Broncos tendered restricted free agent K Brandon McManus at the second-round level.
The second-round tender is worth $2.746 million. It's an aggressive move for a kicker, but the Broncos didn't want to let McManus get away after he converted at least 85 percent of his field goals each of the past two years. Kickers are at more of a premium with the longer extra point. McManus also has a big leg, draining 8-of-13 kicks from 50-plus yards the past two seasons. Mar 7 - 3:12 PM

Broncos signed K Brandon McManus off their practice squad.

McManus was waived by the Broncos on Nov. 25 after missing 4-of-13 field goal attempts, but is being brought back to handle kickoffs. Connor Barth will continue to handle field goal duties. PR/WR Isaiah Burse was waived in a corresponding move.

Broncos waived K Brandon McManus.

The Super Bowl-contending Broncos simply couldn't stick with McManus any longer, as he'd missed four of his first 13 field-goal attempts, including one in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. Only 23, McManus should spend at least a few more years hanging around the fringes of the league.

The Broncos are considering a change at kicker.

Free agent Jay Feely will visit Denver on Tuesday. Brandon McManus missed another field goal in Sunday's win over the Dolphins, prompting disgust and disbelief on the Broncos' sideline. The second-year undrafted free agent is just 9-of-13 on the year. The Broncos foolishly let Matt Prater walk at the conclusion of his four-game suspension, leaving themselves with a kicking situation unbecoming of a title contender.

Brandon McManus will remain the Broncos kicker going forward.

Matt Prater was released last week as the Broncos threw a huge vote of confidence behind McManus, a seventh-round rookie. He looked a little shaky against the Cardinals at Mile High on Sunday, hooking a 53-yarder and hitting the upright on a 41-yard make. There will be risk here, but McManus is a strong weekly fantasy play thanks to a Broncos offense that provides a ton of opportunities. Prater was fantasy's No. 2 kicker last year.

Both of Brandon McManus' misses in the preseason finale were from 50-plus yards out.

Two days after landing in Denver via a trade with the Giants, McManus hit from 19 and 39 yards out and missed from 52 and 54. "Nerves weren't a factor," he said. "It's almost like getting a new driver (in golf). You have to go to the range a few times." McManus brings some risk as an unknown, but owners won't find more upside on the waiver wire. He has a massive leg and is kicking in Mile High for the league's most dominant offense.

Brandon McManus will be the Broncos' kicker during Matt Prater's four-game suspension.

GM John Elway expressed confidence in McManus even though he missed 2-of-4 field goals in the Broncos' preseason finale. Kicking for Denver's high-octane offense in Mile High, he'll bring fantasy upside. McManus has a booming leg.

Broncos acquired K Brandon McManus from the Giants in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.

The Giants were going to cut McManus, so they do well to get something back. McManus has made both of his field goal attempts this preseason and produced 10 touchbacks on 11 kickoffs. He'll fill in for suspended Matt Prater.

Giants waived or released K Brandon McManus, CB Charles James, LB Spencer Adkins, CB Ross Weaver, CB Kyle Sebetic, DE Emmanuel Dieke, OG John Sullen, WR Travis Harvey, S C.J. Barnett, DT Everett Dawkins, and TE Jerome Cunningham.

McManus gave Josh Brown a run for his money, nailing 2-of-2 field goals with 10 touchbacks on kickoffs. He'll likely get a look from a kicker-needy team.
