Steelers selected Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt with the No. 46 overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Tuitt (6-foot-5, 299) arrived in South Bend as a five-star recruit and made 28 starts, tallying 25 career tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. As a 19-year-old true sophomore in 2012, Tuitt registered 13 TFLs, 12 sacks, and 3 FFs. A 21-year-old NFL rookie, Tuitt is a long-armed (34 3/4") five technique who's still learning how to play. His effort was inconsistent, particularly as a junior in 2013, and he looked stiffer than ever on tape last season after gaining too much bad weight. He slimmed down during the pre-draft phase and offers a very high ceiling. The Steelers, who used their first-round pick on "Mack" ILB Ryan Shazier, continue to get a much-needed youth infusion in their front seven.
