Dustin Hopkins is outperforming Zach Hocker early in camp.
Hopkins is showing a stronger leg and has been more accurate. It's a fantasy situation to watch as the winner of this battle will be playing 10 games in a dome this season. It's also likely that Drew Brees' red-zone efficiency will wane without Jimmy Graham. Aug 3 - 10:20 AM

Saints signed K Dustin Hopkins to their practice squad.

It's a strange move as NFL teams rarely waste practice squad spots on kickers. Although Shayne Graham missed a 51-yarder Monday night, he's still 19-of-22 on the year. We still like Graham as a solid fantasy kicking play at home against the Falcons Sunday as long as there's no funny business going on with Hopkins.

Coach Doug Marrone referred to second-year K Dustin Hopkins as strictly a kickoff specialist.

The Bills used a sixth-round pick on the heavy-legged Hopkins last year, but he ended up missing the entire season with a groin injury. Buffalo then signed Dan Carpenter, who went on to make nearly 92 percent of his field goals. The Bills then inked Carpenter to a four-year extension. Hopkins' roster chances are slim.

The Bills are considering keeping two kickers for the 2014 season.

The Bills recently signed Dan Carpenter to a four-year, $9.9 million extension, but used the No. 177 pick of last year's draft on Dustin Hopkins, who missed his entire rookie year with a groin injury. The idea would be to have Carpenter handle field goals and Hopkins man kickoffs. When it comes time to cut the roster down to 53 players, we highly doubt the Bills will have the stones to keep two kickers. It wouldn't be smart.

Bills placed K Dustin Hopkins on injured reserve with a groin injury, ending his season.

The No. 177 pick of April's draft is done after never attempting a regular-season kick. The Bills are going forward with Dan Carpenter at kicker. Hopkins will have his draft status working in his favor, but won't be guaranteed a roster spot next summer.

Bills K Dustin Hopkins (groin) will not play in Thursday's Week 5 game against the Browns.

Hopkins went down right before Week 1 and still isn't ready. Backup Dan Carpenter won't be a strong fantasy option as E.J. Manuel projects to struggle against the Browns nasty front seven.

Bills K Dustin Hopkins (groin) could return to practice this week.

Hopkins was a non-participant in practice Wednesday and is considered day to day. Dan Carpenter will kick again this week if Hopkins isn't ready to return.

Bills K Dustin Hopkins (groin) has been ruled out for Week 1.

Hopkins is out indefinitely after suffering a groin injury in Monday's practice. Dan Carpenter will handle all kicking duties until he's ready to return.

Bills agreed to terms with No. 177 overall pick K Dustin Hopkins on a four-year contract.

One of the top kickers in the country last season, Hopkins should punch Rian Lindell's ticket out of town provided he doesn't bomb early in camp. Hopkins' 466 career points are an NCAA record for a kicker. He could prove a fine streaming option before the weather turns ugly in Buffalo.

Bills selected FSU K Dustin Hopkins with the No. 177 overall pick.

Hopkins has been considered one of the top kickers in the country since high school. As a senior, Hopkins was 25 for 30 in field goal attempts, including a 4-for-5 performance against the rival Miami Hurricanes. Hopkins also became the NCAA FBS all-time kick scorer with 459 points. He can also kick off.
