Lions signed TE Luke Willson, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
After losing Darren Fells as a free agent and then cutting Eric Ebron to see him sign with the Colts, Willson is now penciled in as the Lions' No. 1 tight end. The 28-year-old caught 89 balls for 1,129 yards and 11 touchdowns in his five seasons with Seattle. There should be more opportunity in Detroit. Mar 21 - 9:39 AM

Free agent TE Luke Willson will visit the Lions on Saturday.

He left his Carolina and Jacksonville visits without a deal. Willson has never been more than a No. 2 tight end, but he would give Detroit a proven veteran after moving on from Eric Ebron.

Free agent TE Luke Willson will visit the Jaguars on Friday.

He met with Carolina earlier this week. The Jaguars are also hosting ex-Jet Austin Seferian-Jenkins on Thursday. Wilson has never topped 400 receiving yards in a season and would likely serve as a blocking tight end in Jacksonville.

Free agent Luke Willson is visiting the Panthers.

Willson spent the first five years of his career in Seattle but is expected to move on. He broke out for four touchdowns last season and offers some red-zone presence to go with his solid blocking. The Panthers need a No. 2 tight end to replace Ed Dickson.
Mar 14 - 5:25 PM

Luke Willson caught 3-of-4 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 3 loss to the Titans.

The Seahawks' No. 2 tight end is sitting on a 6/78/1 line through three games. He will have TE2 appeal if Jimmy Graham misses any time this season.

Seahawks re-signed TE Luke Willson to a one-year contract.

The deal includes an $800,000 signing bonus. Seattle had a brief flirtation with Jared Cook but decided to bring back Willson after Cook signed with Oakland. Per ESPN's Adam Caplan, the deal is worth "up to" $3 million. Willson will resume his role as Jimmy Graham's primary backup. 27-year-old Willson has never caught more than 22 passes in a season.

Free agent TE Luke Willson intends to test the open market.

Reporter Bob Condotta believes the 'Hawks would "undoubtedly love" to re-sign their 2013 fifth-rounder, but "only at the right price." Willson was a tool-sy project coming out of Rice, but has never developed into much of a blocker. He does have 74 career catches. Standing in at 6-foot-5, 252 pounds with 4.5 wheels, Willson could tempt some teams on the open market.

Luke Willson wasn't target in the Seahawks' Divisional Round loss to the Falcons.

Willson was evaluated for a concussion, but cleared. A decisive No. 2 behind Jimmy Graham this season, Willson caught 15 passes for 129 yards and two scores. Now 27, Willson is headed to free agency. He was an intriguing prospect in the 2013 Draft, but has given little reason to believe he'll ever develop into a fantasy option.

Luke Willson caught 3-of-3 targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 15 win over the Rams.

Somehow, Willson out-targeted Jimmy Graham 3-2. It was brutal for Graham's fantasy owners, but not a harbinger of things to come.

Seahawks TE Luke Willson exited Week 12 against the Bucs with a knee injury.

Coach Pete Carroll said after the game he is dealing with a first-degree sprain. Willson missed several games with a knee injury earlier this season, but this is a different issue. He could be headed for injured reserve.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Luke Willson (knee) will play against the Eagles in Week 11.

He was expected to return Sunday against New England but the Seahawks played it safe by keeping him out another week. Willson has logged just six catches for 50 yards this year. He's not a fantasy factor.
