Chiefs declared WR Frankie Hammond, QB Aaron Murray, T/G Jah Reid, CB Steven Nelson, OLB Dezman Moses, TE Brian Parker, and DE Rakeem Nunez-Roches inactive for Week 3 against the Packers.

All are healthy scratches. Nelson was the Chiefs' third-round pick in May.

Frankie Hammond caught 1-of-3 targets for six yards in Kansas City's Week 12 loss to the Raiders.

With Donnie Avery and Junior Hemingway ailing, the Chiefs needed Hammond to step up. Instead he dropped a critical third-down pass (which was overturned by a penalty) and failed to come back to the ball on the final play of the game. It was a dismal performance. The Chiefs arguably have the least receiver talent in the league.

Chiefs WR Frankie Hammond (shoulder) is listed as probable for Week 2.

Hammond will play in three-wide sets with Dwayne Bowe returning from suspension. Junior Hemingway (hip) is also listed as probable.

Chiefs WR Frankie Hammond (shoulder) is practicing in full for Week 2.

Hammond started in Dwayne Bowe's absence last Sunday, but caught only one pass on two targets. He's miles from re-draft relevance.

Chiefs WR Frankie Hammond caught 1-of-2 targets for 22 yards in Kansas City's Week 1 loss to the Titans.

He started in two-wide sets across from Donnie Avery, but saw the same number of targets as third receiver Junior Hemingway. With Dwayne Bowe coming back from suspension in Week 2 against the Broncos, Hammond will be safe to avoid and/or drop even in the deepest fantasy football leagues.

Frankie Hammond is expected to start in place of Dwayne Bowe (suspension) Week 1.

Hammond, a 2013 UDFA out of Florida that spent last season on the practice squad, has been Bowe's direct backup at "Z" throughout camp. He's also been solid in preseason games, catching six passes for 90 yards on 86 snaps. It's a nice story, but it speaks to the striking lack of depth and talent the Chiefs have in their wide receiver room. If they want to have any kind of passing attack against the Titans, they'll install Gronkonian tight end Travis Kelce as a primary receiving option. Donnie Avery remains the starting "X."

Second-year UDFA WR Frankie Hammond Jr. will start in Kansas City's third preseason game.

Hammond is having a strong start to the preseason, with four catches for 67 yards on six targets. He's been filling in for Dwayne Bowe (quad) at Z receiver, and has "been a star during the offseason and training camp." Hammond is a virtual lock to make the Chiefs' final roster. With Bowe suspended for the first game, Hammond could be the Week 1 starter opposite Donnie Avery.
