Mychal Rivera caught three passes for 42 yards in the Raiders' third preseason game.
Rivera remained Derek Carr's chain-moving safety valve, making tough catches over the middle. There was early-camp talk of Rivera losing his starting job to rookie Clive Walford, but Walford has missed almost all of training camp with a hamstring injury. Through three preseason affairs, Rivera has four catches for 61 yards. He'll be a low-ceiling TE2 in fantasy this season. Aug 30 - 11:00 PM

Raiders TE Mychal Rivera opened with the first-team offense in the Raiders' opening preseason game.

Rookie Clive Walford got first-team run, but it was late in the first quarter. Rivera still appears to be leading the tight end competition, but Walford is pushing. Neither player is likely to develop into a fantasy asset this season.

ESPN Raiders reporter Bill Williamson expects TE Mychal Rivera to open the season as the starter.

We'll see. The low-upside and plodding Rivera will be pushed hard by third-round rookie Clive Walford, who drew some Dwayne Allen comps during the pre-draft process. There could also be room for both tight ends to play together as Rivera is more of a "move" tight end and Walford profiles in-line. Neither one has a very appetizing fantasy outlook.

Mychal Rivera caught two passes for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss at Denver.

Rivera is not especially fast, strong or big. But he got a lot of volume from Derek Carr this season leading to a reasonable 58-534-4 line as an NFL sophomore. Of course, it took Rivera 93 targets to get there, a number that should be reduced if the Raiders can ever get some talent on their team. This is not a player we'd be chasing in 2015 fantasy circles.

Mychal Rivera caught one pass for five yards in the Raiders' Week 16 win over the Bills.

He was targeted four times. On his lone catch, Rivera fought hard for a first down. He was later targeted in the end zone, but Derek Carr overthrew him on the play. Rivera has flashed at times this season. He and the Raiders head to Denver to close out the season in Week 17.

Mychal Rivera caught 7-of-12 targets for 39 yards Week 15 against the Chiefs.

Rivera almost caught a garbage-time touchdown but had the ball knocked out of his hands in the end zone. Rivera is getting the targets, but he is struggling to do much with them. He is a TE2 in standard leagues with some touchdown upside.

Mychal Rivera secured 7-of-7 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' Week 14 win over the 49ers.

Rivera was highly efficient in this one as the 49ers frequently left him uncovered over the middle and up the seam. He scored his five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, bodying CB Leon McFadden out of the play to give the Raiders a 24-13 lead. Rivera has been a highly inconsistent fantasy performer this year. He'll be a fringe TE1 when the Raiders travel to Arrowhead Stadium in Week 15.

Raiders FB Marcel Reece rushed twice for two yards and caught seven balls for 64 yards and a touchdown in Oakland's Week 14 win over the 49ers.

The Raiders used Reece heavily as a passing-game dump-off option and he responded with a productive day, scoring his touchdown from nine yards out in the third quarter. With Latavius Murray taking over as Oakland's feature back, versatile Reece makes sense as his pass-game complement. Reece would still be a tough sell as more than a desperation flex option in Week 15 against Kansas City.

Mychal Rivera secured 3-of-8 targets for 21 yards in the Raiders' Week 13 loss to the Rams.

The theoretical usage was there for Rivera, but he isn't a very good player. Coming back to the pack in a hurry since his red-hot Weeks 8-10 run, Rivera has revealed himself as far more of a fantasy TE2 than legitimate TE1.

Mychal Rivera caught 1-of-4 targets for eight yards in Oakland's Week 12 win over the Chiefs.

Rivera now has just four grabs for 48 yards on nine targets over his past two games. He's going to remain a part of the Raiders' game plan going forward, but won't be a recommended Week 13 streaming option against a Rams defense that puts the clampdown on tight ends.

Mychal Rivera caught 3-of-5 targets for 40 yards in the Raiders' Week 11 loss to the Chargers.

Rivera's step back after his hot three-game run is, No. 1: A reminder that the Chargers allow the fewest fantasy points to tight ends, and No. 2: A reminder that Rivera is a sub-par talent who desperately requires heavy volume to pay fantasy dividends. He'll be a borderline TE1 in Week 12 against the Chiefs.

Mychal Rivera secured 6-of-8 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' Week 10 loss to the Broncos.

Rivera saved his otherwise sluggish fantasy performance with an 18-yard garbage-time touchdown. Rivera has now posted stat lines of 8-73, 8-38-2, and 6-64-1 the past three weeks. Unfortunately, in Week 11 the Raiders face a Chargers defense that allows the fewest fantasy points in the league to tight ends. Rivera will be a low-end TE1 streamer.

The Raiders reportedly consider TE Mychal Rivera a "key" piece.

Derek Carr is developing some serious trust with Rivera. Over the last two weeks, the second-year tight end has piled up 15-121-2 on 20 targets after posting just 13 catches in the first six games combined. An underwhelming athlete and playmaker, Rivera needs that kind of volume if he's going to land on the streaming TE1 map. Given that the Raiders project to be trailing big early against the Broncos Sunday, Rivera should pile up targets once again.

Mychal Rivera caught eight balls for 38 yards and two touchdowns on 11 targets in the Raiders' Week 9 loss to Seattle.

Rivera scored each of the Raiders' offensive touchdowns, getting in front of Richard Sherman on the first and hauling in Derek Carr's bootleg flip in what amounted to fourth-quarter garbage time on the second. The rest of his catches were made around the line of scrimmage and for minimal gains. As Rivera's usage has grown in Oakland's offense the past two weeks, he'll be worth a look as a desperation TE1 streamer in next week's clash with the Broncos.

Mychal Rivera secured 7-of-9 targets for 83 yards in the Raiders' Week 8 loss to the Browns.

All but absent from Oakland's offense in their last two games, Rivera came through with several clutch catches for first downs against the Browns. Undersized with 4.81 speed, Rivera remains a TE2 in fantasy leagues.
