After visiting Browns camp, ESPN's Adam Caplan came away believing the team envisions LG Joel Bitonio as a future "star."
The 35th overall pick in May's draft, Bitonio was selected by receiver-needy Cleveland over the likes of Marqise Lee, Paul Richardson, and Allen Robinson. They loved his college tape, and Bitonio graded out as a top-eight run-blocking guard in the first week of preseason, per Pro Football Focus. Bitonio was facing the Lions' star-studded defensive line. It was an impressive debut. Aug 15 - 1:28 PM

Browns coach Mike Pettine said he is "very confident" with rookie LG Joel Bitonio.

"He is NFL ready," said Pettine. "We’re very comfortable and very confident there with Joel at left guard." Bitonio missed minicamp after suffering a high-ankle sprain during OTAs, but he is healthy and back practicing. Barring injury, he will be Cleveland's left guard Week 1.

Browns second-round OL Joel Bitonio suffered a high-ankle sprain at OTAs, but expects to be ready for the start of training camp.

Bitonio, the 35th overall pick last month, sat out all of minicamp and continues to rehab the injury on summer break. It's a multi-week issue and can tend to linger. Bitonio is expected to man the left guard post as a rookie.

Broncos signed No. 35 overall pick Joel Bitonio to a four-year contract.

Second-rounder Bitonio is penciled in as Cleveland's starting left guard, next to LT Joe Thomas with Alex Mack at center. RG John Greco and RT Mitchell Schwartz form the right side. It's a rock-solid unit in terms of talent, and bodes well for the fantasy outlooks of Ben Tate and/or rookie Terrance West.

Coach Mike Pettine confirmed second-round OL Joel Bitonio will start off inside at guard.

Bitonio has the ability to play any of the five positions on the line, and there's been some talk that he could play right tackle in Cleveland. RT Mitchell Schwartz will stick outside for now, while we project Bitonio to initially play left guard. Our best guess at Cleveland's Week 1 line would be LT Joe Thomas, Bitonio, C Alex Mack, RG John Greco, and Schwartz. Greco and Bitonio could flip-flop.

Browns selected Nevada OL Joel Bitonio with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Bitonio (6-foot-4 1/4, 302) started 37 games for the Wolf Pack, earning first-team All-Mountain West honors as a senior left tackle. Labeled one of this draft's top offensive line sleepers by NFL Network's Mike Mayock, Bitonio combines a physical playing style with 34-inch arms and plus athleticism (4.97 forty, 32-inch vertical). NFL teams worked him out at tackle, guard, and center during the pre-draft process. Bitonio will likely slide in at left guard with the Browns.

ESPN's Adam Caplan expects Nevada OL Joel Bitonio to be a top-50 selection in next week's draft.

That's on the safe side. Bitonio's stock has been steadily on the rise the past month-plus. Caplan reports most teams think Bitonio can play left tackle, right tackle, and both guard spots. Bitonio himself said teams view him as a guard or center. He worked out at all five positions at his Pro Day. Bitonio has a legitimate shot to go at the end of the first round. The Panthers are reportedly high on him.
