Giants DT Jay Bromley suffered a knee sprain in the third preseason game.

It's another blow to a Giants defense that also lost CB Eli Apple (ankle). The knee sprain confirms Bromley doesn't have any structural damage, but he'll be in a race to get cleared for Week 1.

Giants DT Jay Bromley said he sees himself taking over Johnathan Hankins' former role.

Hankins left for the Colts in free agency, leaving a starting spot open next to Damon Harrison. Bromley would seem to be the favorite, but the Giants spent a second-round pick on Dalvin Tomlinson and signed veteran Corbin Bryant. With that competition, Bromley will need a strong camp to win the job.

Giants DT Jay Bromley will not be charged with attempted sexual assault, according to his attorney Alex Spiro.

Police investigated Bromley following a January 30 incident at a New York City hotel. He was cleared of any wrongdoing, and now the case is closed. Bromley was never likely to be charged as the New York Post reported his accuser had "significant credibility issues." One of the Giants' few talented young pieces on defense, 23-year-old Bromley is a useful rotational player.

Giants signed third-round DT Jay Bromley to a four-year contract.

Bromley generated minimal pre-draft buzz, but has the measurables and college production that generally translate to next-level success. He's a three-technique penetrator. Bromley could conceivably grow into New York's interior pass rusher of the future. He just turned 22 years old last month.

Giants selected Syracuse DT Jay Bromley with the No. 74 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Bromley (6-foot-3 1/8, 306) reported to February's Combine 26 pounds heavier than his college listing of 280, helping his stock. A three-year starter, Bromley tallied 25.5 career tackles for loss and 14 sacks, including ten as a senior with three forced fumbles. As Bromley just turned 22, he's still growing into his body. An athletic interior penetrator, Bromley is a "three-technique" prospect with 5.06 speed and a 33 1/2-inch vertical. He also played some at end at Syracuse. Bromley will be a rotational player as a rookie in New York. He could grow into an every-down interior starter.
