Ravens waived RB Cierre Wood.

Wood was a priority UDFA addition after the 2013 draft by the Texans and won their No. 3 tailback job. But he got busted for allegedly smoking pot in the team hotel room on a road trip and was waived. Now Wood loses out to Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro for a roster spot in Baltimore.

Ravens signed RB Cierre Wood to a reserve/future contract.

Wood was originally signed two weeks ago, but the deal was voided by the NFL because Wood hadn't been credited with a "credited year." Wood will fight for the Ravens' final running back spot in camp. An undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame, Wood averaged 5.5 yards on 35 preseason carries for the Texans last summer.

Updating an earlier item, the Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are still expected to sign free agent RB Cierre Wood.

Wood's reserve/future deal was voided by the NFL on Monday, but Wood will re-sign with updated contract language. According to reporter Aaron Wilson, Wood wasn't credited for a "credited year" in the initial deal. He should officially be a member of the Ravens within the next 24 hours. One of the league's most impressive undrafted runners last preseason, Wood has a fighting chance at cracking the 53-man roster.

The Ravens' reserve/future contract with RB Cierre Wood has been disapproved by the NFL, making Wood a free agent.

There must have been a holdup in the language of the deal, though no details are available. Wood was one of the most impressive rookie running backs in the 2013 preseason before getting caught allegedly smoking marijuana at the Texans' team hotel in October. He played three games and had three carries.

Ravens signed RB Cierre Wood to a reserve/future contract.

A "name" undrafted free agent, Wood was cut loose by the Texans in October after allegedly smoking marijuana in the team hotel the night before a road game. He spent the final two months of the year on the Patriots' practice squad. Wood averaged 5.5 yards on 35 preseason carries. He'll compete for one of the Ravens' final roster spots in next summer's camp.

Patriots signed RB Cierre Wood to their practice squad.

Wood was waived by the Texans for reportedly smoking marijuana in a hotel room a few weeks back. But he disputes this claim, has passed a drug test and the Patriots are taking a chance on him. Despite going undrafted, Wood has the talent to be an NFL back. LeGarrette Blount is working on a one-year deal.

Free agent RB Cierre Wood passed a drug test shortly after his release by the Texans.

Wood was allegedly waived for smoking marijuana with Sam Montgomery and Willie Jefferson at the Texans' team hotel in Kansas City three weeks ago. The players insist they were smoking a non-marijuana cigar. Wood and Montgomery have since begun to make visits to other teams. Wood visited the Jaguars on Tuesday, and the Bengals offered Montgomery a practice squad spot.

Free agent RB Cierre Wood worked out for the Jaguars Tuesday.

Wood blew a golden opportunity by reportedly smoking a marijuana cigar in a team hotel room while with the Texans a couple weeks ago. He got booted off the team with both Arian Foster (hamstring) and Ben Tate (ribs) banged up. Wood appears in line to get another NFL shot, even if it's not this year.

Updating a previous item, the Texans waived RB Cierre Wood, DE Sam Montgomery, and OLB Willie Jefferson for smoking marijuana at the team hotel in Kansas City.

If true, these three couldn't possibly be any dumber. The players contend they were simply smoking a cigar. Jefferson's agent, Chad Cannon, is considering filing a grievance on the players' behalf. As Texans OLB Brooks Reed notes, the three rookies "just kind of threw the opportunity of their lives away."

Texans waived RB Cierre Wood, DE Sam Montgomery, and OLB Willie Jefferson for violating team rules.

All three players had off-field issues in college, leading to Wood and Jefferson both falling out of April's draft altogether, while Montgomery -- once a projected first-round pick -- slid deep into the third round. This is a huge, knuckleheaded missed opportunity for Wood, who was in line for a potentially bigger role after Arian Foster (hamstring) and Ben Tate (rib) suffered Week 7 injuries. Montgomery was the 95th overall pick in the draft.

Cierre Wood has won the Texans' No. 3 RB job.

Wood beat out veteran Deji Karim and fellow undrafted rookie Dennis Johnson for the job. In three preseason appearances, Wood rushed 25 times for 132 yards (5.28 YPC) and caught four passes for 35 yards. With Ben Tate in a contract year and Arian Foster's tires getting really bald, the Notre Dame product is a Dynasty stash.

Texans UDFA Cierre Wood led the team with 10 carries for 59 yards and caught a 14-yard pass in Friday night's preseason opener.

Meanwhile, No. 3 back competitor Dennis Johnson managed 11 yards on seven runs with a six-yard catch. Wood is making a case for the job behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate, which would make him a nice deep fantasy sleeper. "He exceeded expectations," coach Gary Kubiak said of Wood. "He has talent and he has opportunity, and when those two things come together, good things happen."

CSN Houston projects UDFA RB Cierre Wood to make the Texans' as the No. 3 back.

The Texans' No. 3 back is worth monitoring because overworked starter Arian Foster is already injured, and backup Ben Tate has been oft-hurt since entering the league. In CSN Houston's projection, Wood makes it over fellow UDFAs Ray Graham and Dennis Johnson because Wood "just seems like a better runner" and "is the kind of guy who might end up being a No. 2 next season."

Texans signed Notre Dame RB Cierre Wood.

Wood (5-foot-11 1/4, 213) was a rotational back throughout his career, tallying 2,447 yards and 16 touchdowns on 450 carries (5.44 YPC). He caught 52 passes. Wood ran 4.56 with a 1.53 ten-yard split at the Combine, the latter time confirming his short-area burst. Wood runs frustratingly small for his size -- he'll dance in the backfield and is poor in short yardage -- but is creative and laterally elusive with quick feet. He's got an outside chance to develop into an NFL asset. Arian Foster's backup, Ben Tate, will be a free agent after this season.
