Redskins signed DE Stacy McGee, formerly of the Raiders, to a five-year, $25 million contract.
A 3-4 end at 6'3/310, McGee played just 242 snaps last season, missing Weeks 8-10 and 13-17. When on the field, he received strong PFF grades for both his run defense and pass rushing skills. Perhaps the Redskins view him as a 27-year-old on the rise, but Washington's infatuation with handing out big-money deals to more-or-less replacement-level defensive linemen remains curious. ESPN Raiders reporter Paul Gutierrez reports the team is "very high" on second-year DT Stacy McGee.

McGee is currently penciled in as the starter next to Antonio Smith on the interior of Oakland's line. The ends are Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley. McGee, a sixth-round pick last April, started six of the final eight games as a rookie. The Raiders liked his progress as a run defender. McGee will certainly face competition.

Raiders sixth-round rookie DT Stacy McGee says the off-field issues that almost derailed his football career are behind him.

McGee was popped for DUI and on marijuana charges in two separate incidents while at Oklahoma. They surely contributed to his fall to the sixth round of April's draft. He's now been inserted in the starting lineup next to Pat Sims and has drawn praise from his coaches. "He's starting to learn how powerful he is," DC Jason Tarver said. McGee has earned positive marks on 163 snaps.

Raiders signed sixth-round DL Stacy McGee to a four-year contract.

McGee's draft stock took a major hit due to an array of off-the-field issues. He was arrested once on marijuana charges, and was then booked for DUI last December. McGee will compete for a backup defensive tackle spot.

The Raiders believe sixth-round DT Stacy McGee is ready to move on from his off-the-field issues.

McGee was arrested for DUI and marijuana possession at Oklahoma, and was also suspended for unspecified rules violations. "We've had a lot of conversations," coach Dennis Allen said. "I think he understands the mistakes he's made. He's ready to learn and move on from it." Much like Buffalo's Da'Rick Rogers, McGee should be subject to a "one strike and you're out" policy.

Raiders selected Oklahoma DT Stacy McGee with the No. 205 overall pick.

McGee (6-foot-3, 308) is an off-field trainwreck, having been arrested two Februaries ago on marijuana charges and again last December for DUI. He started 15 games for the Sooners and tallied 9.5 career tackles for loss to go with 2.5 sacks. McGee is a former four-star recruit with plenty of talent but far more baggage. In other words, he'll fit right in with the Raiders.
