Falcons re-signed K Matt Bryant to a three-year, $8.5 million contract.
Bryant, 39, was set to become a free agent in March. He remained one of the best kickers in the league last year, converting 29-of-32 field-goal attempts (90.6 percent). As he kicks in a dome on an above-average offense, Bryant should maintain fantasy appeal throughout the life of his contract. Feb 25 - 6:02 PM

The Falcons hope to re-sign free agent K Matt Bryant.

The Falcons' kicker since 2009, Bryant converted 29-of-32 field-goal attempts last season (90.6 percent). Even at age 40 (in May), he remains one of the league's best kickers.

Matt Bryant (back) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

It confirms that Bryant will be ready to kick in Week 1 against the Saints. He missed the Falcons' final two preseason games with a back injury, but it was never a major concern.

Matt Bryant (back) will be ready to kick in Sunday's game against the Saints.

Bryant took it easy during the preseason, attempting just two field goals (he made both) and no extra points. He sat out of Monday's practice as well, but the Falcons aren't concerned. Bryant will be a fine fantasy kicking option as a shootout is likely to ensue Sunday. Oddsmakers have set the over/under for Falcons vs. Saints at 54 points, by far the highest total of the week.

Falcons K Matt Bryant's 88.6 conversion rate on field goals since 2009 ranks second in the NFL.

Fantasy owners will struggle to find a better kicking option than Bryant. He operates in a dome, plays for one of the league's premier offenses and is extremely consistent with his accuracy. Bryant has scored at least 126 points in three straight seasons and his 143 points last year ranked third in the league. Only Stephen Gostkowski and Lawrence Tynes scored more.

Matt Bryant has converted 23 consecutive field goal attempts going back to last season.

He's hit on all eight this preseason after drilling 90.3 percent last year. With a high-scoring offense and a dome-field advantage, Bryant is a top-five option this year.

Falcons agreed to terms with K Matt Bryant on a four-year contract.

Bryant is coming off a career year, drilling 28-of-31 (90.3 percent) field goals. He finished as a top-five fantasy kicker and should be among the first handful drafted again this year.

The Falcons made it known before the lockout that they would like to re-sign free agent K Matt Bryant.

Bryant's preference is to return to Atlanta, so the sides have a good chance of reaching a deal after the lockout is lifted. The Falcons did draft Matt Bosher in the sixth round, but he's expected to be used primarily as a punter.

Falcons coach Mike Smith admitted he's somewhat concerned about Matt Bryant's recent struggles.

Bryant missed an extra point last week and a 47-yarder against the Patriots the week before. Despite beating out Steven Hauschka, Bryant remains on a short leash.

The Falcons' release of Steven Hauschka confirms that Matt Bryant has won their starting kicker job.

Bryant has never been very accurate, but will be kicking in a dome and for what projects to be a high-scoring offense. He's worth a look in fantasy.

The Falcons are set to work out University of Guelph K Rob Maver, the fifth overall pick of last weekend's CFL draft.

Guelph, also known as "U of G," is in Ontario. Maver is already negotiating with the Calgary Stampeders, but he'll take his shot at the NFL before he signs. The Falcons had already worked out three kickers in February, so Matt Bryant will have to fend off competition to keep the job.

Falcons worked out CFL kickers Damon Duval, Sandro DeAngelis, and Justin Medlock on Tuesday.

Duval has turned down NFL opportunities in the past, but the Falcons are reportedly set to make him a contract offer. They have holdovers Matt Bryant and Steve Hauschka in the mix as well.

Falcons coach Mike Smith insinuated that Matt Bryant will be his kicker in 2010.

Bryant was picked up by the Falcons in Week 13 and made 7-of-10 field goals. He's under contract through next season, but ex-Raven Steve Hauschka is in the mix as well.

Matt Bryant (hamstring) will kick for the Falcons Sunday.

Atlanta signed Steven Hauschka for insurance this week, but Bryant was able to return to practice Thursday. With Hauschka inactive, Bryant is a relatively safe fantasy play.

Falcons K Matt Bryant (hamstring) returned to a limited practice Thursday.

The Falcons signed Steven Hauschka as insurance, though there's still hope that Bryant will be able to handle kicking duties this week. We'd stay away from this situation in fantasy leagues.
