Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz has retired after four seasons in the NFL.
Fiedorowicz had said he would attend offseason workouts, but this was always an option after he suffered three concussions last season, two of which sent him to injured reserve. Fiedorowicz broke out for 54 catches, 559 yards, and four scores in 2016, earning a three-year extension prior to last season. He finishes his career with 89 catches for 881 yards and six scores. Texans restructured C.J. Fiedorowicz's contract.

Signed to a three-year extension last year, Fiedorowicz was scheduled to make $5 million in 2018 with even more due the next two seasons, but his concussion issues last season apparently trigged a big pay cut. Fiedorowicz is now scheduled to make $790,000 this season, and the final two years of the deal are gone. Fiedorowicz has side he plans to attend OTAs, but the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson reports he is still considering retirement.

C.J. Fiedorowicz confirmed he plans to attend the offseason workouts.

Multiple concussions the past two years have Fiedorowicz considering retirement, but he's on track to participate in OTAs. Even with him looking likely to return, the Texans can't count on Fiedorowicz staying healthy after missing 11 games last season. Houston is expected to add depth at tight end this offseason.
Mar 3 - 2:30 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussions) admits he is considering retirement.

Fiedorowicz did say he was planning to report to OTAs. Fiedorowicz has suffered four concussions since December 2016. If he can get cleared for 2018, it will be his age-27 season.
Feb 12 - 2:01 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz may be forced to retire after suffering his fourth concussion in the last two seasons.

Fiedorowicz was placed on I.R. last week after suffering his third concussion of the year. To continue his career, the 26-year-old would likely have to pass a team physical, which could be a tall task given his lengthy history of brain injuries. Fiedorowicz agreed to a three-year, $21 million extension with $10 million guaranteed over the summer, though the deal includes a de-escalator that would reduce his base salary to $2.8 million if he were cut due to a pre-existing injury such as a concussion.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he expects C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion, injured reserve) to continue his career.

Fiedorowicz landed on injured reserve after suffering his third concussion of the year in Week 13. O'Brien said he has not talked to Fiedorowicz yet, but he does expect him to return. Fiedorowicz signed a three-year extension which included $10 million guaranteed in August.

Texans placed TE C.J. Fiedorowicz on injured reserve with a concussion, ending his season.

It's the worst possible news after Fiedorowicz just returned from an I.R. stint with a concussion in Week 10. He also suffered a concussion late last season. Now 26, Fiedorowicz will probably have to re-evaluate his NFL future. The 2014 third-rounder signed an extension in August, and is under Texans control through 2020.

C.J. Fiedorowicz left Week 13 with a concussion.

It's a concern after Fiedorowicz went on IR with concussion issues earlier this season. His latest concussion could shut him down for the year.
Sun, Dec 3, 2017 02:16:00 PM

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 4-of-7 targets for 37 yards in the Texans' Week 12 loss to the Ravens.

It's a step forward from recent weeks since his return from IR, but Fiedorowicz remains off the streaming radar with Tom Savage being so inconsistent. Fiedorowicz was the target on Savage's final interception that sealed the loss. The big tight end can be ignored next week against Tennessee.

C.J. Fiedorowicz hauled in both of his targets for 18 yards in the Texans' Week 11 win over the Cardinals.

Fiedorowicz now has just four catches for 28 yards total since returning from injured reserve. Until he proves a bigger part of the offense, he can be left on the waiver wire.

C.J. Fiedorowicz hauled in just 2-of-6 targets for 10 yards in the Texans' Week 10 loss to the Rams.

It was a disappointing return for Fiedorowicz, who spent eight weeks on injured reserve with a concussion. He escaped from the game unscathed, however, and the Texans will need someone to target with Will Fuller dealing with a rib injury. Fiedorowicz will be on the streaming map against the Cardinals next week.

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion, IR) is expected to "play a lot" in Sunday's game with the Rams.

Fiedorowicz is on track to return for the first time since Week 1 after making it through practice without any setbacks. He should regain his role as the No. 1 tight end, but likely won't play every-down snaps. With Tom Savage starting, Fiedorowicz could see a lot of checkdowns.

Texans activated TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) from injured reserve.

Fiedorowicz was concussed in Week 1 and battled a couple concussions last season, so the Texans shut him down for two months. He's expected to play against the Rams and will have streaming appeal down the stretch.
Wed, Nov 8, 2017 09:29:00 AM

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said there's a "good chance" C.J. Fiedorowicz (I.R., concussion) will return against the Rams in Week 10.

He's close to coming back from a concussion that has sidelined him since Week 2. His return will likely come at the expense of Ryan Griffin.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (I.R., concussion) returned to practice on Wednesday.

It's his first practice since suffering a concussion in Week 1. If the Texans designate Fiedorowicz for return, which seems likely, he can be activated in two weeks. Ryan Griffin has been filling in at tight end.
