Cardinals signed WR Jaron Brown to a one-year extension through 2017.
Brown is on I.R. with a torn ACL he suffered last month. It's a good move on behalf of the Cardinals, who clearly have faith in Brown's recovery. With Michael Floyd set to become a free agent, Brown provides quality depth. Nov 16 - 12:58 PM

Date:

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown suffered an ACL tear Sunday night.

Brown had been playing a bigger role with Michael Floyd struggling and John Brown (hamstrings, sickle-cell) battling through injury. The Cardinals will now rely on J.J. Nelson, who turned seven targets into three catches for 84 yards Sunday night.

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown left Week 7 against Seattle with a knee injury.

It's to the same knee that cost Brown practice time this week. Brown suffered the setback in the second quarter and was ruled out for the game. J.J. Nelson is playing in three-wide sets.
Oct 23 - 9:28 PM

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown (knee) is questionable for Week 7 against Seattle.

Brown got in a limited practice Friday after sitting out the last two days. He'll be a game-time decision on Sunday night. J.J. Nelson will see more snaps if Brown is held out.
Oct 21 - 6:06 PM

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown (knee) didn't practice on Wednesday.

He hurt his knee late in Monday night's win over the Jets. Brown acknowledged that he may have to play with a brace Sunday against the Seahawks. With so many mouths to feed in Arizona, Brown isn't a realistic fantasy option.
Oct 19 - 5:20 PM

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown (knee) is day to day, and will likely play in Week 7 with a brace.

Brown went down late in the fourth quarter on Monday night. Coach Bruce Arians didn't seem overly concerned about his status on Tuesday. Brown has become a steady presence in the Cardinals' receiver rotation behind Larry Fitzgerald.
Oct 18 - 3:34 PM

Jaron Brown caught 4-of-5 targets for 35 yards in the Cardinals' Week 6 win over the Jets.

Brown ran as the No. 3 receiver much of the night. He's more of a catch-and-fall guy as a chain mover. Brown caught his fourth pass late in the fourth quarter and injured his knee on the play. Brown had to be guided off the field. If he misses any time, Michael Floyd will be elevated back to No. 3.
Oct 17 - 11:54 PM

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers believes WR Jaron Brown needs to "play more" at the expense of Michael Floyd.

Floyd has arguably been the least productive receiver in the league through three weeks. Among receivers with at least 20 targets, Floyd's 39.1 percent catch rate ranks dead last. He was credited with one drop in the Week 3 loss to the Bills, but he could have just as easily been charged with three. Floyd also ran a bad fourth-quarter route, leading to a Carson Palmer interception, when the Cardinals were threatening a comeback. Brown has caught 6-of-11 targets for 145 yards (24.2 YPR) and one score on just 85 snaps, mostly playing in garbage time.
Sep 27 - 9:15 PM

Jaron Brown caught 2-of-2 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in Arizona's Week 2 win over the Bucs.

Doing his best John Brown impression, Jaron ran right by the Bucs' entire secondary on his 51-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Jaron has out-produced John thus far this season, but remains behind him on the depth chart. He's an unlikely source of future fantasy value.
Sep 18 - 7:59 PM

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown has been working ahead of J.J. Nelson as the No. 4 receiver at training camp.

Brown played ahead of Nelson all last season, as well, but the Cardinals have been talking about Nelson making a second-year leap this year. The problem is the Cardinals are too loaded at receiver, and he'd need an injury or two to step into a larger role. Brown is entering his fourth season and can play any of the three positions. Nelson might not make an impact until 2017.
Aug 1 - 7:42 PM

Cardinals re-signed WR Jaron Brown, S Tony Jefferson and S D.J. Swearinger to one-year contracts.

All three were restricted free agents tendered at the lowest level. Their one-year contracts are worth $1.67 million. Jaron Brown will compete for targets behind Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown. Jefferson and Swearinger are both candidates to start in the Cardinals' thin safety corps.
Apr 18 - 12:21 PM

Cardinals tendered restricted free agent WR Jaron Brown.

S D.J. Swearinger also received an offer. Both players were tendered at the lowest level ($1.67 million). The Cards would receive no compensation were Brown to sign elsewhere and they decided not to match, but would be entitled to a second-rounder in Swearinger's case. Both players should be back in the desert.
Mar 3 - 1:32 PM

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown (shoulder) is participating without issue at OTAs.

Brown avoided surgery on the fractured shoulder blade he sustained in the Wild Card loss to the Panthers. He'll battle for the No. 4 wideout job at training camp.

Jaron Brown (shoulder) will participate in the Cardinals’ offseason program.

Brown suffered a fractured shoulder in January, but managed to avoid surgery. He expects to be full speed for the start of OTAs. Brown is Arizona's No. 4 receiver behind Michael Floyd, Larry Fitzgerald, and John Brown.

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown will avoid surgery on his fractured shoulder blade.

The hope is he'll be ready for OTAs, and he'll most certainly be back before 2015 training camp. 25-year-old Brown spent 2014 as Arizona's No. 4 receiver, securing 22 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns. If Larry Fitzgerald moves on, Brown would become the favorite for third receiver duties in 2015.
