Ravens placed WR Marlon Brown on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.
CB Sheldon Price has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Brown had missed each of the Ravens' past five games. Brown once had the looks of an upside prospect, but struggled to get on the field for arguably the league's worst receiver corps this season. He has only 38 catches over his past 24 games. Headed for restricted free agency, Brown might not get tendered a contract. Tue, Dec 29, 2015 03:03:00 PM

Marlon Brown (back) is listed as doubtful for Week 12.

Even with Steve Smith out for the season, Brown has been a non-factor behind Kamar Aiken and Chris Givens. Jeremy Butler will see more snaps from the slot.

Marlon Brown managed one catch for zero yards in the Ravens' Week 5 loss to the Browns, seeing four targets.

He had one bad drop and was stuffed for no gain on his lone catch. Brown has made a number of physical and mental errors early this season, and seems to be playing without confidence. He's descended sharply and steadily since his seven-touchdown rookie season in 2013.

Marlon Brown caught 3-of-3 targets for 64 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.

Brown caught a 42-yard deep bomb from Matt Schaub with his fingertips. It was a "remember me" play headed into final cuts. Brown closes the preseason with five catches for 100 yards. Not exactly electric numbers, but Brown's spot should be secure as first-rounder Breshad Perriman battles a PCL injury.

Marlon Brown caught one pass for 15 yards in the Ravens' third preseason game.

With Breshad Perriman (knee) out, Brown played as the No. 3 receiver behind Steve Smith and Kamar Aiken. His roster spot was thought to be in question earlier in camp, but his usage in this game suggests his job is secure. Marlon Brown has two catches for 36 yards this preseason. He is not on the redraft radar.

The Baltimore Sun questions whether third-year WR Marlon Brown will make the 53-man roster.

Brown missed a huge chunk of camp with back and hamstring injuries, and beat writer Jeff Zriebec says Brown "hasn't looked right" since returning, playing "extremely tentative" and getting very few reps. Zriebec suggests Brown could end up losing his roster spot to Michael Campanaro or rookie Darren Waller.

Ravens WR Marlon Brown (back) returned to practice on Monday.

Brown was "very limited" in his first day back. Kamar Aiken started the Ravens' opening preseason game, and Michael Campanaro scored a long touchdown. Brown will have to get healthy in a hurry to catch those two on the depth chart.

Ravens WR Marlon Brown underwent an MRI on his back and is dealing with a nerve issue.

Coach John Harbaugh said Brown "could miss some time," hinting at more of a week-to-week problem than day-to-day. With both Brown and Breshad Perriman (knee) sidelined, it has allowed Kamar Aiken to gobble up first-team reps opposite Steve Smith Sr. The Ravens are trying to sort out the pecking order behind Smith. Second-year slot man Michael Campanaro is also in the mix.

Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken and rookie Breshad Perriman all saw snaps as the No. 2 receiver during minicamp.

Perriman is expected to win the job, but both Aiken and Brown should have an important role in the offense. Brown's role could come in the red zone, where he was surprisingly not targeted once last season after converting seven of 14 red-zone looks in 2013.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh believes it "should be a big year" for Marlon Brown.

Brown will open the year no higher than No. 3 on the depth chart after the Ravens selected Breshad Perriman in the first round, but there will still be plenty of targets for the taking. In theory, Brown will battle it out with Kamar Aiken to be No. 3 on the wideout targets totem pole. Standing in at 6-foot-5, Brown wasn't targeted inside the 20-yard line last season. That needs to change in 2015.

The Ravens are not expected to go into the season with Marlon Brown or Kamar Aiken as a starting receiver.

The Ravens currently have 35-year-old Steve Smith and a bunch of borderline NFL players on their wideout depth chart. Perhaps no team is more likely to spend a priority draft pick at the position, especially with pass-happy Marc Trestman coordinating the offense. The Ravens hold the No. 26 overall pick, a spot they could land someone like Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong or Central Florida WR Breshad Perriman.
