Lorenzo Taliaferro was held to three yards on four carries in the Ravens' Week 7 loss to the Falcons.
Taliaferro has fallen clearly behind Justin Forsett and Bernard Pierce, and is no longer worth waiting on in 12-team leagues. He remains borderline stash-worthy in 14- and 16-teamers, but would need a Forsett or Pierce injury to matter. Oct 19 - 5:50 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed for 29 yards on two carries in the Ravens' Week 6 win over the Bucs.

He added two catches for 18 yards. Taliaferro was the clear No. 3 back behind Justin Forsett and Bernard Pierce. Pierce out-touched Taliaferro 15-4 and also scored a touchdown. Taliaferro isn't worth holding onto in 12-team leagues with Forsett producing as the starter and Pierce making a move up the depth chart.
Oct 12 - 4:42 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed for 18 yards on five carries in Baltimore's Week 5 loss to Indianapolis.

Taliaferro was the second back through the rotation behind Justin Forsett. Bernard Pierce was No. 3 and out-gained Taliaferro 30-18 on one less carry. Taliaferro had a chance to score on a 3rd-and-1 from the 3-yard line but ran right into the back of his offensive lineman and was stopped for no gain. Joe Flacco was sacked on the next play to turn the ball over on downs. Forsett will continue to lead this committee, but Pierce could push Taliaferro for No. 2 duties now that he's healthy.
Oct 5 - 5:45 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed 15 times for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' Week 4 win over the Panthers.

Taliaferro was utilized as Baltimore's "breather" back in the first half, before racking up garbage-time carries in the blowout. The fourth-round rookie did not run with as much purpose or decisiveness as he did in last week's win over the Browns, but did run clearly ahead of Bernard Pierce, who didn't play at all against the Panthers. Taliaferro will remain a dicey flex play in Week 5 at Indianapolis. Justin Forsett simply outplayed him on Sunday. Over his last two games, Taliaferro has 149 yards and two touchdowns on 33 runs (4.52 YPC).
Sep 28 - 4:09 PM

Ravens coach John Harbaugh offered praise for rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro following Sunday's 18-91-1 rushing performance against the Browns.

Although Bernard Pierce is tentatively expected to remain the Ravens' starter, he may be on a short leash going forward. "I think the results speak for themselves with Lorenzo," Harbaugh said after Sunday's win. "He was running downhill, physical and was hard to tackle. That is an element that is a big plus for an offense." Taliaferro needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.

Sep 21 - 9:31 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed 18 times for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' Week 3 win over the Browns, 23-21.

He was not targeted in the passing game, but showed superior interior running ability to Justin Forsett, handling the 18 carries to Forsett's 11. A fourth-round rookie out of Coastal Carolina, Taliaferro should remain in the mix for carries in OC Gary Kubiak's backfield entering a Week 4 date with the Panthers. Bernard Pierce was inactive for Week 3 with a thigh injury and his status moving forward is unclear. As is the pecking order in Kubiak's backfield. A pile-pushing power back, Taliaferro needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.
Sep 21 - 4:04 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro was held without a touch in Baltimore's Week 2 win over the Steelers.

Taliaferro stood on the sideline as Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett combined for 35 touches. However, six of those looks were failed goal-line carries. A load of a human being at 6-foot-0, 226 pounds, Taliaferro should start getting some looks in short-yardage situations. He's a name to keep an eye on.
Sep 12 - 12:52 AM

Rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro did not touch the ball in the Ravens' Week 1 loss to the Bengals.

We saw him in for one play, where Taliaferro was targeted but failed to secure Joe Flacco's errant throw. With Bernard Pierce benched, Taliaferro may have quietly moved to No. 2 on the tailback depth chart, behind Justin Forsett. Ray Rice is due back from suspension in Week 3, however.
Sep 7 - 5:15 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro had 11 carries for 25 yards in Saturday night's preseason game against Washington.

He wasn't targeted in the passing game. With Ray Rice on the sidelines and Bernard Pierce leaving early due to a concussion, Taliaferro and Justin Forsett carried the load at running back. Taliaferro played mostly on pass downs with the first team, with eight of his 11 carries coming in the second half. Forsett played on early downs in place of Pierce. Taliaferro could come into early-season value if Pierce isn't cleared for Week 1. He's now up to 40 carries for 155 yards (3.88 YPC) and a touchdown through three preseason games.
Aug 23 - 11:23 PM

Ravens rookie RB Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed 16 times for 59 yards and a touchdown and caught his lone target for a gain of ten yards in Saturday night's second preseason game against Dallas.

Taliaferro worked behind Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce for the second straight preseason game, running with the second- and third-team offenses. He's shown an impressively powerful running approach, although Taliaferro's upright style may have contributed to his fumble Saturday night, which was recovered by rookie QB Keith Wenning. We're not yet ready to rule Taliaferro out of Baltimore's running back picture. He runs angry and can pass block.
Aug 16 - 10:49 PM

Ravens fourth-round pick Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed 13 times for 71 yards in Thursday night's preseason opener against the 49ers.

He was the fourth back through Baltimore's rotation, working behind Ray Rice, Bernard Pierce, and Justin Forsett. Taliaferro was essentially Baltimore's every-down back throughout the second half, playing in both obvious run situations and passing sets. One of Taliaferro's strengths is his blocking ability. Purely as a runner, he reminds a bit of old Broncos RB Reuben Droughns with a solid all-around game and pile-pushing power. Taliaferro is an interesting Dynasty stash. As for re-draft relevance, Taliaferro has depth chart climbing to do.
Aug 7 - 10:47 PM

Lorenzo Taliaferro's misdemeanor destruction of property and public drunkenness case has been dropped by prosecutors.

Taliaferro didn't even have to attend his court hearing Thursday. The fourth-round rookie is competing with Justin Forsett and Cierre Wood for time behind Bernard Pierce and Ray Rice.
Jul 31 - 10:58 AM

Ravens rookie RB Lorenzo Taliaferro's misdemeanor destruction of property and public drunkenness case has been continued to July 31.

Taliaferro's original date was Thursday, but his attorney got a continuance. The downside is Taliaferro may miss some early camp time to deal with his legal matters. Rookies report on July 17, and the Ravens' first full-squad practice is July 24. It's also possible Taliaferro will just send his lawyer, however. Taliaferro is competing for time in Baltimore's up-for-grabs backfield.
Jun 23 - 1:24 PM

The Ravens maintain "high expectations" for fourth-round RB Lorenzo Taliaferro despite his off-field issues.

Taliaferro was arrested for two misdemeanor charges earlier this week, but his status with the Ravens is unchanged. He's a candidate to open the season in a short-yardage and third-down role if Ray Rice is suspended. Bernard Pierce (shoulder) has been participating in OTAs and is on track to be ready for camp.

May 31 - 8:37 PM

Ravens fourth-round RB Lorenzo Taliaferro was arrested Saturday in Virginia and charged with destruction of property and public drunkenness.

Per the Williamsburg (VA) PD, Taliaferro was arrested around 1:15 AM. He allegedly was getting out of a taxi cab, gripped one of the windows, and broke it. Taliaferro was found and arrested a block away from the scene. Both charges are misdemeanors, but it's not a good first impression. Taliaferro and Ray Rice's off-field woes set up Bernard Pierce for a big early-season role.
