The Chiefs expect Albert Wilson to be "fine" after Friday night's shoulder scare.
He escaped with a mild AC sprain in the shoulder. It's a "minor deal," per coach Andy Reid. Wilson is currently on track to open the season starting opposite Jeremy Maclin, but should be feeling some heat from Chris Conley. Aug 28 - 11:35 PM

Albert Wilson left Friday's preseason game with a shoulder injury.

Wilson went down after making a 16-yard catch on the opening drive. The Chiefs are listing his return as questionable, but he's likely done for the game. Wilson's injury gives rookie Chris Conley a chance to play opposite Jeremy Maclin.

ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher reports WR Albert Wilson has been "mostly quiet in training camp and the preseason."

Wilson generated some buzz with a nice finish to 2014, but has only two catches for 15 yards through two preseason games. He's been the subject of relatively few "puff pieces" from Chiefs practice since the beginning of OTAs. Wilson isn't a bad WR5 flier in 14-team leagues, but his upside is limited with Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce set to dominate targets in the Chiefs' passing game.
Aug 27 - 11:11 PM

Albert Wilson is listed as a starter on the Chiefs' first depth chart of training camp.

With Chris Conley (knee) on the shelf, Wilson is listed as the first-team No. 2 receiver ahead of De'Anthony Thomas. Jeremy Maclin is the other starter, with slot receiver Jason Avant listed behind him. Wilson is in the driver's seat to open the year as an every-down player. He's worth a look late in MFL10s.
Aug 8 - 12:12 AM

Chiefs OC Doug Pederson said Alex Smith and Albert Wilson are "really on the same page."

In the three games that both Smith and Wilson started together last year, Wilson averaged 4.0 catches for 69.6 yards with no touchdowns. We're not going to go overboard on a 5-foot-9 complementary receiver playing with a very conservative quarterback, but Wilson has more natural ability than perceived. He's a flier in deeper formats, especially with Chris Conley nursing a knee issue.
Aug 4 - 11:54 AM

Chiefs WR Albert Wilson is opening camp as a starter opposite Jeremy Maclin.

Wilson is battling third-rounder Chris Conley for No. 2 duties. A 2014 undrafted free agent, Wilson steadily climbed the depth chart as a rookie before catching 12 passes over Kansas City's final four games. Wilson offers little-to-no re-draft appeal behind Travis Kelce and Jeremy Maclin for targets, but could make some noise as a cheap best-ball pick and/or DFS play this season.
Jul 27 - 2:17 PM

Chiefs coach Andy Reid expects WR Albert Wilson (hamstring) to be ready for minicamp.

Reid described Wilson's injury as a "knot." Even if Wilson isn't ready for minicamp, his training-camp status is not in doubt. Wilson could put himself on the WR3/4 radar if he wins starting duties opposite Jeremy Maclin.
Jun 4 - 2:03 PM

Chiefs WR Albert Wilson suffered a strained hamstring in Wednesday's OTA.

He'll likely miss the remainder of OTAs and seems unlikely to participate in minicamp later this month. Wilson came on late in the season and finished with a 16-260-0 receiving line. He's expected to compete with rookie Chris Conley for the starting job opposite new No. 1 receiver Jeremy Maclin.
Jun 3 - 2:58 PM

Albert Wilson is expected to battle third-round WR Chris Conley for a starting job opposite Jeremy Maclin.

The 5-foot-9 Wilson can't match up with the physical freak Conley on paper. But there's also a question of fit, as Conley is a receiver that needs to be given a chance to win 1-on-1 battles downfield and Alex Smith is afraid to make those throws. Ultimately, we'd expect a situational time share, with Andy Reid favorite Jason Avant also getting the mix. Smith's limitations curb most of the fantasy appeal in Kansas City outside of Travis Kelce and Jeremy Maclin.
May 4 - 12:35 PM

ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher confirms the team likes WR Albert Wilson.

Right now, Wilson is penciled in as the No. 2 wideout opposite Jeremy Maclin. It would be a big leap of faith in the 5-foot-9 slot man and former UDFA out of Georgia State, but he showed some serious playmaking chops down the stretch last season. Over the last four weeks, Wilson caught 12 passes for 209 yards. Expect the Chiefs to add competition via the draft, but Wilson is at least in the mix to start and be the No. 3 target behind Maclin and Travis Kelce.
Mar 23 - 8:46 AM

Chiefs GM John Dorsey said it's uncertain if Albert Wilson can be a No. 2 wideout.

The Chiefs had a fifth-round grade on the 5'9/200 Wilson as he came out of Georgia State. They were able to scoop him as a UDFA and then watched him climb the depth chart steadily. Over the last four weeks of the season, Wilson caught 12 passes for 209 yards with no touchdowns. "I think what you do is you wait to get into training camp to make that determination," Dorsey said when asked about Wilson as a No. 2. "He's got a chance to be a pretty good player." Wilson will be a part of the Chiefs' plans in 2015, but they're not doing cartwheels over him.
Jan 6 - 11:15 AM

Albert Wilson was held without a catch in Week 17.

He finished with only three targets. Wilson replaced Donnie Avery as the No. 2 receiver in Week 14 and was averaging four catches and 70 yards over his previous three games. His season ends with16 catches for 260 yards. An undrafted rookie, Wilson has played his way into the Chiefs' 2015 plans.

Albert Wilson caught 5-of-7 targets for 87 yards in the Chiefs' Week 16 loss to the Steelers.

Wilson was a bright spot for the Chiefs on an otherwise bitterly-disappointing day. His 87 yards led the team, and give him 209 over his past three games. Wilson should have had a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter, but Alex Smith overthrew him. An undrafted rookie out of Georgia State, Wilson has undoubtedly played his way into the Chiefs' 2015 plans.

Albert Wilson caught 3-of-5 targets for 69 yards Week 15 against the Raiders.

Wilson caught a 48-yard bomb from Alex Smith in the second quarter and showed sticky hands on a couple underneath throws. Wilson has shown well in two starts with Donnie Avery (groin) sidelined and could carve out a role as a slot receiver in Kansas City. He is a name to monitor in deep PPR Dynasty formats.

Albert Wilson caught 4-of-8 targets for 53 yards Week 14 against the Cardinals.

An undrafted rookie out of Georgia State, Wilson doubled his career target total in this game. The slot receiver had a bad drop, but acquitted himself admirably in his first extended action in the NFL. He is a name to monitor in deep PPR Dynasty formats.
