C.J. Fiedorowicz wasn't targeted in the Texans' Week 17 win over the Jaguars.
The 65th overall pick in May's draft, Fiedorowicz's season can be chalked up as a disappointment, though tight ends take longer to develop than other positions. He played about 500 snaps, but caught just four passes for 28 yards and one touchdown. Fiedorowicz drew some loose Rob Gronkowski comparisons coming out of Iowa and into coach Bill O'Brien's offense, but he'll have to show a lot more. Fiedorowicz is still a guy to monitor in deeper Dynasty leagues. Sun, Dec 28, 2014 05:14:00 PM

Texans rookie TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (foot) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Fiedorowicz is on track to return after missing last week. The Texans should have all three of their tight ends healthy against the Giants.

Texans rookie TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (foot) has been ruled out for Week 2.

Expect to see Garrett Graham in the "move" tight end role against the Raiders, while Ryan Griffin plays the low-volume "in-line" tight end position.

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz is "day to day" with a foot injury.

Fiedorowicz sat out Wednesday and Thursday's practices. He's not looking like a particularly great bet for Week 2, which means Ryan Griffin would back up Garrett Graham, who is returning from a back injury.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (foot) did not practice Wednesday.

Fiedorowicz was an every-down player in his NFL debut last week, but was held without any catches. Garrett Graham (back) resumed practicing Wednesday and could return in Week 2.

C.J. Fiedorowicz had no catches on one target in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Redskins.

With Garrett Graham (back) sidelined, Fiedorowicz started. But he was mostly an in-line blocker, leaving Ryan Griffin to do the "move" things.

Texans rookie TE C.J. Fiedorowicz would start against the Redskins if Garrett Graham (back) is unable to play.

Fiedorowicz would have likely started as the in-line tight end regardless of Graham's status, but Graham's injury could open up more passing-game opportunities for the rookie tight end. Ryan Griffin will also see more snaps if Graham is unable to go. Graham is a game-time decision.

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught two passes for 13 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos.

Fiedorowicz started and caught both of his passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick, confirming he's ahead of Ryan Griffin for the in-line tight end job. Garrett Graham will be the "move" option. Through three preseason games, Fiedorowicz has three grabs for 27 yards and no touchdowns. He projects as a better real-life contributor than fantasy asset in Year 1 thanks to his blocking ability.

ESPN Texans reporter Tania Ganguli observes third-round TE C.J. Fiedorowicz "can do everything."

"Zero problems catching the ball," Ganguli added. The Texans and Broncos are holding joint practices this week, and Fiedorowicz continues to line up as the starting in-line tight end while getting red-zone work. He's an NFL-ready blocker and drew loose Rob Gronkowski comps coming out of Iowa. Coach Bill O'Brien plans to feature his tight ends. Fiedorowicz might be a waiver-wire favorite at some point. He's not yet worth drafting in standard-sized leagues.

CSN Houston reports third-round TE C.J. Fiedorowicz is ahead of Ryan Griffin as the in-line tight end opposite "move" TE Garrett Graham.

Coach Bill O'Brien is likely to make one-back and two-tight end sets his base offensive package, with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins out wide. Graham will play the Aaron Hernandez role, while Fiedorowicz and Griffin compete for the Rob Gronkowski in-line spot. Fiedorowicz has the edge as a player hand-picked by O'Brien. Tight ends see plenty of targets in O'Brien's offenses.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien is referring to third-round pick C.J. Fiedorowicz as a "Y" tight end, or in-line player.

It's the position manned by Rob Gronkowski in O'Brien's Patriots offenses. It's also worth noting Greg Cosell drew a poor man's Gronk comparison after watching Fiedorowicz's game tape. Whereas in other offenses "in-line" tight ends focus on blocking and are lightly used in the passing game, O'Brien has been aggressive feeding his in-line tight ends targets. Fiedorowicz's primary competition for starting snaps will be sophomore Ryan Griffin. Garrett Graham will play the "F" or "move" tight end role in O'Brien's attack.

Texans signed third-round TE C.J. Fiedorowicz to a four-year, $3.95 million contract that includes a $703,304 signing bonus.

Fiedorowicz was primarily used as an in-line blocker in college but has the athleticism and ball skills to be much more in the NFL. Fiedorowicz will start off behind Ryan Griffin and Garrett Graham on Houston's TE depth chart but could carve out a sizable role in coach Bill O'Brien's tight-end heavy offense.

Texans selected Iowa TE C.J. Fiederowicz with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Fiedorowicz (6-foot-5 1/2, 265) was underutilized in the Hawkeyes' mundane offense, managing 91 career catches for 899 yards (9.9 YPR) and ten touchdowns. He was voted first-team All-Big Ten by the conference's coaches; Fiedorowicz's on-field impact was not lost on opponents. Fiedorowicz ran 4.76 at the Combine with a 9-foot-8 broad jump and 31 1/2-inch vertical, so the athleticism is there for more. He's also an NFL-ready in-line blocker. Still only 22, Fiedorowicz is the kind of prospect who could become a better NFL than college player. He'll join Garrett Graham and Ryan Griffin in Houston. It remains to be seen how the Texans' depth chart will shake out at tight end, but Bill O'Brien clearly plans to make heavy use of "12" personnel packages.
