Free agent OLB Brandon Jenkins worked out for the Colts Saturday.
A 2013 fifth-round pick of the Redskins, Jenkins was active for just five games as a rookie. He would provide depth at rush linebacker with Robert Mathis suspended the first four weeks, but doesn't contribute on special teams. The Colts are also working out former Texans OLB Mister Alexander. Sat, Aug 9, 2014 04:49:00 PM

Redskins waived OLB Brandon Jenkins.

Jenkins appeared to be a future NFL phenom when he racked up 13 1/2 sacks as a 20-year-old true sophomore at Florida State, but debilitating knee injuries cost him explosion, and he couldn't get on the field as a fifth-round rookie in 2013. Perhaps a pass rush-needy team will take a flier on waivers.

Redskins second-year OLB Brandon Jenkins faces "long odds" of making the 53-man roster.

Jenkins showed very little on defense during his rookie season, and was regularly scratched on game days due to a lack of special teams value. If the Skins keep only four outside linebackers, Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, rookie Trent Murphy, and trusty reserve Rob Jackson have big advantages on Jenkins.

The Washington Post believes Redskins second-year OLB Brandon Jenkins needs to have a strong summer to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.

Jenkins was fifth-round pick last year, but likely would have gone higher had he not missed all but one game as a senior with a Lisfranc injury. DC Jim Haslett praised Jenkins' athleticism and pass-rushing skills last summer. He ended up playing only 41 defensive snaps. Jenkins is currently Washington's No. 5 outside 'backer. He needs to show well on special teams in exhibition action.

Redskins rookie OLB Brandon Jenkins exited Sunday's Week 3 game against the Lions with a right ankle injury and will not return.

The fifth-round pick out of Florida State was injured very early in the first half. Jenkins played just 16 snaps on defense in the first two games.

Redskins DC Jim Haslett is "very high" on fifth-round OLB Brandon Jenkins' "athleticism" and "pass-rushing skills."

Jenkins missed all but one game as a senior at Florida State due to a Lisfranc fracture. He was extremely productive in 2010 and 2011, recording 21.5 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss while having the looks of a future first-rounder. Haslett said he's looking for ways to get all four of Jenkins, Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, and Rob Jackson on the field at the same time.

Redskins signed fifth-round OLB Brandon Jenkins to a four-year contract.

Jenkins flashed productive pass-rush ability early in his FSU career and was worth a late-round stab, but he's been incredibly injury prone and struggled mightily with his health and test times during the pre-draft process. Jenkins is a candidate to "redshirt" his rookie year, and perhaps contribute in 2014.

Redskins selected FSU OLB Brandon Jenkins with the No. 162 overall pick.

Jenkins (6-foot-2, 251) missed all but one game in 2012 with a Lisfranc fracture in his left foot. In 2010 and 2011, he amassed 21.5 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss, and had the look of a future first-rounder. Jenkins ran forty times of 5.07 and 5.09 at FSU's March 19 Pro Day, indicating he may still not be recovered. At this point, he looks like a long shot for a productive NFL career. He will likely make the transition to stand up pass rusher.
