Falcons coach Dan Quinn said the team needs to improve its turnover margin to reach the playoffs.
"Until we get our football right, in terms of our turnover margin and the way we want to ballhawk it and take care of it offensively," said Quinn, "We won’t be as good as we can get." Atlanta's 2015 defense did a decent job forcing turnovers, but Matt Ryan threw 16 interceptions and the offense turned the ball over 30 times en route to a -7 turnover differential. The Seahawks were always near the top of turnover margin when Quinn was in Seattle, mostly because the offense limited giveaways. Feb 1 - 12:08 PM

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said he has "complete confidence" in coach Dan Quinn.

"He's going to be a great head coach for us for many years," Blank said after a 38-0 thrashing at the hands of the Panthers gave the Falcons their sixth-straight loss. Quinn is in no danger of losing his job, but there will likely be changes in the front office this offseason. OC Kyle Shanahan, who is catching most of the flak for Matt Ryan's regression, could also be on the hot seat.

Profootballtalk confirms new Falcons coach Dan Quinn has final say over the 53-man roster.

It's quite a coup for a 44-year-old rookie head coach. Quinn has never been a head coach at any level, and only coordinated NFL defenses for two seasons. While Quinn may have final say, assistant GM Scott Pioli and GM Thomas Dimitroff should do most of the personnel heavy lifting. We doubt Quinn will be in the business of frequently overruling them in 2015.

Falcons hired Dan Quinn as head coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

The Falcons had their eyes on Quinn from the start of their hiring process, and Quinn reportedly preferred the Atlanta job over any other. Quinn's decision makes sense with a franchise quarterback in place. Seattle's defensive coordinator the past three seasons, 44-year-old Quinn will immediately get to work to fix one of the league's worst defenses. Kyle Shanahan has already been hired to coordinate the offense. GM Thomas Dimitroff and fellow personnel man Scott Pioli need to inject talent into the roster.

Profootballtalk reports the Falcons plan to name Seahawks DC Dan Quinn head coach on Tuesday.

The Falcons have been linked to Quinn for weeks, but NFL rules prevent him from taking the job until Seattle's season ends. Kyle Shanahan has already been hired to run Quinn's offense, with Richard Smith and Raheem Morris expected to help coordinate the defense. Quinn will bring Seattle's highly-successful Cover-3 scheme to Atlanta. The Seahawks have led the league in total defense under Quinn the last two years.

The Falcons will conduct a second interview with Seahawks DC Dan Quinn in Seattle on Monday.

Since the Seahawks advanced to the Super Bowl, the Falcons have to wait two weeks to hire Quinn as their new head coach. But ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that they will wait and he is "their expected choice." The Falcons' backup plan is Lions DC Teryl Austin.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Falcons have "privately told people their plan" is to hire Seahawks DC Dan Quinn as head coach.

The Falcons have waited this long, so they may as well keep sitting on their hands. They'll interview Quinn again on Monday no matter if the Seahawks win or lose on Sunday. If the Seahawks win, they'll have two weeks before the Super Bowl and Atlanta will be able to talk to Quinn this upcoming week. It'd be tough to wait another two weeks to formally announce the hire because Quinn may have a tough time assembling a coaching staff after the "free agent" coaches have been picked through, but Falcons brass appears ready to remain patient. Quinn and Lions DC Teryl Austin are believed to be the only real candidates for the job.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Seahawks DC Dan Quinn is the "favorite" to become the Falcons' next head coach.

The Falcons are willing to wait for the Seahawks' season to end in order to get a chance to hire Quinn. And Quinn is willing to wait for Atlanta. First off, however, the Falcons will interview Lions DC Teryl Austin on Wednesday. Things can change rapidly, but the Atlanta job is likely going to Quinn. Quinn can whip the defense into shape and let Matt Ryan and Julio Jones carry the offense.

NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini reports Seahawks DC Dan Quinn wants the Falcons' head-coaching job.

The question is whether the Falcons can afford to wait on Quinn, who may not be available for another three weeks if the Seahawks get past the Packers in the NFC Championship game this Sunday. Quinn was thought to be high on the Jets' list of candidates, but they moved on to Todd Bowles after Quinn's Seahawks beat Carolina last weekend. The Falcons are hosting Lions DC Teryl Austin for a second interview Wednesday. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora passed along buzz that Miami could make a play for Quinn after the Super Bowl.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Broncos want to interview Seahawks DC Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancy.

The Broncos might be a little late to the party, but Quinn's team is still alive in the playoffs and remains free game for all the clubs looking for a new head coach. All Quinn would have to do in his Denver interview is pop in the game tape from last year's Super Bowl when his Seahawks defense dominated the Peyton Manning-led Broncos from start to finish. Quinn will get any job he wants.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jets were prepared to fly to Seattle to hire Seahawks DC Dan Quinn as head coach if the Seahawks lost to the Panthers.

Jets owner Woody Johnson had the private jet gassed up and ready to make the cross-country trip. But the Seahawks took down Carolina, and the Jets will have to wait at least another week before they can speak to Quinn for a second time. It appears Quinn is the overwhelming favorite to succeed Rex Ryan.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are Seahawks DC Dan Quinn's "top choice," and there is "strong" reason to believe the feeling is mutual.

The Daily News expects the Jets to tab Texans exec Mike Maccagnan as GM. Jets brass and Maccagnan have interviewed twice together and went out to dinner on Friday night "before an official decision was to be made." The Jets have "strong interest" in hiring Quinn, who wants Kyle Shanahan as his offensive coordinator. Quinn reportedly also wants former Bucs GM Mark Dominik -- currently of ESPN -- to join the Jets' front office, most likely in a salary cap/contracts role behind "football guy" Maccagnan.

The Bills and Falcons will interview Seahawks DC Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancies on Sunday.

We had already known about the Falcons' interest in Quinn, but Buffalo's is new, and Quinn will have interviewed for every head-coach opening besides the Raiders once Sunday is over. He seems like a good bet to land one of the jobs. However, if the Seahawks advance through the playoffs and to the Super Bowl, Quinn may have to wait again. Teams typically like to have their head coach in place before February. Quinn is doing interviews with Seattle on a bye.

The Bears will interview Seahawks DC Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancy on Friday.

Quinn has a busy schedule, as he'll meet with both the Bears and Jets on Friday with the Seahawks on a bye the first week of the playoffs. Quinn has drawn interest from every team looking for a new head coach. He interviewed with the 49ers earlier this week. The Falcons will meet with Quinn on Saturday.

The 49ers will interview Seahawks DC Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancy on Tuesday.

The 49ers are looking toward their arch-rivals for their first attempt at finding their replacement for Jim Harbaugh. Quinn is also drawing interesting from the Jets and Falcons, so the 49ers may be compelled to act quickly if they like what they hear on Tuesday.
