Texans placed TE Ryan Griffin on injured reserve with a concussion, ending his season.
That opens up a roster spot for C.J. Fiedorowicz, who is being activated from injured reserve after suffering a concussion of his own in Week 1. Griffin accrued 13 catches for 158 yards and one touchdown over 349 offensive snaps this season. Nov 10 - 2:46 PM

Date:

Texans TE Ryan Griffin (concussion) didn't practice on Wednesday.

Griffin was concussed in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. With C.J. Fiedorowicz expected to return this week, Griffin is no longer a streaming option.
Nov 8 - 4:23 PM

Texans TE Ryan Griffin is week to week with a concussion.

Griffin went down in the first half, and was ruled out in the first quarter. Concerningly, it's Griffin's second concussion of the year. With Tom Savage torpedoing the Texans' offense, Griffin had yet to be targeted. Stephen Anderson will finish the game as the No. 1 tight end.
Nov 5 - 3:06 PM

Ryan Griffin hauled in 1-of-2 targets for 10 yards in the Texans' Week 8 loss to the Seahawks.

It was a disappointing performance in a game Deshaun Watson threw for 402 yards. Even in a good matchup against the Colts, Griffin will just be a low-end streamer next week.
Oct 29 - 8:24 PM

Ryan Griffin caught 3-of-8 targets for 52 yards with a two-point conversion in Sunday's Week 6 win over the Browns.

The eight targets were a season-high and the yards were the most Griffin has posted since Week 3. Griffin added to his totals by catching a two-point conversion to put Houston up 24-3 right before halftime. This was as good of a matchup Griffin was going to have as he remains nothing more than a streaming option for the remainder of the season. Houston is on bye this upcoming week.
Oct 15 - 5:29 PM

Ryan Griffin caught 2-of-4 passes for 22 yards in Week 5 against Kansas City.

Griffin wasn't a factor despite Deshaun Watson throwing five touchdowns. He remains behind DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller for red-zone targets. Griffin will take a 9/96/1 line into Week 6.
Oct 9 - 1:04 AM

Ryan Griffin caught 2-of-5 targets for 13 yards in the Texans' Week 4 win over the Titans.

The targets were there for Griffin, but he didn't convert as he did in last week's loss to New England. While Griffin has a big role, he will not be trustworthy in fantasy for Week 5 against Kansas City.
Oct 1 - 4:30 PM

Ryan Griffin hauled in 5-of-6 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' Week 3 loss to the Patriots.

Griffin has taken over as the No. 1 tight end, and he made the targets count against the Patriots. His touchdown came on a great throw from Deshaun Watson in the back of the end zone. Griffin will be up and down in this offense with Stephen Anderson hanging around, but he should have some streaming appeal.
Sep 24 - 6:15 PM

Ryan Griffin is out of the league's concussion protocol.

Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Griffin should be good to go in a homecoming game against the Patriots. He played college ball at UConn.
Sep 20 - 1:01 PM

Texans coach Bill O'Brien is hopeful TE Ryan Griffin (concussion) returns this week.

He said the same about TE Stephen Anderson, who is also dealing with a concussion. Griffin should handle the bulk of the tight end work once healthy, but Anderson has more upside as a pass catcher and could work his way into a big role. Neither player will be an exciting streaming option this week against the Patriots.
Sep 18 - 12:19 PM

Texans TE Ryan Griffin (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2.

Fellow concussed TE Stephen Anderson has also been ruled out. Houston is down to only Evan Baylis at the position. Expect the Texans to try and run the ball as much as humanly possible against Cincinnati.
Sep 13 - 1:41 PM

Texans TE Ryan Griffin is done for the day in Week 1 with a concussion.

He saw one first-half target and was declared done for the day to begin the second half. This will get Stephen Anderson more snaps.
Sep 10 - 2:51 PM

Texans re-signed TE Ryan Griffin to a three-year, $9 million contract with $3.25 million guaranteed.

Griffin was linked to Detroit, but otherwise didn't draw much free-agent interest. He'll return as the No. 2 tight end. With Brock Osweiler gone, Griffin is unlikely to repeat the 74 targets he saw in 2016.
Mar 11 - 6:31 PM

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports the Texans and impending free agent TE Ryan Griffin have "mutual interest."

Griffin broke out somewhat as a pass catcher last season with 50 catches for 442 yards and two touchdowns, and he has always been a solid blocker. In a weak tight end group, he could have a surprisingly robust market.
Mar 7 - 9:24 AM

Texans TE Ryan Griffin went catch-less on two targets in Saturday's Divisional Round loss to the Patriots.

Despite an increased late-season role, Griffin was nowhere to be found in Saturday's loss. Griffin was overthrown on a late Brock Osweiler interception. An impending free agent, Griffin should draw significant interest after his 50-reception contract year. Griffin turned 27 this month and has emerged as a legitimate pass-catching threat.
