Chargers signed S Tre Boston, formerly of the Panthers.
Boston is coming off a mediocre year in Carolina, but he is a 24-year-old player with 16 career starts. He's certainly flier worthy for the Chargers. May 12 - 5:30 PM

Free agent S Tre Boston tweeted he is visiting the Steelers, Chargers, and Bills.

The meeting with the Steelers happened Friday, and Boston reports it "went great." He will visit the Chargers next with the Bills and former DC Sean McDermott his final stop. Waived by the Panthers Tuesday, Boston was never going to lack for interest on the open market.

Panthers waived S Tre Boston, FB Devon Johnson, CB Lou Young, OT Jake Rodgers, and OT Jordan Rigsbee.

A fourth-round pick in 2014, Boston is the biggest name in this list, but the move does not come as a surprise. Despite a reasonably effective 10 starts last season, Carolina was reportedly shopping Boston in March after signing Mike Adams in free agency. 24 years old with extensive starting experience, Boston should not have to wait long to find a new home.

The Black and Blue Review reports the Panthers have received trade interest in S Tre Boston.

Specifically, one team called. For now, at least, the Panthers are holding onto the 2014 fourth-rounder, but that's presumably because they don't want to simply give him away. The proposed offer was likely a conditional day-three draft pick. Right now, Boston is the Panthers' No. 3 safety following the signing of Mike Adams.

Panthers placed FS Tre Boston (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Boston aggravated his knee issue on Saturday. His status for the offseason program is unclear. Headed into the final year of his rookie contract, Boston started a career-high 10 games this season, and was reasonably effective. At the very least, he should retain his 53-man roster spot.

Tre Boston is expected to take over as a starting safety for the Panthers.

With Roman Harper back in New Orleans, Boston's path to the starting job opposite Kurt Coleman is wide open. A fourth-round pick in 2014, Boston has played limited snaps on defense through his first two years, but he has three interceptions and a fumble recovery to his name despite the limited playing time. With serious questions at corner, the Panthers need their safety group to be sound.

Tre Boston opened OTAs as the Panthers' starting free safety.

Last year's starting free safety, Kurt Coleman, is shifting to strong safety, replacing veteran Roman Harper, who hasn't been re-signed to this point. Boston entered last offseason as the favorite to start over Coleman, but lost the gig in camp, and Coleman ended up third in the NFL with seven picks.

Panthers fourth-round S Tre Boston is being held out of OTAs after undergoing sports-hernia surgery earlier in the offseason.

The Panthers "hope" to have him back for the start of training camp. Boston projects as a free safety in the NFL and could challenge FS Thomas DeCoud for snaps in year one if DeCoud has as ugly a season as he had with Atlanta in 2013. Boston picked off 12 passes in his college career at North Carolina.

Panthers signed No. 128 overall pick DB Tre Boston to a four-year contract.

A versatile, high-energy playmaker, Boston (6-foot-0, 204 pounds) has experience at both corner and safety. Still only 22 (next month), Boston offers starting-caliber upside if allowed to stick at one position. Thanks to his 4.59 wheels, his most likely NFL home is free safety.

Panthers selected North Carolina DB Tre Boston with the No. 128 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Boston (5-foot-11 5/8, 204) was a versatile, high-energy playmaker in the Tar Heels' secondary, seeing action at both corner and safety and recording 12 career interceptions. He has outstanding ball skills. Boston will only be 22 during his rookie season, and offers starting-caliber upside if given time to perfect his craft at one position. Due to 4.59 speed, Boston's most likely NFL home is free safety. To nail down that position long term, however, Boston needs to improve as an in-space tackler.
