Dany Heatley was dealt to the Florida Panthers along with a third-round pick in exchange for Tomas Fleischmann on Saturday.
It's unclear if the fallen star will get much of a look at the NHL level, as things haven't even gone particularly well for Heatley in the AHL. If nothing else, the Panthers have added some interesting aging names in Heatley and Jaromir Jagr so far this week. Feb 28 - 2:41 PM

Dany Heatley's struggles have continued in the AHL.

Heatley has only two goals and an assist in 12 games for Norfolk of the AHL and he was a minus-two on Friday to give him a minus-six rating. He was sent to the minors on December 30 after playing only five games with nary a point for the Ducks this season. His NHL career may be over.

Dany Heatley has been asked to report to AHL Norfolk.

That was expected after Heatley went unclaimed on waivers, but now we have confirmation. The Ducks might end up trading Heatley before the deadline, but even if they do the chances of Heatley having any fantasy value this season are slim.

Dany Heatley went unclaimed on waivers.

Although the Ducks might still end up trading Heatley, it does illustrate how far he's fallen. There was a time not that long ago when teams would have jumped at the opportunity to claim Heatley, but his stock has plummeted in recent years. He's 33 years old, so a comeback still isn't out of the question, but we wouldn't count on that happening.

Dany Heatley has been placed on waivers by Anaheim.

Heatley was originally projected to play on the Ducks' first line, but it didn't play out that way. His persistent groin injury certainly played a role in that, but we aren't confident it would have worked out anyways. Heatley enjoyed back-to-back 50-goal seasons and he's still just 33, but he has fallen hard over the last few years and this looks like the natural next chapter in his descent. Even still, it wouldn't be shocking if a team desperate for scoring took a chance on Heatley.

Dany Heatley will be back in the lineup for the Ducks Saturday night against the Coyotes.

With Corey Perry now sidelined, Heatley will be back in the Ducks lineup. He'll line up on the wing with Andrew Cogliano and Nate Thompson. Heatley has played in just five games this season and has yet to register a point. He is no longer the fantasy mainstay he was years ago.

Dany Heatley is expected to be scratched Monday night against the San Jose Sharks.

The former 50 goal scorer has played in just one game since November 9th and has played in a total of five games on the season without recording a single point. It's been a hard fall for the former superstar as he's been in out of the lineup all year with injuries and healthy scratches. Devante Smith-Pelly will instead take Heatley's spot in the lineup Monday.

Dany Heatley played on Friday for the first time since November 9.

Heatley was out with a groin injury and had a conditioning stint in the AHL last week. Heatley was held pointless and has yet to hit the scoresheet in five games this season. "Kind of better as it went on," Heatley said. "A little rusty at the start. Played a little bit more as the game went on and I started to feel better." Devante Smith-Pelly sat so Heatley could get in the lineup.

Dany Heatley will play in Ottawa on Friday night.

It appears that Heatley's back in game-shape. He has a goal and five assists in the five games against his former Senators team since being traded away. Though he has no points over four games, six shots, and 47 minutes on ice thus far this season.

Dany Heatley is not in Anaheim's lineup on Thursday night against Montreal.

Bruce Boudreau mentioned that Heatley could play if the Ducks needed him, but he is not back in the lineup. The 33-year-old has been limited to four games because of a groin injury. Mark Fistric is also scratched for the Ducks.

Dany Heatley (groin) hasn't been activated from the injured reserve list yet.

That needed to be clarified because Heatley completed his conditioning stint on Monday and usually that leads to the player in question being put on the team's active roster. The decision not to activate him yet might not have a ton to do with Heatley's health though. The Ducks are clicking right now, so there might not be a spot for him on their roster at the moment.

Dany Heatley has rejoined the Ducks after an AHL conditioning stint.

Prior to the conditioning stint, Heatley hadn't played since Nov. 9 due to a groin injury. It will be interesting to see how Heatley fits into the lineup. He was projected to serve on the Ducks' top line before the season began, but we don't expect him to serve in that role now that he's healthy.

Dany Heatley played his second minor league game in his career and was a minus-two in a 4-3 win.

Heatley has been plagued by a groin injury all season and the Ducks wanted him to get in a couple of conditioning games before he saw some NHL action. He was slated to play on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry when the season began, but that may not be in the cards once Perry returns from a knee injury. We cannot recommend Heatley at this time.

Dany Heatley played in his first minor league game of his professional career on Friday.

Heatley had a couple of shots on goal as he was sent to Norfolk of the AHL on a conditioning stint as he is recovering from a groin injury. Heatley is a former 50 goal scorer in the NHL but the Ducks would be happy if he hit double digits this season in the show.

Dany Heatley's AHL conditioning stint could be brief.

The current plan is for Heatley to play with Norfolk on Friday and Saturday. After that, he'll rejoin the Ducks. Before the season began, Heatley was projected to serve on the Ducks' first line, but we wouldn't count on him serving in that capacity once he's able to return.
