Seahawks released TE Chris Baker.
Signed to a two-year, $4.75 million contract a year ago, the blocking specialist caught just nine passes in 16 games last season. He was due a $500,000 roster bonus on the seventh day of the league year. Now 31 years old and coming off a fractured hip in January, this may be the end of the line for Baker. Seahawks placed TE Chris Baker on injured reserve with a fractured hip, ending his season.

John Carlson will likely add even more blocking duties against the Saints with Baker out. In the first season of his two-year contract, Baker caught just nine passes for 116 yards. The 31-year-old is owed a $500,000 offseason roster bonus that he seems unlikely to collect.

The Seahawks have ruled out TE Chris Baker (fractured hip) and OL Chester Pitts (concussion) for the Wild Card round.

Strictly a blocking tight end, Baker has nine catches on the season. The Seahawks may need John Carlson to pick up that slack. Pitts has started five games, but did not get the nod in Week 17. Tyler Polumbus will be Seattle's starting left guard against the Saints, with Mike Gibson probably on the right.

Seahawks TE Chris Baker left Sunday's game in the first half with a foot injury.

The team deemed his return questionable. Signed as a blocking tight end in the offseason, Baker has lived up to the duties with four catches all year.

Seahawks signed TE Chris Baker to a two-year, $4.75 million contract, including $2.75 million in the first season.

Coordinator Jeremy Bates has confirmed that he will run the two-tight end offense he learned under Mike Shanahan in Denver. Baker will play the blocking role while John Carlson handles receiving duties. The 30-year-old's addition is unlikely to have any effect on Carlson's fantasy value.

In addition to the Seahawks and Bengals, free agent TE Chris Baker is also scheduled to visit with the 49ers this week.

Should Baker sign with the 49ers, he would be limited to a strict blocking role behind Vernon Davis. His best bet for a heavy offensive role would be in Cincinnati.

The Seahawks have scheduled a visit with free agent TE Chris Baker next week.

Ben Watson is also scheduled for a visit in Seattle. Offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates is steeped in Mike Shanahan's two-tight end system, and it looks like the team wants to find a better blocker to pair with receiving threat John Carlson.

The Bengals have scheduled a visit for free agent TE Chris Baker.

Baker is due in Cincinnati early next week. Baker, 30, was released by the Patriots on Thursday thanks to a hefty roster bonus, but he fits Cincinnati's profile as a blocking tight end first, and a pass catcher second.

Patriots released TE Chris Baker.

A star in preseason action after signing a five-year, $14.4 million contract, Baker ended up with a scant 14 receptions in nine games. With Ben Watson headed toward free agency, the cupboard is bare at tight end in New England. The Pats have been linked to Greg Olsen, though Chicago has denied the reports.

Chris Baker caught one pass for two yards in the Patriots' playoff loss.

Baker's nondescript first year in New England involved more blocking than pass catching. The 30-year-old figures to return with a manageable $2 million due him in 2010 salary, but is unlikely to become a fantasy factor.

Patriots TE Chris Baker was added the injury report Thursday as limited with a shoulder injury.

Baker has fallen behind Ben Watson in the passing game. He's not a fantasy option regardless of his health.

Chris Baker caught two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 3 win over the Falcons.

Baker had just eight yards combined coming into this game and isn't often going to catch 36-yard touchdown passes. Leave him on the waiver wire.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick singled out Chris Baker when talking about the team's tight end competition Sunday.

A rare move by Belichick, and one that confirms our suspicions that Baker will get the most snaps on the team at tight end. Ben Watson, Alex Smith, and David Thomas are bunched closely together behind Baker. We wouldn't draft any of them, but Baker could be a bye-week fill in.

Chris Baker caught three passes for 22 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles in the Patriots preseason opener.

Alex Smith didn't catch a pass and Ben Watson sat out the game with an undisclosed injury. Watson appears to be in Bill Belichick's doghouse while Baker played every snap in the first half. The Pats have talked about involving their tight ends more in the red zone, and Baker may be the primary beneficiary.

Patriots signed TE Chris Baker to a five-year, $14.4 million contract.

Not exactly revenge for Spygate, but good to see the Jets-Patriots pipeline still working. Baker's career high in catches is only 41, but he can play all three downs competently and block well enough. New England was often short-handed at tight end last year with Ben Watson inconsistent and poor depth behind him. Neither is likely to be a useful fantasy option.
