The New York Jets have forced just two turnovers since Week 8.
The Jets are tied for 29th among NFL defenses in takeaways, and their pass rush hasn't been much better as only the Cleveland Browns have fewer sacks than DC Kacy Rodgers' unit. New York's six-week turnover slump has resulted in a 1-5 record in November and December as the Jets have continued to struggle. The Jets D/ST will be far from the fantasy radar in Week 16 on the road against the New England Patriots. Thu, Dec 22, 2016 03:25:00 PM

The New York Jets have not forced a turnover since Week 8 and have the second-fewest takeaways in the NFL.

The only team with fewer takeaways and a worse turnover differential than the Jets is the Jacksonville Jaguars. "That's the biggest difference between this year and last year, defensively. Not many takeaways," said coach Todd Bowles. The Jets D/ST has been a disappointment this season, turning in just two top-10 fantasy finishes in 11 games. New York will have an opportunity to get back on track in Week 13 against Colts QB Andrew Luck, who has thrown at least one interception in his last three starts. The Jets D/ST will be a borderline top-12 fantasy option on Monday night.

The New York Jets will be tasked with slowing Miami RB Jay Ajayi on Sunday, as the rookie looks for a third consecutive 200-yard rushing performance.

Ajayi erupted for 418 rushing yards on 53 carries in two weeks before Miami's bye, and the Jets hope to put an end to the rookie's streak this week. "We execute our game plan, we play fast, we play hard and we play smart, we most definitely will get the job done," said DT Steve McLendon said. Ajayi will certainly be tested, as the Jets have allowed just one 100-yard rushing performance this season and are allowing an NFL-best 74.0 rushing yards per game. The Jets D/ST is a low-end streaming option on the road at Miami this week.

The New York Jets are looking to rebound in run defense after allowing a season-high 171 rushing yards and their first 100-yard rusher in Week 6.

The secondary had been the main issue for the Jets' struggling defense, as opposing offenses had run for just 68.4 yards per game heading into Week 6. Arizona had different plans, as RB David Johnson had his way with the Jets' defensive front that was without LB David Harris (hamstring). Harris will likely return in Week 7, but the Jets D/ST will not be on the fantasy radar against Baltimore.

The NY Jets will face dinged-up Seattle QB Russell Wilson on Sunday, who is dealing with ankle and knee injuries.

Wilson was not listed on Seattle's injury report, but has been dealing with the injuries all week. The Jets have just two sacks since a seven sack outburst in Week 1, and will look to contain the speedy Seattle quarterback on Sunday. Seattle will get a boost to its offensive line with rookie RG Germain Ifedi making his 2016 debut after dealing with ankle troubles, a change the Seahawks hope will help protect Wilson. The Jets D/ST is a mid-level fantasy option in Week 4.

DE Sheldon Richardson (suspension) will return to the Jets' defensive line on Thursday when the team plays at Buffalo.

The Jets racked up a league-high seven sacks in Week 1 against Cincinnati, and Buffalo coach Rex Ryan is well aware of the challenge facing the Bills on Thursday. "They had like seven sacks or something like that, and oh by the way, Sheldon Richardson never played. So, golly. I thought it was good when I was there," Ryan said. The Jets D/ST will be a back-end top-10 fantasy option in Week 2.

NY Jets LB David Harris (shoulder) is "truly questionable" for Week 1, according to coach Todd Bowles.

"We still need to see, from a strength standpoint, where he is," Bowles said. "We'll be determining that tomorrow, and right up until Sunday morning. He's going to have to workout and do some things to see if he can play." The Bengals figure to lean on their running backs in Week 1 when they face the Jets, so getting Harris on the field would be a boost for the group that was second among NFL teams in stopping the run in 2015. Consider the Jets D/ST a top-10 unit for Week 1.

The New York Jets will take their NFL-best run defense to Buffalo on Sunday to face the league's most successful ground game.

The Bills average 154.6 rushing yards per game, while the Jets allow just 81.5 yards on the ground each week. With snow in the Buffalo forecast for Sunday, the Bills will likely place extra emphasis on their ground game, putting the Jets' front line to the test. The Jets D/ST has held its opposition under 75 rushing yards in four of the last five weeks and should be considered at top-10 fantasy option in Week 17.

The New York Jets will host New England in Week 16, who earned a 30-23 victory when the two teams met in Week 7.

New England avoided the strong run defense of the Jets in that game by giving their running backs just five carries in the entire contest. Whether the Patriots attack this week's game in the same manner is yet to be seen, but starting the Jets D/ST against the New England offense is a scary proposition either way. New England is averaging 31.1 points per game on the season and the matchup makes the Jet D/ST an avoidable group in fantasy leagues this week.

The New York Jets defense will face Dallas quarterback Matt Cassel in Week 15, who completed 13 of 29 pass attempts in Week 14.

Cassel has been a wreck this season, completing 55 percent of his passes with one touchdown pass since taking over for Tony Romo on Thanksgiving. Dallas' only hope of moving the ball this week is on the ground, and the Jets are the top run-stopping defense in the NFL. The Jets D/ST is a great fantasy option in Week 15.
Wed, Dec 16, 2015 11:53:00 PM

The New York Jets have recorded 17 sacks over the last five weeks.

The success of the Jets in the sack department bodes well for their Week 14 matchup with the Tennessee offense that has allowed 39 sacks on the season, the second-highest total among NFL teams. The Jets also lead the NFL in run defense and will likely be able to shut down the Tennessee rushing attack that is led by Antonio Andrews and rookie David Cobb. The Jets D/ST will be a top-10 fantasy option at home against the Titans this week.

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis (concussion) will miss Week 13, his second-straight absence.

The Jets' secondary has struggled recently, holding only two of their last six opponents under 300 yards passing. Missing Revis won't help, as the Jets face Odell Beckham and the New York Giants this week where the Jets D/ST will be a mid-tier fantasy option.

The New York Jets will be without CB Darrelle Revis (concussion) in Week 12 when they host the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets have struggled against the pass in recent weeks, allowing 295.4 passing yards per game over the last five weeks, and the absence of Revis won't help their cause. The Jets D/ST will be a middling fantasy option in Week 12 at home against Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins.

The New York Jets travel to Houston in Week 11 to face the Texans, who will likely be led by backup QB T.J. Yates.

The Jets are tied for the NFL lead in sacks over the last five weeks and should be able to pile up fantasy points against Yates. Yates threw his first regular season touchdown pass since 2011 last week and has a career completion rate of just 60.2 percent. The Jets D/ST is a top-tier fantasy option in Week 11.
Fri, Nov 20, 2015 02:27:00 AM

The New York Jets will put their run defense to the test on Thursday night when they host the Buffalo Bills, the NFL's second-best rushing offense.

The Bills are averaging a hefty 141.6 rushing yards per game in 2015 and ran wild for 266 yards against Miami in Week 9. Both LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams went over 100 yards last week and will present a challenge for the Jets defense that is number one among NFL teams in stopping the run, allowing just 80.6 rushing yards per game. This battle of strengths will be exciting to watch on Thursday, when the Jets D/ST will be a top-10 fantasy option.
