Dany Heatley didn't do much in his Ducks debut Tuesday night.
Heatley missed Anaheim's first nine games due to a groin injury. He had just one shot on goal in 13:26 minutes of ice time. He might just need some time to shake off the rust, but given how unproductive he was in 2013-14, he might not get much better. Still, he's worth monitoring for now. Oct 29 - 8:06 AM

Dany Heatley (groin) said he would make his Ducks' debut on Tuesday.

Heatley missed Anaheim's first nine games due to his groin injury. It looks like the Ducks are sticking with their original plan of having Heatley play on a line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, so he'll be worth keeping an eye on.

Dany Heatley (groin) skated at practice Monday.

He played with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry during the session. Heatley's regular season debut with the Ducks has been on hold because of a groin injury.
Oct 27 - 5:16 PM

Although Dany Heatley (groin) has started to practice regularly with Anaheim, it's not clear when he'll return.

"It's progressing," Heatley said. "Probably a little slower than I'd like. But it keeps taking steps forward. Today was a really good day. Got a little more contact. A little more work in the corners. I'm feeling better." Heatley had just 12 goals and 16 assists in 76 games last season. That being said, he's worth keeping an eye on when he returns because he might get a shot on Anaheim's top line.
Oct 24 - 9:58 AM

Dany Heatley (groin) resumed practicing with the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

"It felt good being out there with the guys," Heatley said. "I feel good. It's progressing really well. First, you skate by yourself, and then you get in some practices. Hopefully it keeps going the right way and I can get back soon." Heatley has missed the Ducks' first six games of 2014-15. He'll be worth keeping an eye on when he's back as he might play on Anaheim's top line.
Oct 21 - 8:17 AM

Despite skating on his own for the last week, Dany Heatley has not practiced since his groin injury on September 28.

It's been almost three weeks and Heatley, who was penciled in to play on the first line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, was not happy that he could not play Friday against his ex-Minnesota squad. "I felt really good in the preseason," Heatley said. "I thought I had a good camp. It was frustrating to start this way. I'm getting good time in the gym and on the ice. Hopefully when I'm ready, I'll be really sharp." Stay tuned and take him off the waiver wire if he is available as there will not be too many opportunities to grab a first line player the rest of the way. There is no timetable for his return so if you do get him, stash him away.
Oct 18 - 4:34 AM

Dany Heatley (groin) has been skating all week, but there's still no timetable for his return.

All he would say is: "Hopefully it's sooner rather than later." Heatley hasn't been able to make his Anaheim debut in the regular season because of a groin injury.
Oct 17 - 3:44 PM

Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau said that it is unrealistic to expect Dany Heatley to suit up in the team's home opener on Friday.

Heatley was injured in a preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings on September 28th. The 33-year-old will try to have a bounce-back season in 2014-15. He registered 12 goals and 28 points in 76 games last season.
Oct 12 - 6:42 PM

Dany Heatley (groin) is on the injured reserve list.

Heatley was already expected to miss the start of the season, so this doesn't come as a surprise. He was penciled in to play alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry this season, but the longer he remains on the sidelines, the more likely it is that another player will establish themselves in that role.
Oct 8 - 8:16 AM

Forward Dany Heatley will miss the start of the Anaheim Ducks' regular season because of a groin injury.

Heatley hasn't skated for his new team since Sept. 28. He signed with Anaheim in the summer after a 12-season NHL career with four other teams.
Oct 7 - 9:52 PM

Dany Heatley (groin) did not skate on Friday and his status for Thursday's opener in Pittsburgh is up in the air.

Heatley suffered the injury on Sunday. He was slated to start the season on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry but that spot could go to Patrick Maroon if Heatley can't play. Coach Bruce Boudreau is hopeful that Heatley is able to play at some point during the Ducks four game road trip to kick off the NHL season. Heatley had only 12 goals and 28 points for the Wild last season but playing on the top line makes Heatley a 40-plus point candidate and possibly a lot more if he stays there.
Oct 4 - 4:59 AM

Dany Heatley's previously undisclosed injury is a groin problem.

Heatley will be out for at least a week. If that's the extent of his absence, then he'll still be available for the start of the regular season.
Sep 29 - 3:11 PM

Dany Heatley suffered an undisclosed injury against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night.

Heatley left the game after the second period and never came out to play in the third. Ducks' coach Bruce Boudreau wouldn't specify the type of injury Heatley suffered, but did mention post-game that "he's fine".
Sep 28 - 11:10 PM

Dany Heatley's prime may be in the past, but those wrists are always locked and loaded.

Heater made it 2-0 Ducks just 6:47 into the second after a William Karlsson shot was blocked and popped out to him at the dot. He wasted no time zipping it past Martin Jones. He played just over 12 minutes and was not a factor otherwise.
Sep 26 - 2:54 AM

Dany Heatley scored a goal for the Ducks Monday night in a 4-0 split-squad win over Colorado in preseason action.

These two teams engaged in two contests on the night with split squads appearing at different locations. The goal was Heatley's first in an Anaheim uniform while Brendan Bell, Ben Lovejoy and Rickard Rakell also scored in the shutout victory. Goaltender Frederik Andersen was perfect as he blocked all 27 shots he faced for the clean sheet.
