According to Mike Klis of 9News Denver, the Broncos "inquired" about RT Ja'Wuan James but were told he's not available.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Miami was shopping James, but they must have had a change of heart. There was thought that James could be a cap casualty, but after the Dolphins traded Jarvis Landry and cut Ndamukong Suh, that's no longer necessary. James showed well in 2017, earning PFF's No. 10 pass-blocking grade among 83 qualifiers at tackle. His fifth-year team option will be guaranteed on Wednesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Dolphins are shopping RT Ja'Wuan James.

This report is usually the precursor to a player being cut, which James is expected to be before his fifth-year option guarantees when the new league year begins on Wednesday. The former first-round pick has been an effective right tackle for a team which needs as many quality linemen as possible, so this seems like purely a money decision. James should have no shortage of suitors if he hits the open market.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase confirmed RT Ja'Wuan James is a candidate for release.

"As far as medically, James is healthy and we’ve got to make a decision here coming up," Gase said. "We’ve still got a couple weeks." James missed the final eight games last season but is healthy enough that his fifth-year option isn't guaranteed. The Dolphins don't have any obvious in-house options to take over at right tackle, but may look to draft his replacement. A 2014 first-rounder, James wouldn't struggle for interest if he hits free agency.

The Miami Herald believes the Dolphins could move on from RT Ja'Wuan James this offseason.

The 2014 first-rounder is under contract for $9 million under his fifth-year team option, which is guaranteed for injury only. James spent the second half of the season on injured reserve with a groin issue but should be able to pass a physical by the start of the new league year. James was having a solid year before going down and was also effective in 2016. Perhaps the Dolphins will try to work out a multi-year extension that lowers James' cap number.
Jan 11 - 5:40 PM

The Palm Beach Post considers RT Ja'Wuan James a candidate for a 2018 extension.

James is out for the year after landing on IR. He was a top-five pass blocker before going down, but the Dolphins aren't as high on him as his PFF grades. James is signed through 2018 at $9.3 million. He's likely to target the five-year, $33.75 million deal Bryan Bulaga got from the Packers.

Dolphins placed RT Ja'Wuan James (groin) on injured reserve.

After starting eight games and grading out as Pro Football Focus' No.2 right tackle, James will miss the remainder of the season. This is a huge loss for the Dolphins offensive line. Sam Young will likely start in his place.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James (groin) is expected to be out "an extended period of time" and could miss the rest of the season.

James has started all eight games this season but went down late in last Sunday night's loss to the Raiders. Journeyman Sam Young came on to replace him. James has been one of Miami's best linemen this season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 right tackle when it comes to pass protection.

Dolphins exercised RT Ja'Wuan James' fifth-year team option for 2018.

The deadline for 2014 first-rounders to have their options picked up is Wednesday. James, the No. 19 overall pick that year, graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 31 tackle out of 76 qualifiers last season, receiving plus marks for his run blocking. He has started 40 games across three seasons.

Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James confirms he's remained on the right side this spring.

James was a candidate to kick inside after the Dolphins used their first-round pick on Laremy Tunsil, but at least for now, it's Tunsil who is playing guard. James is coming off an ineffective, injury-shortened season. He doesn't have much room for error with Tunsil waiting in the wings.

There's an "outside chance" Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James (toe) is back for Week 15.

James has missed the Dolphins' past five games, and this weekend will make it six. It's a little curious he hasn't been sent to injured reserve. Jason Fox is filling in.

Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James (toe) does not need surgery.

"We’re going to let this thing heal up and we anticipate having him back in a few weeks," coach Dan Campbell said. Despite the good news, James is still expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Jason Fox will start at right tackle while he is out.

Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James (toe) may need surgery.

"We’re kind of looking at all of the options and all the scenarios," Campbell said. "We know it’s not good, but we don’t know quite how bad it is yet." James was originally given a 4-6 week timetable, but he could miss even more time if he goes under the knife. Jason Fox will start at right tackle until James returns.

Dolphins RT Ja-Wuan James (toe) is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.

James suffered the injury during the first quarter of Thursday's loss to New England. Jason Fox will take over at right tackle. Miami's pathetic offensive line just got worse.

The Miami Herald reports RT Ja'Wuan James (toe) is expected to miss "multiple games."

James has not been playing at a high level this season, but his loss would force an even less impressive Jason Fox back into the starting lineup.
