Jordan Leopold will play his first game for the St. Louis Blues without the benefit of a practice with his teammates.
The good news for Leopold is that he will be playing in his home state of Minnesota for his Blues debut after spending all season in the Eastern Conference with the Sabres. He only had two goals and eight points this season but had three straight seasons of double digit goals so he definitely knows how to score. He will play with Kevin Shattenkirk on the blueline and that will not hurt the offensive side of his game. Apr 1 - 10:40 AM

After acquiring defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Sabres, Blues GM Doug Armstrong spoke about the dearth of quality blueliners available for trade at the moment.

"To us, when you look at the guys from non-playoff teams that are going to be unrestricted, there’s not a lot more guys with experience or the value that Jordan would have," Armstrong said. The Blues certainly struck in advance of the trade deadline in order to pick up a player they felt many teams would covet. Look for Leopold to get minutes on the team's second power play unit in his debut against the Wild Monday.

The fifth round pick tied to Buffalo's trade of Jordan Leopold to St. Louis will become a fourth rounder if the Blues advance past the first round of the playoffs.

Buffalo will also receive a second round pick for Leopold. This trade isn't surprising, given that Leopold is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and Buffalo's chances of making the playoffs are slim. The Sabres might also deal defenseman Robyn Regehr before the deadline.
Mar 30 - 5:05 PM

The Buffalo Sabres have traded Jordan Leopold to the St. Louis Blues for a second round pick and a conditional fifth round selection.

Both draft picks are for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Leopold is a versatile blueliner that's capable of eating minutes with the St. Louis Blues. He has some offensive upside, but the presence of Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk will limit Leopold's playing time with the man advantage. Consequently, we're not particularly excited about this trade from a fantasy perspective.
Mar 30 - 4:05 PM

Jordan Leopold stands a very good chance of being dealt before Wednesday's trading deadline.

Leopold is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, the Sabres are going to be sellers and he is likely not going to fit into the team's plans going forward. Sounds like the veteran defenseman will be moving on for a draft pick.
Mar 30 - 9:58 AM

Jordan Leopold scored Buffalo's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay Tuesday night.

His second tally of the season was assisted by Marcus Foligno and Brian Flynn. Foligno also picked up a fighting major in the contest when he took on Lightning defender Keith Aulie.
Mar 26 - 11:06 PM

Jordan Leopold was a late scratch after participating in Sunday's pre-game warmup.

He was expected to return to the lineup after missing eight games with an upper-body injury, but Andrej Sekera played instead.
Mar 11 - 9:41 AM

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jordan Leopold has been activated from the injured reserve.

In exchange, the team sends blueliner Adam Pardy down to the minors. Leopold was dealing with an upper-body injury.
Mar 10 - 7:03 PM

Jordan Leopold (hand) remains doubtful for Sunday's contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Leopold has missed the past seven games with an upper body injury but seems on the verrge of re-joining the Sabres' lineup.
Mar 10 - 10:38 AM

Jordan Leopold is hopeful he can return to action Sunday against Phildelphia.

He has been out of action since February 17th with an upper body injury but seems on the verrge of re-joining the Sabres' lineup. If for some reason you need Leopold, get ready to activate him.
Mar 9 - 8:21 AM

There's no timetable for Jordan Leopold's return from an upper-body injury, but he is making progress.

"It's just not quite there," Leopold said Wednesday. "Getting close and making progress every day. The good thing is I haven't taken any steps backward." He hasn't played since Feb. 17.
Mar 6 - 4:34 PM

Jordan Leopold (upper body) did some off-ice work Monday.

The Sabres didn't hold a practice session Monday. Leopold is expected to sit his seventh game with an upper-body injury Tuesday, but interim coach Ron Rolston said the defenseman is making some progress. "Leo, he's feeling better," Rolston said. "He's making good strides, but he still will probably be a little bit longer."
Mar 5 - 8:03 AM

Jordan Leopold (upper body) was placed on the injured list Friday to make room for Brian Flynn.

This was really a paper move to create a roster spot for Flynn as Leopold seems to be progressing from an upper-body injury. That said, we wouldn't count on Leopold playing this weekend.
Mar 2 - 9:39 AM

Jordan Leopold (upper body) joined the Buffalo Sabres at the end of practice Tuesday but was not wearing any pads.

Leopold skated in a ball cap and a warm-up suit, meaning he's likely no closer to returning. Leopold has had a lot of struggles this season and remains out indefinitely. He's not worth owning in almost all formats.
Feb 26 - 12:38 PM

Jordan Leopold (upper body) missed his second consecutive game Saturday night.

Leopold has struggled mightily this season and has no fantasy value.
