Adam Thielen caught 7-of-9 targets for 86 yards in the Vikings' Week 13 loss to the Cowboys.
Soaking up checkdowns, Thielen actually led the Vikings in receiving yards, but committed a catastrophic blunder in the fourth quarter, losing a fumble on a punt return. It was encouraging that Thielen remained so involved even with Stefon Diggs back in the lineup, but his kind of game is his absolute ceiling. Most weeks he'll catch 4-6 passes for 40-60 yards. You can do better. Dec 2 - 12:12 AM

Date:

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (shoulder) is practicing in full for Week 13.

Thielen drew 10 targets on Thanksgiving, but that number will probably halve if Stefon Diggs (knee) is ready to return against the Cowboys. Even were Diggs to sit, Thielen would be a WR4.
Nov 28 - 2:20 PM

Adam Thielen caught 8-of-10 targets for 53 yards in the Vikings' Week 12 loss to the Lions.

A glorious day for PPR league players, but a whole bunch of nothing for everyone else. Thielen was the intended target on Sam Bradford's game-costing interception, arguably letting Darius Slay run his route for him. Thielen is a nice fit for the Vikings "short passes, don't screw up" offense, but that offers limited fantasy appeal in standard leagues. He'll have trouble compiling against the Keepaway Cowboys in Week 13.
Nov 24 - 4:12 PM

With CB Marcus Sherels inactive, Adam Thielen is expected to return punts Week 12 against the Lions.

Thielen already is in for a lot more work with Stefon Diggs (knee) inactive, and his fantasy value gets another boost in return-yardage leagues with this news. In DFS, he is an interesting correlation play with the Vikings DST. Even in non-return leagues, Thielen is shaping up as a solid WR3 with upside.
Nov 24 - 11:09 AM

Vikings WR Adam Thielen caught 5-of-5 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown on Sunday's Week 11 win over the Cardinals.

Credit to ESPN's Britt McHenry for alerting us that Thielen would have a bigger Week 11 role than usual with Patrick Peterson on Stefon Diggs. Although Thielen was technically out-targeted by Cordarrelle Patterson (8), everything thrown Thielen's way was caught and he got started early with a first-quarter touchdown. Thielen's usage can be hit or miss in Minnesota's low-volume passing game. He's a better real-life than fantasy receiver.
Nov 20 - 6:49 PM

ESPN's Britt McHenry was told by a Vikings coach Adam Thielen will be "targeted a lot" Week 11 against the Cardinals.

With Stefon Diggs expected to draw shadow coverage from Patrick Peterson, Thielen could get more involved against the Cardinals' lesser defensive backs. Good for around five targets every game, Thielen might be able to push for eight looks this week. That would put him squarely on the WR3 map.
Nov 20 - 11:43 AM

Adam Thielen caught 3-of-4 targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in Week 10.

The touchdown was Thielen's only notable play. It's his first score since Week 5, but he had gone over 40 yards in four straight weeks. Thielen isn't a Week 11 streaming option against Arizona.
Nov 13 - 5:47 PM

Adam Thielen caught 4-of-6 targets for 68 yards in the Vikings' Week 9 loss to the Lions.

Thielen continued to come up with critical gains in clutch situations, but he lacks fantasy value short of missed games by Stefon Diggs. Thielen blew up when Diggs missed Week 5 with a groin injury, but otherwise he's been a low-volume role player. Thielen won't be much of a fantasy consideration in Week 10 at Washington. He's certainly a useful player in Minnesota's offense, however.
Nov 6 - 5:17 PM

Adam Thielen caught 3-of-5 targets for 40 yards in the Vikings' Week 8 loss to the Bears.

It was more notable that he played 54-of-61 snaps as the clear No. 2 receiver behind Stefon Diggs (55 snaps). Cordarrelle Patterson was in on 41 plays. Thielen has solidified his role on offense, but he's unlikely to have many big games, and when he does, they'll be impossible to predict. His best grab Monday night was a 21-yard pickup where he walled off the cornerback to make the play. Thielen might be worth a dart throw in a tasty Week 9 home date with Detroit.
Nov 1 - 12:21 AM

Adam Thielen caught 2-of-5 targets for 52 yards Week 7 against the Eagles.

Even with Stefon Diggs back, Thielen had the same number of targets and actually out-produced the No. 1 receiver. Sam Bradford's best throw of the game was a third-down conversion to Thielen down the sideline, and the quarterback tried to force the ball to Thielen in the end zone on his interception. It is tough to trust anyone in this passing attack outside of Diggs and Kyle Rudolph in fantasy, but Thielen should remain a factor in the offense all season.
Oct 23 - 4:59 PM

Adam Thielen caught 7-of-8 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' Week 5 win over the Texans.

Thielen got open early and often against what had been a solid secondary, although the Texans were down two corners. He easily came open on a double-move in the first quarter and Sam Bradford hit him for a 36-yard touchdown to get the scoring started. He also hooked up with Bradford for a 31-yard catch in the third quarter and converted a third down with a leaping grab on the sideline in the fourth. Stefon Diggs should be back after the bye, but Thielen has been solid all season. He may have earned more targets with his performance Sunday.
Oct 9 - 5:11 PM

Adam Thielen will start in place of Stefon Diggs (groin, inactive) Week 5 against the Texans.

Thielen has played plenty of snaps early in the season, but he has yet to see more than five targets in a game. That could change today. Even in a very tough matchup, he is worth a look in deeper formats. Charles Johnson, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jarius Wright, and even Laquon Treadwell could see more work with Diggs out.
Oct 9 - 11:42 AM

Adam Thielen caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards in the Vikings' Week 4 win over the Giants.

Thielen was also targeted on a deep ball from Sam Bradford, but the receiver was clearly interfered with, though it didn't draw a flag. Thielen is on the field for his blocking and grit more than anything.
Oct 4 - 12:57 AM

Adam Thielen caught 4-of-5 targets for 54 yards Week 1 against the Titans.

Thielen worked as the clear No. 3 receiver in this game and showed much better than starter Charles Johnson. His most important contribution was a diving 16-yard grab on third down to keep a scoring drive alive in the fourth quarter. Thielen could keep his role even if first-round rookie Laquon Treadwell jumps Johnson on the depth chart.
Sep 11 - 5:28 PM

ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling said WR Adam Thielen has gotten "consistent work with the top three-receiver set."

That was the unit Thielen worked with in the preseason opener, where he caught one pass for 22 yards. It is possible Thielen is seeing more work because Jarius Wright is sidelined with an undisclosed injury, but he was taking those snaps even before Wright went down. Thielen would need a rash of injuries in front of him to garner fantasy consideration in the Vikings' low-volume passing offense, but it looks like he could open the season as the No. 3 receiver.
