Free agent OT Kareem McKenzie does not plan to retire despite generating little or no interest on the open market.
McKenzie's performance fell off a cliff last year, and he's now 33 years old. "I'm not retired yet but you know what, we'll go ahead and see what happens and if no one calls me then oh we'll I guess I am," he said. "No big deal to me." Thu, May 17, 2012 11:53:00 AM

The Giants recently informed free agent RT Kareem McKenzie that he is not part of the team's 2012 plans.

Citing a team source, the Bergen Record reports that the Giants, specifically, told McKenzie to "go shopping." The G-Men are high on 2011 fourth-round pick James Brewer, who could compete for the right tackle job. Another option is moving LG David Diehl. McKenzie turns 33 in May. He's missed just four starts since the 2006 season, however, and should find a taker in free agency.

The New York Daily News considers free agent RT Kareem McKenzie "unlikely" to be re-signed.

McKenzie turns 33 in May and was a considerable liability in pass protection for much of the season, including the playoffs. David Diehl's versatility gives the Giants several options at right tackle for 2012. Last year's fourth-rounder, James Brewer, could be promoted if he excels in training camp.

Giants RT Kareem McKenzie (knee) has been ruled out for Week 17.

Rookie William Beatty will step in once again. Beatty isn't as physical as McKenzie, and his loss doesn't bode well for the Giants' running game.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that RT Kareem McKenzie will miss "at least" a couple of weeks with his sprained MCL.

Rookie William Beatty will step in. Beatty is a terrific athlete with good feet, but isn't nearly as physical as McKenzie. McKenzie's loss doesn't bode especially well for Brandon Jacobs and the rest of New York's running backs.

Giants T Kareem McKenzie left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a sprained left MCL and will not return.

McKenzie got his left leg caught up in a fellow lineman while pass blocking. He laid on the turf for several minutes before walking with trainers off the field and eventually making his way to the locker room.

Giants declared RT Kareem McKenzie, WR Ramses Barden, CB Aaron Ross, RB Gartrell Johnson, LB Michael Boley, OL Adam Koets, RT Kareem McKenzie, WR Sinorice Moss and DT Chris Canty inactive for Week 7.

McKenzie was limited in practice this week with a groin injury and didn't make enough progress by game day. He had made 38 straight starts. The Giants are battling the Cardinals on Sunday Night Football.

Giants RT Kareem McKenzie (groin) is expected to play on Sunday.

An unbelievably fast healer, McKenzie will make his 39th straight start. The NY Post speculated that he might "miss some time" earlier this week, but he'll face Arizona. McKenzie will match up with Clark Haggans on Sunday.

Giants beat writer Paul Schwartz speculates that RT Kareem McKenzie will be forced to miss some time with a groin injury.

The Giants' offensive line has started a remarkable 38 consecutive games together, but it looks like that streak is about to end. Rookie second-round pick Will Beatty would be the likely starter at right tackle if McKenzie can't go.

Giants RT Kareem McKenzie left Sunday's game with a groin injury.

A Saints defender rolled into the back of McKenzie's leg, but he's listed as out with a groin injury after being carted off the field.
Sun, Oct 18, 2009 02:39:00 PM

The Giants are calling RT Kareem McKenzie's knee injury a "sprain."

It might keep him out in Week 4 against the Chiefs and perhaps Week 5 against Oakland, but the Giants can make do in the meantime. McKenzie walked with no limp in the locker room after Sunday's drubbing of Tampa.
Mon, Sep 28, 2009 01:53:00 PM

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said RT Kareem McKenzie (knee) could not have gone back in Sunday's blowout win over the Bucs, even if it was close.

McKenzie was carted to the locker room in the third quarter and was replaced by rookie William Beatty. McKenzie wouldn't talk about the injury after the game, joking that he had a "heat stroke."

Kareem McKenzie left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a knee injury.

Trainers looked at McKenzie's right leg on the sidelines before carting him to the locker room. He's undergoing x-rays, so don't expect a return. Rookie William Beatty is in.
Sun, Sep 27, 2009 02:49:00 PM

The Giants' offensive line has started 32 consecutive games together, the longest active streak in the league.

RT Kareem McKenzie's bad back threatened the streak late last year, but he toughed it out. The Giants also led the NFL in rushing and allowed just 28 sacks, fifth fewest in the NFC. All five members are signed through 2011.
