Coach Sean McDermott said Bills CB E.J. Gaines (shoulder) is expected to play Week 2 against the Panthers.

Gaines suffered a bruised shoulder in the Week 1 win over the Jets. The matchup will be much tougher against bigger-bodied WRs Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess this week. Gaines has been excellent since the trade from L.A.

Bills CB E.J. Gaines is questionable for Week 2 with a shoulder contusion.

Gaines went down late against the Jets. If he's truly only dealing with a bruise, he will probably suit up against the Panthers. Missing Gaines would make an already-daunting matchup for the Bills significantly more difficult.
Sep 11 - 1:17 PM

Bills CB E.J. Gaines suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 against the Jets.

Gaines went down late in the fourth quarter and didn't return. Shareece Wright replaced Gaines opposite Tre'Davious White.
Sep 10 - 3:45 PM

Bills CB E.J. Gaines will start Week 1 against the Jets.

Gaines was behind Buffalo's other corners after coming over in the Sammy Watkins trade, but there's no doubt he's the best option opposite Tre'Davious White. The Bills are counting on a bounce-back from Gaines after a down 2016.
Sep 8 - 7:30 PM

Bills coach Sean McDermott said E.J. Gaines "has the upper hand" at the starting corner spot opposite Tre'Davious White.

Acquired in the Sammy Watkins trade, it would be disappointing if Gaines did not enter Week 1 as a starter. Finally back to full health following a 2015 Lisfranc issue, the Bills are hoping for a bounce-back season.
Sep 4 - 10:16 AM

Bills coach Sean McDermott said "it's not out of the question" CB E.J. Gaines is a Week 1 starter.

Gaines is behind the rest of Buffalo's corners after just arriving last week. It's surprising the Bills don't have a stronger take after trading Sammy Watkins for him and a second-round pick, but Gaines is clearly their top option behind Tre'Davious White. Gaines is competing with Leonard Johnson and Shareece Wright for the right cornerback job.
Aug 18 - 5:35 PM

Bills acquired CB E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round pick from the Rams in exchange for WR Sammy Watkins and a 2018 sixth-round pick.

Gaines, a 2014 sixth-rounder, had a strong rookie season as a 15-game starter, but he missed all of 2015 with a Lisfranc fracture in his foot and didn't look the same last year. Coach Sean McDermott is taking a flier here in the hopes Gaines can rebound. Gaines figures to replace Ronald Darby in Buffalo after he was traded to the Eagles as part of the Jordan Matthews trade on Friday.
Aug 11 - 12:56 PM

Rams CB E.J. Gaines said he is finally back to full health.

Gaines missed all of 2015 with a Lisfranc injury and was hampered by several issues last year. "This is the best I’ve felt since probably my rookie year," Gaines said. The corner had a promising rookie campaign in 2014. If Gaines is back to full health, he will be a boost for a secondary which needs it.
Aug 1 - 12:14 PM

Rams declared CB E.J. Gaines, QB Sean Mannion, CB Steve Williams, S Maurice Alexander, OG Cody Wichmann, OT Pace Murphy, and DE Matt Longacre inactive for Week 15 against the Seahawks.

Gaines' loss will be felt against a Seahawks offense that really hums at home. Just promoted back from the practice squad, CB Troy Hill figures to see heavy snaps.

Rams CB E.J. Gaines (thigh) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Seahawks.

Gaines hasn't been good this season, but it's more fuel for the Russell Wilson fire. The Rams have zero depth at corner, like many other positions. They could be forced to give heavy snaps to Troy Hill, who was just promoted back to the active roster on Tuesday.

Rams CB E.J. Gaines (Lisfranc) expects to be ready for OTAs.

It's good news for the Rams, as Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson are both headed to free agency. At least one of them probably won't be back, meaning Gaines could easily be a starter after making 15 starts as a sixth-round rookie in 2014.

Rams CB E.J. Gaines will miss the 2015 season after undergoing surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his foot.

Diagnoses of Gaines' injury seemed all over the board, with some suggesting he merely had plantar fasciitis, a condition some players can play through depending on their pain tolerance. Instead, Gaines was shown to have a Lisfranc fracture. It's a big blow to the Rams' secondary. Gaines was a steal as a sixth-round pick in last year's draft, bypassing Janoris Jankins as the Rams' most reliable corner. The Rams will lean on Trumaine Johnson and slot corner/free safety Lamarcus Joyner to help patch the void.

Rams CB E.J. Gaines' injury is to his foot, not his knee.

Gaines "wrenched his knee" after getting stepped on Sunday, but his foot took the worst of it. In theory, it's good news, but foot injuries aren't always as straightforward as knee issues. There is some fear Gaines has plantar fasciitis. It remains unclear when Gaines might resume practicing. His absence gives Trumaine Johnson a leg up in the battle to start opposite Janoris Jenkins.

Rams CB E.J. Gaines (knee) will be sidelined "at least" two weeks after getting rolled up in Sunday's practice.

Gaines "wrenched" his knee after getting stepped on. Per reporter Jim Thomas, Gaines is undergoing further testing, and "there is some concern." Gaines is battling Trumaine Johnson to start opposite Janoris Jenkins. His injury gives Johnson a pretty big leg up.
