Bengals OC Hue Jackson praised 2013 sixth-round WR Cobi Hamilton's practice reps from last season.
"Hamilton made spectacular plays in practice and I watched him improve every week," said Jackson. "We have a very talented wide receiver group but I don’t think you can ever have too much. It’s going to be fun to see where he fits because he's a big physical player." Hamilton faces long odds of a prominent offensive role but he possesses tackle-shedding ability and is a plus blocker. Bengals signed WR Cobi Hamilton, C T.J. Johnson, DE David King, CB Onterio McCalebb, LB Bruce Taylor, and C Scott Wedige to reserve/future contracts.

Hamilton was the Bengals' sixth-round pick last April. He spent all of 2013 on the practice squad after being drafted out of Arkansas. Hamilton will be a long shot for a 2014 job behind A.J. Green, Marvin Jones, Andrew Hawkins, and Mohamed Sanu. The Bengals also have Dane Sanzenbacher and Ryan Whalen.

Bengals waived WR Cobi Hamilton.

Hamilton was Tyler Wilson's top target at Arkansas last season, racking up a 90/1355/5 line. But the sixth-round rookie ran a mere 4.56 at the Combine and failed to distinguish himself as a possession receiver at camp. Hamilton is a candidate for the practice squad. He lost out to Dane Sanzenbacher.

Bengals signed sixth-round WR Cobi Hamilton to a four-year contract.

Hamilton (6-foot-1 3/4, 212) lacks top-end speed and is more of a possession receiver who catches slant routes and breaks tackles. He's also a solid blocker on the outside. Hamilton doesn't project as much more than a No. 4 or 5 receiver for the Bengals. He'll compete for a roster spot this summer.

Bengals selected Arkansas WR Cobi Hamilton with the No. 197 overall pick.

Hamilton (6-foot-1 3/4, 212) emerged as Tyler Wilson's go-to target as a senior, catching 90 balls for 1,335 yards (14.8 YPR) and five touchdowns. Hamilton lacks top-end speed (4.56 forty) and has small hands (8 3/4") with a tendency to let passes get into his body rather than secure them naturally. His biggest plus is physicality, as Hamilton is a post-catch tackle breaker and fierce blocker with some Anquan Boldin to his game. The team drafted a possession receiver in Sanu last year, and Hamilton wins underneath on slants and crosses.
