Coach John Harbaugh said last year's LG James Hurst will open the offseason as the starting right tackle.
That likely means Alex Lewis will head back to left guard after missing all of last season with a torn labrum. Hurst just got paid this month, inking a new four-year deal that includes $8 million guaranteed. He has the ability to play tackle and guard but struggled mightily at tackle early in his career. Ravens re-signed LG James Hurst to a four-year, $17.5 million contract.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal includes $8 million guaranteed, a nice chunk of change for a player who has struggled to be a replacement-level starter. Hurst just turned 26, though, so the Ravens must think he has room to grow. Bringing Hurst back could mean Baltimore plans to move Alex Lewis to right tackle.

The Ravens aren't expected to re-sign free agent LG James Hurst.

Hurst started all 16 games for the first time in his career last season, but he graded out as one of the worst guards in the league. With Alex Lewis and Marshal Yanda returning from injury, Baltimore can move on from him. The Ravens are also expected to let Ryan Jensen test free agency.

James Hurst has taken over as the Ravens' starting left guard.

The Ravens signed Austin Howard to replace Hurst at right tackle, but Hurst is going to stay in the starting lineup following LG Alex Lewis' year-ending shoulder injury. From left to right, Baltimore's offensive line reads LT Ronnie Stanley, LG Hurst, C Ryan Jensen, RG Marshal Yanda, and RT Howard. The Ravens have lost LG Lewis, C Jeremy Zuttah, and RT Rick Wagner from last year's line.

Ravens OT James Hurst worked at right tackle during offseason workouts.

A 2014 UDFA, Hurst was one of PFF's lowest rated tackles over three starts last year. He's the in-house favorite to replace Rick Wagner, but Baltimore could add a veteran before training camp. Ryan Clady, Orlando Franklin, and Austin Pasztor are the top free agents available.

Ravens signed North Carolina OT James Hurst.

Hurst (6-foot-5 1/8, 296) made 48 starts at left tackle for the Heels, earning first-team All-ACC recognition from the conference's coaches as both a junior and senior. He was a second-team pick as a sophomore. Hurst was limited during the pre-draft process after fracturing his left fibula late last December, but is now fully healed. Although a lack of top-notch athleticism may push Hurst to the right side in the pros, he has left-tackle length (33 3/4-inch arms) and is a pro-ready run blocker. Right tackle is a weakness in Baltimore.
