Chargers placed OLB Tourek Williams on injured reserve with a broken foot, ending his season.
Williams broke his foot midway through training camp. Per reporter Michael Gehlken, Williams had been the Chargers' most-improved player before going down. The fact that the Bolts waited three months to place him on injured reserve would speak to that. Headed into the final year of his rookie contract, Williams will have a bead on a roster spot next season. Tue, Nov 3, 2015 04:19:00 PM

Chargers OLB Tourek Williams suffered a broken right foot in Thursday's preseason opener and will need surgery.

Williams played 133 snaps as a deep-reserve sixth-round rookie last season, failing to notch a sack. With Dwight Freeney out of the picture this year, Williams was expected to compete for the No. 3 edge-rusher job behind starters Melvin Ingram and Jeremiah Attaochu. San Diego severely lacks depth at the position.

Chargers agreed to terms with No. 179 overall pick OLB Tourek Williams on a four-year contract.

Williams led FIU with 6.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss as a senior, but he'll likely see most of his action on special teams as a rookie.

Chargers selected Florida International DE Tourek Williams with the No. 179 overall pick.

Williams (6-2, 260) paced Florida International in tackles for loss (14.5) and sacks (6.5) as a senior. He's the best pass rusher to emerge from FIU since Antwan Barnes. Williams has explosiveness off the snap, but is often engulfed by blockers due to short arms (32 1/2"). He projects as a situational nickel end and special teamer for the Bolts.
