Benny Cunningham rushed five times for five yards in Saturday's preseason game, adding two catches for an additional 32 yards.
Cunningham was thrust into bell-cow duties after Tre Mason injured his hamstring. He was ineffective between the tackles, but did some nice work as Nick Foles' safety valve in the passing game. Provided he sits out Thursday's finale, Cunningham finishes the preseason with 65 yards on 16 touches. Cunningham could begin the season as the Rams' third-down back if Todd Gurley (knee) isn't ready to go, but touches are going to be much scarcer than they were in 2014. Gurley and Tre Mason are going to dominate St. Louis' backfield. Aug 29 - 11:00 PM

Coach Jeff Fisher expects Benny Cunningham to be his third-down back again this season.

Even after Tre Mason seized feature back duties midway through last season, he ceded passing work to Cunningham. Benny finished with 45 catches for 532 yards and one touchdown. "He’s just really good out of the backfield. He’s probably the better protector of the three," Fisher said. The roles in St. Louis' backfield appear set as Zac Stacy will back up workhorse Mason and Cunningham will slide in on pass downs. Isaiah Pead, coming off a torn ACL, could be the odd man out.
Apr 2 - 8:15 AM

Benny Cunningham rushed for 10 yards on four carries and caught 7-of-7 targets for 57 yards in the Rams' Week 17 loss to the Seahawks.

He also lost a fumble at the goal line, resulting in a touchback. Cunningham's season ends with 246 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on 66 totes (3.72 YPC) to go along with a 45-352-1 line through the air. Cunningham is purely a pass-down specialist for the Rams who excels in blitz pickup and as a pass catcher. That’ll be his role again in 2015, though that could change if Tre Mason improves that area of his game. Cunningham also plays special teams, so his roster spot is relatively safe as the No. 2.

Benny Cunningham rushed one time for negative-one yards and caught two passes for 19 yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Giants.

Cunningham was the primary passing down back, but lost a few change-of-pace chances to Zac Stacy. He'll finish up the season at Seattle in Week 17.
Sun, Dec 21, 2014 08:09:00 PM

Benny Cunningham caught 3-of-4 targets for 23 yards in the Rams' Week 15 loss to the Cardinals, adding two rushes for four yards.

A fairly-standard day at the office for Cunningham. Rarely surpassing 5-6 touches, Cunningham won't be on the RB4 radar for Week 16 against the Giants.
Fri, Dec 12, 2014 12:20:00 AM

Benny Cunningham carried just once for five yards in the Rams' Week 13 win over the Raiders.

He wasn't involved in the passing game. Cunningham may have been passed up on the depth chart by Zac Stacy, who had seven carries in Sunday's victory.
Sun, Nov 30, 2014 05:22:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed for 18 yards on five carries in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Chargers.

He added two catches for 11 yards. Cunningham is the Rams' critical-situation and red-zone back, but offers no fantasy value behind Tre Mason.
Sun, Nov 23, 2014 07:59:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed for seven yards on two carries in the Rams' Week 11 win over the Broncos, adding four catches for 31 yards.

Standard day at the office for Cunningham as the distant No. 2 to Tre Mason. Cunningham only plays on surefire passing downs and in an occasional goal-line package. He's not a standalone fantasy option.
Sun, Nov 16, 2014 05:14:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed for 12 yards and one touchdown on four carries in the Rams' Week 10 loss to the Cardinals.

The Rams' third-down back also caught three passes for 16 yards. Cunningham continues to get the juicy looks near the end zone, but is nothing more than an RB3/4.
Sun, Nov 9, 2014 08:01:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed four times for 10 yards and caught three passes for 38 yards against the 49ers Week 9.

Cunningham played second fiddle to clear starter Tre Mason. He sprinkled in on passing downs, and had one series to himself as the lead back. That usage will likely continue the rest of the season. He does not need to be owned in 10- and 12- team leagues.
Sun, Nov 2, 2014 07:42:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed for 27 yards on four carries in the Rams' Week 8 loss to the Chiefs, adding one catch for eight yards.

Cunningham got the start in the Rams' backfield, while Mason entered on the second series, and Zac Stacy on the third. It was a full-blown committee approach. Mason and Stacy each received eight touches. Cunningham is the team's best back in pass protection and as a pass catcher, but he's nothing more than a low-upside RB3. It's a backfield to avoid in Week 9 at San Francisco.

Benny Cunningham (knee) is listed as probable for Week 8.

Cunningham will be part of St. Louis' three-man RBBC in Sunday's clash with Kansas City. His actual workload will be determined during the game.

Benny Cunningham was added to the Rams' injury report on Thursday, getting in a limited session with a knee issue.

It suggests Cunningham tweaked something in Thursday's practice, though it's unclear if that's the case. The Rams are one of the most lightly-covered teams in the league, so we might not gain clarity until Friday's injury report. A "DNP" on Friday would spell doom for Cunningham's Week 8 chances, while another "limited" to go along with a "questionable" tag would be inconclusive. Regardless of his health, Cunningham can't be trusted as more than an RB3.

Benny Cunningham rushed two times for three yards in the Rams' Week 7 win over the Seahawks, adding five catches for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Cunningham got the start for the Rams, playing two plays on the opening-series three-and-out. It was then Tre Mason on early downs the rest of the afternoon, with Cunningham playing passing downs. Zac Stacy played just one snap. Cunningham is the best pass protector in the Rams' backfield, so he's going to have a weekly role as the No. 2. Mason is the new No. 1. Stacy can be dropped.
Sun, Oct 19, 2014 05:05:00 PM

Benny Cunningham rushed for 21 yards and one touchdown on seven carries in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

Cunningham was the second back in the game behind Zac Stacy, as usual, and he got the lone goal-line carry for the Rams and punched it in from one yard away to kick off the game's scoring. Carries were split 8-7-5 to Stacy, Cunningham, and rookie Tre Mason, respectively. This could turn into a full-blown committee. It was clear watching Monday's game that Mason has the most talent.
