Redskins LCB Bashaud Breeland's MRI came back clean after Friday's in-practice knee injury.

Per coach Jay Gruden, Breeland will be "good to go" against the Vikings "as long as it doesn't swell tonight," in reference to Breeland's knee. The Skins avoid a major scare with their promising fourth-round rookie, who batted away three targets intended for Dez Bryant in last Monday night's upset of Dallas.

Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland hurt his knee in Friday's practice and is questionable for Week 9 against the Vikings.

He'll go for an MRI. Breeland is coming off his best game of his rookie season, when he held Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams to four catches for 52 scoreless yards on eight targets. If Breeland is forced to miss Week 9, Tracy Porter and E.J. Biggers would be the Nos. 2 and 3 corners behind David Amerson.

Redskins rookie CB Bashaud Breeland will start in Week 4 against Giants.

Breeland is replacing DeAngelo Hall, who was placed on injured reserve. He'll start at left corner opposite David Amerson in base sets, with E.J. Biggers or Tracy Porter (questionable, hamstring) playing the slot in sub packages.

Redskins fourth-round DB Bashaud Breeland was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Richmond, Va. on Monday.

Breeland was on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University and was stopped by a university police officer at 10:40 PM. He was issued a summons and will have a hearing on August 26. Breeland had pre-draft concerns due to "several run-ins with the law." It's not a good start to his NFL career. Breeland has been working as a second-team corner and occasional nickel back.

ESPN Redskins blogger John Keim doesn't expect fourth-round pick Bashaud Breeland to see time in nickel packages this season.

Keim considers Tracy Porter the "clear" No. 3 corner despite missing OTAs with a shoulder injury. Breeland was used strictly on the outside during spring workouts and will spend most of 2014 backing up David Amerson and DeAngelo Hall. The Redskins have done little to improve their secondary this offseason and are hoping for upgrades in Porter and 34-year-old Ryan Clark. E.J. Biggers, Chase Minnifield, and Richard Crawford are also competing for roster spots.

Redskins signed fourth-round DB Bashaud Breeland to a four-year contract.

Breeland, the 102nd overall pick, projects as a free safety or No. 2 corner in the long-term at the NFL level. He tumbled down draft boards a bit due to off-field concerns. Breeland has plus size at 5-foot-11 3/8 and 197 pounds.

Redskins selected Clemson DB Bashaud Breeland with the No. 102 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Breeland (5-foot-11 3/8, 197) started 24 games for the Tigers, tallying 8.5 career tackles for loss and six interceptions. As a senior, he was voted third-team All-ACC by the conference's coaches. Breeland managed a 4.62 forty at the Combine and 34 1/2-inch vertical, the measurables of a safety. Breeland did flash press-man skills at Clemson, playing boundary corner and displaying good short-area feet. He improved to 4.57 at his Pro Day, but ultimately is speed deficient. Breeland has a chance to develop into a lower-end No. 2 cornerback or starting free safety.

According to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, Clemson DB Bashaud Breeland could "take a tumble" down the draft after recently having "several run-ins with the law."

Most were minor, but they include an arrest for driving without a license and driving over 100MPH. "Breeland's classroom habits are also a concern," Pauline wrote. NFL teams are allegedly questioning Breeland's "maturity." To this point in the process, Breeland has been a projected second-day pick.
