Josef Vasicek reached double digits for goals scored this season by tallying his tenth of the season.

Vasicek is having a good season, but he won't ever be a game-breaking player. He probably isn't consistent enough to warrant a pick up at this point in the season.

Josef Vasicek was promoted to the top power-play unit on Long Island.

Vasicek leads the Islanders with nine goals thus far, and has entrenched himself as the second-line center. Coach Ted Nolan put the 6'5" power forward with the man-advantage against Atlanta. He parked himself in front of the net and provided a screen on Trent Hunter's shot that found the back of the net. Look for Nolan to play the big center more on the power-play. His fantasy value continues to rise.

Josef Vasicek is leading the NHL in shooting percentage.

Vasicek has scored on 36.8% of his shots, leading the Islanders in goals with seven. Now if he only had more than 19 shots in 16 games, the Islanders and fantasy owners would be really happy.

Vasicek played 16 minutes, blocked three shots, and received ice time both on the penalty kill and the power play. He is not worth picking up at this time.

The Carolina Hurricanes have reacquired Josef Vasicek from the Nashville Predators.

Vasicek was a member of the Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes last season before being traded on July 18 for Scott Walker. Vasicek only had four goals and 13 points in 38 games for the Preds and he was a healthy scratch on Thursday. Hopefully the return to Carolina will provide a boost for Vasicek as he had been a disappointment in Nashville. Eric Belanger goes the other way.
