Kendricks is expected to play with the first-team nickel package.

Vikings LB Gerald Hodges is listed as doubtful for Week 8 with a hamstring injury.

Hodges got in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday, but appears unlikely to play. Chad Greenway has regained his starting job at weak-side linebacker, racking up 15 tackles in last week's loss to Buffalo.

Second-year LB Gerald Hodges received some work with the first-team defense at Vikings OTAs.

He's competing in a crowded linebacker corps. Hodges' best fit is weak-side 'backer, but Chad Greenway has that position locked down, and first-round pick Anthony Barr is manning the strong side. Audie Cole and Jasper Brinkely are vying in the middle. In all likelihood, Hodges will enter the season playing special teams and as the primary backup at both outside linebacker spots.

Vikings agreed to terms with No. 120 overall pick LB Gerald Hodges on a four-year contract.

A pure outside 'backer, Hodges is currently penciled in on the weak side for Minnesota. Hodges is not an elite athlete (4.78 40-yard dash), but has adequate size (6-foot-1, 243 pounds) and is a strong tackler. He could develop into a multi-year starter.
