Adam Thielen caught 9-of-13 targets for 97 yards in the Vikings' Week 6 win over the Packers.
With Stefon Diggs (groin) out, Thielen was the clear go-to guy for Case Keenum, doing work against a secondary ravaged by injuries. It's unclear how long Diggs will be out, but Thielen will be a solid WR2 against the Ravens in Week 7. Oct 15 - 5:16 PM

Date:

Adam Thielen caught 5-of-8 targets for 34 yards in the Vikings' Week 5 win over the Bears.

He added an 11-yard carry. With Stefon Diggs suffering a groin injury and spending much of the second half on the sideline, it was Thielen and Kyle Rudolph in the pass game while Jerick McKinnon did all of the heavy lifting as a runner. The yards and catches have been there for Thielen through five weeks, but he's yet to score. He'll be a WR2/3 next week against the Packers at home.
Oct 10 - 12:21 AM

Adam Thielen caught 5-of-8 targets for 49 yards in the Vikings' Week 4 loss to the Lions.

Case Keenum only threw for 209 scoreless yards in the defeat, but he should have had a touchdown to Thielen. Instead, Keenum checked it down to Jerick McKinnon on the play and it fell incomplete. Thielen was wide open in the end zone behind McKinnon, but Keenum didn't see it. Thielen's late lost fumble in the fourth quarter with the Vikings trailing by seven essentially ended the game. Thielen will again be a strong WR3 play next week against the Bears.
Oct 1 - 6:37 PM

Adam Thielen caught 5-of-8 targets for 98 yards in the Vikings' Week 3 win over the Buccaneers.

Thielen got the offensive bonanza started by whipping Bucs CB Vernon Hargreaves for a 45-yard gain down the left sideline on Minnesota's opening drive. He was a chain mover thereafter while Stefon Diggs and Dalvin Cook scored the Vikings' touchdowns. Thielen remains one of the most underrated wideouts in the league, but he's likely to remain inconsistent along with his quarterback play. He will be a volatile WR3/flex in Week 4 against Detroit.
Sep 24 - 4:25 PM

Adam Thielen caught 5-of-6 targets for 44 yards in the Vikings' Week 2 loss to the Steelers.

Thielen had a 24-yard grab but was kept at bay the remainder of the day in a game Case Keenum started under center and managed just 167 yards on 37 attempts. Sam Bradford (knee) is expected back next week against the Bucs, which would boost the offense back up. Thielen remains a strong WR3.
Sep 17 - 4:59 PM

Adam Thielen caught 9-of-10 targets for 157 yards in the Vikings' Week 1 win over the Saints.

Thielen did whatever he wanted; the entire Vikings offense did for that matter. Thielen and Stefon Diggs combined for 16 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns on 18 targets. Working out of the slot most of the night, Thielen walked whichever defensive back was lined up opposite him. If Week 1 is any indication, the passing offense is going to take more downfield shots and run through Diggs and Thielen. Thielen was one of our favorite underrated WR4 picks in fantasy drafts this summer. He has big potential in all formats after averaging 14.0 YPR in 2016. Thielen will be a strong WR3 play next week at Pittsburgh.
Sep 11 - 10:32 PM

Adam Thielen caught 5-of-5 targets for 50 yards in the Vikings' third preseason game.

Thielen played under 30 percent of his snaps at slot receiver last season, but he was the Vikings' go-to slot man in Sunday night's regular season tune-up. Per PFF's Nate Jahnke, Thielen played 20-of-33 snaps at slot receiver in the first half, whereas 2016 slot man Stefon Diggs didn't get a single rep inside. Thielen will run higher-percentage routes on the interior and is now a sneaky bet to lead the Vikings in catches after a breakout 2016.
Aug 27 - 11:47 PM

Adam Thielen has been spending time in the slot this summer.

"I think a lot of it is I think Adam has a good feel in there, and I think Sam (Bradford) trusts him," coach Mike Zimmer said. Thielen was a playmaker on the outside last season, while Stefon Diggs manned the slot, but the Vikings want both players to line up all over the field. It's a good development from a fantasy perspective, as Thielen can still make plays on the outside while perhaps doing some compiling over the middle.
Aug 24 - 2:42 PM

Adam Thielen said he still has a "long ways to go" following last season's breakout.

Thielen earned a shiny new contract with a 69/967/5 performance last season, but he is not resting on his laurels. "I’ve got too much to work on, too many big goals, to reflect on anything," Thielen said. "I’m just going to come out here every day and try to get better and bring the same mindset I’ve brought since I got to the league." Thielen is currently behind Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph in the pecking order, but he should push for 100 targets.
May 29 - 11:02 AM

Adam Thielen's new deal with the Vikings is a four-year, $19.246-million pact through 2020.

The deal was originally reported as a three-year deal because Thielen had not signed his RFA tender, but it apparently was a three-year extension. Thielen will earn $6.746 million in 2017, and the value of the contract can reach $9 million per year via incentives. Even with 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell on the roster, Thielen should be locked into the No. 2 job.
Mar 23 - 11:01 AM

Vikings signed WR Adam Thielen to a three-year, $17 million contract with $11 million guaranteed.

The deal can reach $9 million annually with incentives. After catching 20 passes in his first 32 career games, Thielen had a massive 2016 as the No. 2 receiver when he passed Charles Johnson behind Stefon Diggs. Thielen finished with 69 catches for 967 yards (14.0 YPR) and five touchdowns. He was scheduled for restricted free agency, and the Vikings placed a second-round tender on him last week. Thielen made it known he was preferred a multi-year deal. He should be locked into the No. 2 job, while 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell will compete for snaps in three-wide sets.
Mar 15 - 3:58 PM

Vikings extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent WR Adam Thielen.

Thielen virtually came out of nowhere to hang a 69-967-5 receiving line for the season and average a robust 14.0 yards per catch. The 26-year-old is entering his fifth year out of tiny Minnesota State-Mankato and hopes to land a long-term deal. The Vikings may want to see him produce again in 2017 before doing so, but Thielen looks locked into three-wide sets in Minnesota.
Mar 8 - 12:38 PM

Restricted free agent Adam Thielen's representation is pushing for a long-term deal.

The Vikings should be able to retain Thielen on a second- or, to be safe, first-round tender, but agent Blake Baratz is looking for a long-term commitment. "They have the ability to do right by him, and he's far exceeded anyone's expectations," Baratz said. "We want to do something that makes sense for the team and makes sense for Adam. Otherwise, someone's going to be unhappy." A former undrafted free agent, Thielen should be looking to cash in coming off a breakout season, but the Vikings might want to see him do it again on a one-year tender, especially with 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell waiting in the wings.

Feb 16 - 12:26 PM

Adam Thielen caught his lone target for seven yards in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Bears.

Thielen's season ended on a big "WELP!" With no Stefon Diggs (hip), Thielen played 60-of-63 snaps, but was an afterthought in the finale after a monster Week 16. Overall, the big picture for Thielen was pretty nice in 2016. The fourth-year UDFA finished with a 69-967-5 line, averaging a robust 14.0 YPR in one of the least-explosive offenses. Thielen really came on late in the year, posting a 4-101 line in Week 14 and a massive 12-202-2 in Week 16. He has good size at 6'2/200, and as his YPR would reflect, he also has some big-play ability. Thielen will be extended an offer as a restricted free agent and is the favorite to open 2017 as the No. 2 receiver. 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell should push him for the gig, but Treadwell showed nothing as a rookie.
Jan 1 - 6:11 PM

Adam Thielen caught 12-of-15 targets for 202 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings' Week 16 loss to the Packers.

The Vikings lost 38-25, but this was not a garbage time aided effort. Thielen was ripping up yardage from the opening whistle, getting open at will. The highlight was a 71-yard touchdown in the second quarter where Thielen pantsed Quinten Rollins with a double move down the sideline. The monster effort cements Thielen's emergence as the Vikings' No. 1 receiver, and leaves him 40 yards shy of 1,000 heading into the finale. Closing out his age-26 season, Thielen will be a restricted free agent.
