Texans placed TE C.J. Fiedorowicz on injured reserve with a concussion.
The move comes after Fiedorowicz suffered two concussions in short succession. He was injured late in camp and then again on Sunday. It's a big blow to the Texans' offense, as Fiedorowicz is their primary pass catcher at tight end. The Texans are thin at receiver while Will Fuller (collarbone) is sidelined. Ryan Griffin should absorb most of Fiedorowicz's lost targets, but is missing Week 2 with a concussion of his own, as is third-stringer Stephen Anderson. It's a dire situation in Houston. Texans coach Bill O'Brien said C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is unlikely to play Week 2.

The coach actually said the five players dealing with concussions were unlikely to play, but Fiedorowicz is on that list. With Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson also in the protocol, the Texans have a big hole at tight end. Brian Cushing and Bruce Ellington are the other two on the list.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is done for the day in Week 1.

It puts him in a bad spot ahead of Houston's Week 2 Thursday nighter in Cincinnati. We doubt Fiedorowicz will play. As Ryan Griffin was also concussed on Sunday, Stephen Anderson figures to draw the start next week.
Sep 10 - 3:16 PM

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz has cleared the concussion protocol.

He's practicing fully ahead of Sunday's game with Jacksonville. Fiedorowicz's return cuts into DeAndre Hopkins' red-zone targets.
Sep 6 - 6:01 PM

Texans signed TE C.J. Fiedorowicz to a three-year, $21.5 million extension through 2020.

The deal includes $10 million guaranteed. The No. 65 overall pick of the 2014 draft, Fiedorowicz hung around the fringes of relevance before breaking out for 54/559/4 last season. That was in spite, or perhaps sometimes because of, awful quarterback play. He's a chain-moving pass catcher who offers a 6-foot-5 frame in the red zone. He's a plug-and-play TE2 for fantasy purposes.
Aug 31 - 6:11 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 3-of-5 targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' Divisional Round loss to the Patriots.

Brock Osweiler targeted Fiedorowicz in the end zone late in the first quarter, but the pass was a bit too high and bounced off his fingertips. Fiedorowicz atoned with a second-quarter score on a backfield-misdirection play that froze the Patriots’ linebackers and sprung him wide open. Fiedorowicz dropped an easy third-quarter pass underneath, hearing the footsteps of Patriots LB Elandon Roberts. 25 years old, Fiedorowicz emerged as a valued possession target in the Texans' 2016 offense. He will stay on the late-round tight end radar in 2017 fantasy drafts.
Jan 15 - 12:03 AM

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 2-of-4 targets for 35 yards in the Texans' Wild Card win over the Raiders.

He did all of his work early in this one, with the Texans only completing two passes after halftime as they nursed a multi-score lead. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin have both become involved in an offense that likes to throw to its tight ends. Fiedorowicz will be worth DFS consideration next week.
Jan 7 - 8:52 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 2-of-7 targets for 12 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' Week 17 loss to the Titans.

Fiedorowicz's touchdown was delivered by BFF Brock Osweiler. With Tom Savage battling a concussion, Osweiler could be under center in the Wild Card round, keeping Fiedorowicz on the DFS radar.
Jan 1 - 5:57 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 4-of-7 targets for 42 yards in Week 16 against the Bengals.

Fiedorowicz managed a solid game outside of a wide open second-quarter drop. He looked fully healthy after missing last week with a concussion. Fiedorowicz should see 7-10 targets in Week 17 against Tennessee.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is practicing in full for Week 16.

Fiedorowicz will be back for Week 16. The Bengals have hemorrhaged fantasy points to tight ends all season, but with the Texans changing quarterbacks and Ryan Griffin in the mix, Fiedorowicz will be a mid-range TE2.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday.

Fiedorowicz missed Week 15, but is on track to return against the Bengals. Fiedorowicz was averaging eight targets per game over his previous three outings. He's still a back-end TE1 with Tom Savage under center.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 15 against the Jaguars.

It means Ryan Griffin should take over as the Texans' lead tight end with UDFA Stephen Anderson mixing in behind him. The Jaguars have played excellent coverage against tight ends all year. Still, Griffin is worth a look as a volume-driven punt play in a passing game that has come to revolve around its tight ends.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday.

Brock Osweiler's favorite target is now looking unlikely to suit up against the Jaguars. If Fiedorowicz indeed sits, Ryan Griffin will be a plug-and-play TE2.
Thu, Dec 15, 2016 01:29:00 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.

Fiedorowicz suffered the head injury in the Week 14 win over the Colts. He's likely in the league's protocol. Fiedorowicz has been one of the more reliable tight ends over the past two months. Ryan Griffin would start if he can't go.
Wed, Dec 14, 2016 01:29:00 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz left Week 14 against the Colts with a possible concussion.

He was taken to the locker room late in the fourth quarter. Fiedorowicz had three catches for 32 yards before exiting. His status should be updated early next week.
