Benny Cunningham (neck) is doubtful for Week 14 against the Falcons.
He didn't practice all week and isn't going to play on Sunday. It's a slight upgrade for Todd Gurley, though Cunningham hasn't exactly been a drain on his workload. Cunningham has averaged just 3.36 touches across 11 games this season. Consider Cunningham week to week. Dec 9 - 4:35 PM

Date:

Benny Cunningham rushed six times for 40 yards and caught 3-of-5 targets for seven yards in the Rams' Week 10 win over the Jets.

The Rams' change-of-pace back worked into the game whenever Todd Gurley needed a breather. Although Cunningham is a useful asset to the Rams' offense, he lacks value in re-draft leagues as a lightly used role player.
Nov 13 - 4:05 PM

Coach Jeff Fisher said he expects RB Benny Cunningham (thigh) to return to the lineup Week 6 against the Lions.

It's bad news for Todd Gurley owners. With Cunningham out each of the past two games, Gurley has seen a spike in pass-game usage. Gurley averaged five targets per game without Cunningham, but was seeing just two with him. The Lions are the only team yet to allow a rushing touchdown to an opposing running back. Week 6 doesn't look like a slump-busting spot for Gurley.
Oct 11 - 9:29 PM

Rams declared RB Benny Cunningham, DT Michael Brockers, DE William Hayes, QB Sean Mannion, OT Pace Murphy, DE Robert Quinn and WR Nelson Spruce inactive for Week 5 against the Bills.

Cunningham's absence is a bit of a surprise. He left last week's game with a hamstring injury but was able to practice on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday. Todd Gurley could see more work in the passing game with Cunningham sidelined. Kenny Britt (thigh) and Cody Davis (groin) are active for Los Angeles.
Oct 9 - 3:12 PM

Benny Cunningham (hamstring) is questionable for Week 5 against the Bills.

He's been limited at practice the last two days. We're guessing that will be enough for him to earn the green light for Sunday. If Cunningham sits out, it would open up passing-down work for Todd Gurley, who is coming off a career-high 49 receiving yards in Week 4.
Oct 7 - 4:22 PM

Benny Cunningham (hamstring) was limited in Thursday's practice.

Cunningham's status is unclear. He went down against the Cardinals, but wasn't listed on the Wednesday injury report before today's limited session. It would appear he'll suit up against the Bills, but he's not there yet. Cunningham's absence would give Todd Gurley a fantasy boost by virtue of increasing his passing-game involvement.
Oct 6 - 3:27 PM

Benny Cunningam left Sunday's Week 4 game against the Cardinals with a hamstring injury and is questionable to return.

Cunningham hadn't touched the ball yet and has only logged four carries in four games this season. With Cunningham sidelined, Malcolm Brown will serve as the backup to Todd Gurley.
Oct 2 - 6:27 PM

Rams RB Benny Cunningham rushed six times for 22 yards in Los Angeles' third preseason game.

Todd Gurley sat this one out, so Cunningham ran with the first-team offense. When Gurley is playing, Cunningham is the Rams' pass-protection specialist and plays on special teams. Cunningham is locked in as the team's No. 2 back.
Aug 27 - 11:47 PM

Rams re-signed restricted free agent RB Benny Cunningham to a one-year, $1.671 million contract.

It's the value of his original-pick tender. Cunningham visited the Patriots last month, but nothing came of it. The Rams had a ton of cap space at the time and were going to match any offer he received more than likely. Cunningham will return as Todd Gurley's breather back and a pass-pro specialist.
Apr 8 - 1:00 PM

The Patriots are hosting restricted free agent RB Benny Cunningham on Thursday.

A versatile role player with passing-down and special teams value, Cunningham is a Patriots-esque "do your job" kind of player. He has 71 receptions over the past two seasons and only three drops during that span. As Cunningham was originally undrafted and received the lowest-possible tender from the Rams, Los Angeles would receive no compensation if Cunningham signed an offer sheet from New England and the Rams failed to match.
Mar 10 - 11:21 AM

Rams extended the original-pick tender to restricted free agent Benny Cunningham.

Cunningham is a core special teamer for the Rams, and seemingly beloved by the coaching staff. His third-down ability was a drain on Todd Gurley's 2015 receiving stats, and will remain concern for Gurley's 2016 PPR outlook.
Mar 9 - 2:21 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed four times for 38 yards and caught 3-of-3 targets for 34 yards in the Rams' Week 17 loss to San Francisco.

He finishes the season with 390 yards from scrimmage and 26 receptions. Although Cunningham has never been a legitimate fantasy asset, the Rams' odd love for him prevents other members of their backfield from hitting their ceilings. Also a contributor on special teams, Cunningham is an obvious Jeff Fisher favorite. He figures to get tendered in restricted free agency.
Jan 3 - 8:57 PM

Benny Cunningham (knee) is probable for Week 4 against the 49ers.

Cunningham didn't practice Friday with a knee issue. The probable tag means the Rams fully expect him to play. Cunningham will see limited third-down snaps behind Tre Mason and Todd Gurley.
Fri, Oct 2, 2015 05:57:00 PM

Benny Cunningham caught 2-of-2 targets for 18 yards in St. Louis' Week 3 loss to the Steelers, adding a 12-yard rush.

Cunningham gained just one fewer yard than Tre Mason on seven fewer touches, but is now No. 3 on the depth chart with Todd Gurley ready to rock. Cunningham will catch the occasional pass, but is off the radar in all formats of fantasy.
Sun, Sep 27, 2015 06:28:00 PM

Benny Cunningham caught four passes for 27 yards in the Rams' Week 2 loss to the Redskins, rushing one time for no gain.

With Tre Mason back from his hamstring injury, Cunningham took a backseat and headed back to his pass-game role in the Rams' backfield. He had one week of value, but can safely be dropped in redraft leagues, especially with Todd Gurley (knee) expected to make his Rams debut in Week 3 against the Steelers.
