Free agents WR Justin McCareins and CB Reynaldo Hill have yet to hear from the Titans about the possibility of being re-signed.
Neither player should be holding his breath. McCareins will be lucky to catch on elsewhere as a fifth receiver, and the Titans soured on Hill after he lost his starting job early in 2007 and finished the past two seasons on injured reserve. Wed, Apr 8, 2009 11:05:00 AM

The Titans are denying that they have re-signed WR Justin McCareins.

ESPN's Len Pasquerelli reported the signing earlier in the day, but he also reported that McCareins was a "reliable" and "effective" wide receiver. Said McCareins' agent: "There's not truth to it at all. He'd love to come back, but we haven't talked to them. Justin and I got a good laugh out of it, though."

Titans have reportedly re-signed WR Justin McCareins to a one-year, $730,000 contract.

More of the same for the Titans at wide receiver. What they need is a playmaker to pair with Justin Gage, not a return of one of least productive receivers in the game. They may still acquire an upgrade this offseason to push McCareins down to the No. 3 or No. 4 spot.

The player rep for free agent Justin McCareins says the Titans have not had contact with his client since season's end.

McCareins showed that he had very little left in 10 starts last season, and also dealt with a number of injuries. He's not going to appeal to many teams.

Titans WR Justin McCareins' second stint in Tennessee is likely over.

McCareins was on a one-year deal as a favorite of offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, but the No. 2 receiver spot was a glaring weakness all season long. The Titans need to make it a priority to find a playmaker opposite Justin Gage this offseason.

Justin McCareins was held to 24 yards on two receptions against the Ravens in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

McCareins came out of the gates with a 17-yard gain on the first play, but he was noticeably absent the rest of the way while Justin Gage carried the passing game. The Titans need to find a playmaking upgrade at No. 2 receiver next season.

Justin McCareins caught six balls for 55 yards in Week 16 against the Steelers.

A nice day by QB Kerry Collins allowed a few of the Titans' receivers to post numbers beyond their norm. We wouldn't expect it to keep up.

Justin McCareins caught two passes for 43 yards in a Week 13 win.

He played behind Brandon Jones, but they were used in a rotation and McCareins saw more targets (four to Jones' two). Jones is the better talent.

Justin McCareins is not on the Titans' Week 12 injury report.

It's unknown if he will resume starting over Brandon Jones, who's emerged as the Titans' second-best wideout. McCareins is far from a fantasy option.

Titans declared WR Justin McCareins, QB Chris Simms, WR Chris Davis, CB Nick Harper, RB Chris Henry, T Michael Otto, DE Jason Jones, DE Kyle Vanden Bosch inactive for Week 11 against the Jaguars.

McCareins is not yet ready to return after suffering a concussion against the Bears last week. Brandon Jones will start in his place and could see a decent number of targets.

Justin McCareins (questionable, concussion) missed his third straight day of Titans practice Friday.

McCareins is highly unlikely to be in uniform against Jacksonville. Brandon Jones will play opposite Justin Gage and is a sleeper for a strong Week 11.

Justin McCareins (concussion) couldn't practice again on Thursday.

Brandon Jones is setup to make the start Sunday versus Jacksonville.

Justin McCareins (concussion) missed Titans practice Wednesday.

McCareins will probably be replaced by Brandon Jones outside in Week 11.

Titans WR Justin McCareins suffered a concussion against the Bears in Week 10.

No word yet on whether McCareins is expected to play this week at Jacksonville. Brandon Jones has emerged as a better option, so McCareins won't have fantasy value regardless.

Justin McCareins caught three passes for 42 yards in Week 9.

McCareins hauled in a key back-shoulder pass late in the game, but he still has trouble gaining separation from corners. As proof of his fantasy irrelevance, McCareins is on pace for just 400 yards this season.
