Jaguars claimed S Calvin Pryor off waivers from the Browns.

Pryor made it past final cuts with Cleveland, but was released for fighting teammate Ricardo Louis. He reunites with assistant GM John Idzik in Jacksonville, who drafted Pryor in 2014 with the Jets. Pryor is solid depth behind Tashaun Gipson and Barry Church.
Sep 8 - 4:39 PM

Browns waived S Calvin Pryor.

The scuttlebutt is that Pryor was let go for fighting a teammate, reportedly WR Ricardo Louis. The 25 year old former first-rounder lasted just three months in Cleveland after being acquired from the Jets in June. Derrick Kindred and first-round rookie Jabril Peppers enter Week 1 as the Browns' top safeties.
Sep 7 - 1:24 PM

Browns acquired S Calvin Pryor from the Jets in exchange for ILB Demario Davis.

As Pryor was rumored to be on the trade block even before the Jets used their first two picks on safeties, this move does not come as a surprise and looks like a win-win. Pryor will have a good chance to start next to first-round rookie Jabrill Peppers in Cleveland, while the Jets add needed and familiar depth at linebacker in Davis, who played in New York from 2012-15. After the Jets passed on his fifth-year option, Pryor is set to be a free agent after this season.
Jun 1 - 8:56 AM

Jets S Calvin Pryor has spent time with the third-team defense in OTAs.

In case it wasn't already clear, Pryor is on the outs with the Jets. He will not be a starter in 2017. The question is whether he'll be with the team at all. Working in Pryor's favor is the fact that the Jets can't recoup any savings/cap space by cutting his $1.6 million salary, but it's possible the situation has become unworkable after the Jets used their first two picks on safeties.
May 30 - 1:38 PM

Jets S Calvin Pryor is participating in voluntary OTAs.

Pryor didn't report to Day 1 of OTAs. There was speculation he could hold out after the Jets declined his fifth-year option and drafted safeties with their first two picks. Owed a fully guaranteed $1.6 million salary, the Jets wouldn't save any money from releasing Pryor.
May 24 - 5:01 PM

ESPN New York believes Jets S Calvin Pryor might be a candidate for release.

Pryor is skipping voluntary OTAs, and coach Todd Bowles said he didn't want to discuss Pryor's absence. The Jets clearly do not have Pryor in their long-term plans after they spent first- and second-round picks on safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. The Jets also declined Pryor's fifth-year option.
May 23 - 4:54 PM

Jets walk-year S Calvin Pryor was not spotted at the beginning of OTAs.

Pryor has been the subject of trade rumors all offseason, and the Jets declined his fifth-year option after selecting two safeties with their first two picks in the draft. Pryor can certainly see the writing on the wall, and he may look to force the issue by holding out. That said, these workouts are voluntary.
May 23 - 11:05 AM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Jets will not pick up SS Calvin Pryor's fifth-year option for 2018.

It is not a surprise after the Jets added two safeties in the first two rounds of the draft. New York would undoubtedly like to trade Pryor, but that may be difficult with the draft finished. Pryor is now scheduled to be a free agent after the season.
May 2 - 8:44 AM

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan declined to say whether the team would pick up SS Calvin Pryor's fifth-year option for 2018.

That means he's probably a goner after this year. Pryor arrived in New York with huge expectations but has been a colossal bust, grading out as PFF's No. 87 safety out of 91 qualifiers in 2016. ESPN's Rich Cimini previously suggested the Jets could look to trade Pryor, but we imagine interest would be scant.
Mar 24 - 2:44 PM

A league source told ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini that New York may look to trade SS Calvin Pryor this offseason.

Pryor was the 18th pick in the 2014 draft by the John Idzik-Rex Ryan regime. Ryan immediately compared Pryor to former All-Pro Jack Tatum. Despite laying an occasional big hit, Pryor has been a non-playmaker for Gang Green. With 42 career games under his belt, Pryor has forced just two fumbles and picked off two passes. He's constantly out of place in coverage.

Jets SS Calvin Pryor has been removed from the Week 14 injury report.

He's cleared the concussion protocol. Pryor will miss only one game after sitting out last week. His return upgrades the Jets run defense.
Fri, Dec 9, 2016 07:31:00 PM

Jets SS Calvin Pryor (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 13.

Pryor didn't practice all week and remains in the concussion protocol. Rontez Miles will start against the Colts.
Sat, Dec 3, 2016 02:31:00 PM

Jets SS Calvin Pryor suffered a concussion in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Patriots.

He gets an extra day to pass through the NFL's protocol concussion testing with the Jets facing the Colts on Monday night. Pryor has had some bad moments in pass coverage this year, but he has fared well in run support.
Mon, Nov 28, 2016 03:50:00 PM

Jets SS Calvin Pryor feels like he has not come close to reaching his potential.

"I haven't even hit the ceiling fan yet," Pryor said. "I think with Year 3, I can only get better." Pryor struggled as a rookie as the Jets were forced to play him out of position at free safety, but he was steadier in his natural strong safety role as a sophomore. With another offseason to become completely comfortable in Todd Bowles' defense, the Jets will hope Pryor can take another step forward this year.
