Bills second-year SS Jonathan Meeks "could push for the starting spot" opposite Aaron Williams.
Meeks was limited to special teams as a rookie, and appeared in just eight games due to injury. He could be a sleeper for the Bills' strong safety job over Duke Williams and Da'Norris Searcy. It's possible Searcy will end up the nominal starter and play in base sets, with one of Meeks or Williams replacing him in sub-packages. Jun 28 - 4:49 PM

Bills GM Doug Whaley mentioned S Jonathan Meeks as a candidate to start opposite Aaron Williams.

A 2013 fifth-round pick, Meeks appeared in just eight games as a rookie and spent most of the season on injured reserve. The Bills are considering Meeks, Duke Williams, and Corey Graham as in-house options to replace Jairus Byrd.

Bills activated S Jonathan Meeks (ankle) from injured reserve/designated to return.

A fifth-round rookie, Meeks was contributing special teams before going down in early October. He's unlikely to see much, if any, time on defense over the season's final three weeks.

Bills agreed to terms with No. 143 overall pick S Jonathan Meeks on a four-year contract.

Meeks is a 6-foot-1, 209-pound thumper, but the presence of fellow rookie S Duke Williams means he's unlikely to see much time on defense in 2013. Meeks has the skills to eventually crack the secondary, but should focus on special teams this season.

Bills selected Clemson SS Jonathan Meeks with the No. 143 overall pick.

A thumping safety at 6-foot 3/8, 209, Meeks ran a 4.55 at his Pro Day with a 33 1/2-inch vertical and 23 reps on the bench. He was not invited to the Combine. Meeks made 24 starts in his college career, recording seven interceptions. Strong safety is a need position in Buffalo -- Da'Norris Searcy is penciled in as the starter -- but Meeks figures to focus on special teams initially.
