Tie Domi will officially retire from the game of hockey on Tuesday afternoon.
A long time Leaf fan favorite, Domi leaves the game playing in 1020 regular season contests where he recorded 104 goals, 245 points and an astounding 3515 PIMs. He is ranked third in the history of the NHL for penalty minutes. The enforcer began his career by fighting everyone, but managed to prolong his career by contributing in other areas of the game. He will be missed by his legion of Leaf faithful. We wish him good luck in his next stage of life. Tue, Sep 19, 2006 01:02:00 PM

Tie Domi may retire in the next few weeks.

According to his agent Pat Morris, Domi "is keeping his options open." However, given his advancing age and declining performance, it is looking like the 36-year-old may not be playing in the NHL this year. We shall see.

Tie Domi may retire rather than sign with a new NHL team.

The Leafs bought out the final year of Domi's contract in June. Domi plans to sit down with his agent, Pat Morris, in order to figure out all of his options, including retirement. Even if he does sign, he can only help in the penalty minute category in your fantasy league.

The Maple Leafs bought out the contract of enforcer Tie Domi on Friday.

This comes as no surprise. To avoid paying the 36-year-old Domi the $1.25-million he was due in 2006-2007, Toronto is giving him two-thirds of that salary, $833,000 spread over the next two years, to sever ties. In the new NHL Domi may have a difficult time catching on with another team. However, we wish him luck.

Tie Domi will be bought out of the final year of his contract should the Toronto Maple Leafs not find a trade for him.

Apparently the decision has already been made to buy out Domi, but GM John Ferguson is looking to find a trading partner in order to save taking a hit against the salary cap next season.

Toronto GM John Ferguson insisted he has not made a decision on buying out the contract of winger Tie Domi.

Pat Morris, Domi's agent, told The Fan 590 Wednesday that he has not been tipped off by Ferguson which way the club is leaning. "He remains a Maple Leaf, there is no change," Ferguson said last night, though a decision on Domi's $1.2 million US salary could be made as soon as Thursday.

Reports out of Toronto suggest that the Maple Leafs are willing to buy out the last year of Tie Domi's contract for $1.25 million.

The team is also leaning towards a buy out of Ed Belfour's deal for $1.5 million as it would prefer not to pay the veteran netminder the $4 million on the final year of his contract. Stay tuned.

Tie Domi was a healthy scratch for Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over the Hurricanes.

The Maple Leafs called up Aleksander Suglobov from the Marlies of the AHL, who was acquired from the Devils at the trade deadline for Ken Klee, and the rookie played well in Domi's spot.

Tie Domi scored his first goal in 37 games last night against Ottawa.

Needless to say he was in a scoring slump. He now has 4 goals this season. He also fought Chris Neil in the first period and now has 55 penalty minutes this season.

Tie Domi will be back in the Toronto lineup tonight against the Bruins.

The Maple Leaf tough guy had missed the team's last two games with a shoulder injury. If you need Domi's muscle in your fantasy lineup feel free to activate him.

Tie Domi is doubtful for this evening's game against Ottawa.

He is sill recovering from a shoulder injury and could not practice yesterday. Consider Domi day-to-day.

Tie Domi is questionable for tomorrow night's "Battle of Ontario".

He has a strained shoulder and did not practice yesterday.

Tie Domi got whupped in a fight last night.

With the Leafs trailing 4-0 to Ottawa, Domi and Senators tough guy Brian McGratton went at it with Domi looking the worse for wear. McGratton clocked him with a punch that left Domi's face looking puffier than usual. After going to the dressing room for repairs, Domi came back and finished the game. This bodes well for the Senators who have always done well against the Leafs in the regular season but have been intimidated in all playoff action.

Maple Leafs re-signed Tie Domi to a 2 year/$2.5 million contract.

While the Leafs did not make a big splash with their first free agent signing of the summer, Domi is at least a fan favorite in Toronto. The scrappy winger had 7 goals and 20 points in 2003/04, but registered 208 PIM along the way. Unless your league counts penalty minutes, Domi is not fantasy worthy, but if it does, there are worse players than Domi to fill out your roster.

Despite the fact that Tie Domi bleeds Maple Leaf blue, the winger may be off to join Mario Lemieux in Pittsburgh.

Domi is allegedly being low balled in contract negotiations with Toronto and is not too pleased. The Leafs did extend qualifying offers to Aki Berg, Karel Pilar, Nik Antropov, Wade Belak, Nathan Perrott and signed Chad Kilger to a contract yesterday.
