Donte Moncrief played on a season-high 81.5 percent of the snaps in Sunday's loss at Dallas.
With T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) sidelined, Moncrief's snap count was right where we thought it would be. What we didn't see coming was Hakeem Nicks getting all the high-percentage throws (9-72-0 on 11 targets) and Andrew Luck laying a massive egg. The result was a hideous 2-5-0 on three targets for Moncrief, sending both DFS and season-long owners into the shower for a long and lonely cry. Dec 22 - 11:37 AM

Donte Moncrief caught 2-of-3 targets for five yards Week 16 against the Cowboys.

With the Colts "featuring" Hakeem Nicks, Moncrief was invisible most of the game. He did see one deep target late in the first half, but Andrew Luck made a poor throw, forcing Moncrief to break up the pass in order to prevent an interception. Moncrief has all the talent in the world, but his workload is difficult to predict week to week.
Dec 21 - 7:56 PM

Donte Moncrief is the Colts' starting wide receiver opposite Reggie Wayne in Sunday's game against Dallas.

Third-round rookie Moncrief got the nod over Hakeem Nicks. Moncrief is a high-upside WR3 play in fantasy football leagues, with a raised floor due to T.Y. Hilton's (hamstring) inactivity.
Dec 21 - 3:16 PM

Donte Moncrief out-snapped Hakeem Nicks 36-22 in the Week 15 win over the Texans.

It represented a dip from Week 14, however, when Moncrief out-snapped Nicks 50-18. Moncrief was targeted just three times against Houston, failing to reel in any of the passes and posting a goose egg. There are simply too many mouths to feed in the Colts' offense. The only way Moncrief's targets will rise is if an injury occurs. And that may have happened Sunday with T.Y. Hilton tweaking his hamstring late. He's going for an MRI on Monday. If Hilton is forced to miss time, Moncrief would seem to be the biggest beneficiary for Week 16.
Dec 15 - 10:12 AM

Donte Moncrief caught zero passes on four targets in Sunday's 17-10 Week 15 win over the Texans.

It was an extremely frustrating day for the entire Colts pass game. Andrew Luck was not sharp, generating just two scoring drives on 14 possessions. Moncrief was the No. 3 wideout ahead of Hakeem Nicks, but was not on the field when Nicks caught a 26-yard TD pass in the second quarter. Moncrief also had Danieal Manning beat deep for a bomb, but Luck overthrew him by a half-yard. Later, Moncrief had a 48-yard TD off a deflection called back by a holding penalty drawn by J.J. Watt. The physically freakish rookie's usage was reasonable in this one, but Moncrief showed today he needs Reggie Wayne sidelined to really be a safe fantasy play. There are just too many mouths to feed in Indy.
Dec 14 - 4:11 PM

Donte Moncrief out-snapped Hakeem Nicks 50-18 in Sunday's win at Cleveland.

We can officially call the fight here -- Moncrief has won the No. 3 wideout job. However, it's discouraging that the freakishly talented rookie saw just four targets on a day Andrew Luck threw 53 passes. Moncrief has garnered exactly four targets in three straight games now, volume that leaves him only in the volatile WR3 range heading into Week 15 against the Texans. However, perhaps Reggie Wayne's multitude of injuries/inept play will lead to a bigger role for Moncrief. He needs to be owned in all competitive formats.
Dec 8 - 9:06 AM

Donte Moncrief secured 3-of-4 targets for 33 yards in the Colts' Week 14 win over the Browns.

Moncrief had a sensational catch-and-run on the Colts' game-winning drive, picking up 27 yards with physical YAC. He continues to be maddeningly underutilized by the Colts' coaching staff, but is an obvious playmaker on the field. Moncrief will remain a boom-or-bust WR3 option when Indianapolis takes on Houston in Week 15. Long term, Moncrief has Dynasty value in the WR1 range.
Dec 7 - 5:19 PM

Donte Moncrief played on 28 snaps during Sunday's win over the Redskins, 11 more than Hakeem Nicks.

Over the last two weeks, Moncrief has encouragingly out-snapped Nicks twice. However, he's discouragingly still only playing on 44.9 percent of the snaps during that span, leading to a total of seven targets. Regardless, the freakishly talented Moncrief is obviously trending up and is a must-own as the No. 3 receiver in an Andrew Luck offense. If the Browns stick Joe Haden on T.Y. Hilton in Week 14, Moncrief will be needed to step up.
Dec 1 - 10:14 AM

Donte Moncrief caught 3-of-4 targets for 134 yards and two touchdowns Week 13 against the Redskins.

The Redskins did not have an answer for the Colts' deep passing game, and Moncrief burned the Washington secondary for two long touchdowns passes of 48 and 79 yards. Despite only seeing four targets, Moncrief opened the game with the starters and appeared to soundly out-snap Hakeem Nicks. He is establishing himself as the No. 3 receiver in the Colts' high-powered offense. Moncrief needs to be owned in 12-team leagues.
Nov 30 - 4:42 PM

Donte Moncrief played on 30 snaps in Sunday's win over the Jaguars, two more than Hakeem Nicks.

Reggie Wayne led the way by playing on 71-of-76 snaps, followed by T.Y. Hilton's 59. So Moncrief's count was skewed a bit by Hilton taking it easy (presumably because he was operating on no sleep after the birth of his daughter), but it's still notable that the rookie is eating into the washed-up Nicks' time. If we can ever get into a spot where we know Moncrief is going to get 60-70 percent of the snaps, he'll be a strong WR2/3 play.
Nov 24 - 9:25 AM

Donte Moncrief caught four passes for 38 yards in the Colts' Week 12 win over the Jaguars.

Hakeem Nicks was first man up in three-wide sets, but Moncrief ate into that playing time as the game continued. Moncrief drew four targets to Nicks' one. Hopefully the Colts realize how Moncrief is lightyears better than Nicks and up his snaps over the final month of the season. Until then, Moncrief won't be a recommended fantasy play. If it happens, he'll be on the WR2/3 map.
Nov 23 - 4:55 PM

Donte Moncrief was held without a catch in Week 11.

He had just one target. Moncrief played limited snaps behind Hakeem Nicks again this week. He could become a bigger part of the offense down the stretch, but won't be a viable fantasy play until he overtakes Nicks as the No. 3 wideout.
Nov 17 - 2:02 AM

Donte Moncrief played on just nine snaps through 2:57 left in the third quarter of Monday night's win at New York.

Moncrief finished with 25 snaps, but that's irrelevant. Before garbage time, he was out-snapped by Hakeem Nicks 37-9, a maddening number for anyone that has watched Nicks play at all this year. Until the coaches make the move and insert Moncrief as the No. 3 wideout, he won't be a viable fantasy play.
Nov 4 - 8:41 AM

Donte Moncrief caught just one pass for two yards in the Colts' Week 9 win over the Colts.

Moncrief secured his lone target as he played well behind No. 3 receiver Hakeem Nicks with Reggie Wayne (elbow) back in the lineup as the No. 2 to No. 1 T.Y. Hilton. Moncrief played maybe ten snaps before garbage time. Nicks managed just 3-44-0 on four targets. Moncrief's unpredictable playing time is a major concern for his re-draft value.
Nov 4 - 1:24 AM

Speaking Thursday, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said he'd like to get third-round receiver Donte Moncrief as many touches as possible.

It's an extremely promising statement from a coach who's opened up his offense this season, and an indication that Moncrief might finally be moving ahead of a decrepit Hakeem Nicks on the depth chart. That being said, Moncrief is likely to remain an inconsistent WR3/4 with T.Y. Hilton, Reggie Wayne, Dwayne Allen and Ahmad Bradshaw all scrounging for targets.
