Browns waived S Jamoris Slaughter.
Some Browns beat writers laughably put Slaughter in the mix to start at free safety last year, but he was never seen that way by the coaching staff, and got cut late last August. He projects as a special teams player only. Mon, Jun 9, 2014 04:40:00 PM

Browns waived S Jamoris Slaughter.

A sixth-round pick, Slaughter was medically cleared for camp, but missed the entire offseason program as he recovered from a torn Achilles' tendon. Slaughter missed his entire senior year at Notre Dame. A hard-hitter, Slaughter could be a candidate for the practice squad, but might also be damaged goods.

Browns S Jamoris Slaughter (Achilles) reported to training camp on Monday and was able to practice.

Slaughter was medically cleared despite missing the Browns' entire offseason program. He won't push Johnson Bademosi or Tashaun Gipson for a starting job, but will look to provide depth and contribute on special teams.

Browns sixth-round FS Jamoris Slaughter (Achilles) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Slaughter is 10 months removed from a torn Achilles' tendon and will likely be limited early in camp. Even if healthy, Slaughter is not a realistic candidate for any playing time outside of special teams as a rookie.

Browns sixth-round S Jamoris Slaughter (Achilles') has been cleared for all activity.

Slaughter tore his ACL in September of his senior year at Notre Dame. He insists he won't be limited when training camp begins as he battles for reps at free safety and on special teams.

Browns agreed to terms with No. 175 overall pick S Jamoris Slaughter on a four-year contract.

Slaughter missed his entire senior year with a torn Achilles' tendon, and is questionable for training camp. Although the Browns have a hole at free safety, Slaughter should be a strict special teamer as a rookie.

New Browns S Jamoris Slaughter (Achilles) expects to be ready for training camp.

Slaughter went down in September. Despite his optimistic outlook, he'll almost certainly begin camp on the active/PUP list, with reserve/PUP a strong possibility to begin the season. If Slaughter contributes in 2013, it will be on special teams.

Browns selected Notre Dame Jamoris Slaughter with the No. 175 overall pick.

Slaughter (6-foot, 195) was denied a sixth year of NCAA eligibility after missing nearly all of 2012 with torn Achilles' tendon. A safety/linebacker hybrid for the Irish, Slaughter made four career tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He did 19 bench-press reps before the draft and projects as an NFL special teamer. Eventually, he'll try to find a niche with the Browns as a hard-hitting free safety.
