Jason LaBarbera made 37 saves in the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

LaBarbera faced 41 shots and made a good effort to keep the Coyotes in the game but the offense was nowhere to be found. He's a half-decent backup goalie but he isn't someone that should garner much fantasy attention.

Jason LaBarbera is dealing with an infected lymph node.

Phoenix's back-up netminder woke up Friday night and couldn't swallow, and his neck is also swollen. "I’ve never had that before," LaBarbera said. "It was kind of a weird thing. It was a little freaky at first."
Apr 6 - 7:37 PM

Jason LaBarbera was on fire on Tuesday night, turning aside 39 of 40 shots in Phoenix’s 3-1 victory over Los Angeles.

The win is just LaBarbera’s second since taking over for the injured Mike Smith in mid-March. He’s been fairly shaky in this period, but he was absolutely dominant in this contest. There’s no word yet on whether Smith will return for the Coyotes’ next game on Thursday against Detroit. Stay tuned for updates.
Apr 3 - 12:45 AM

Jason LaBarbera will start in Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Mike Smith is still out with an upper body injury. LaBarbera has a 2.64 GAA and .918 save percentage in 12 games this season.
Apr 1 - 4:45 PM

Jason LaBarbera picked up a tough loss Saturday night despite making 32 saves on 34 shots through regulation and overtime, then stopping two of three in the shootout.

His counterpart Anti Niemi stopped all three Coyotes shooters in the extra frame, ultimately being the reason LaBarbera’s fine start ended in his seventh loss in nine games this season. It’s hard to see him as a fantasy asset considering the way the Coyotes are slumping right now.
Mar 31 - 5:29 AM

Jason LaBarbera will start in Saturday's game.

LaBarbera has allowed three or more goals in each of his last three starts. With Mike Smith nursing an upper body injury, LaBarbera is the Coyotes' de facto number one goaltender.
Mar 30 - 1:22 PM

Jason LaBarbera allowed four goals on 38 shots Thursday, but earned a comfortable win in a 7-4 decision over the Predators.

LaBarbera hasn't been great in place of the injured Mike Smith, despite the fact he earned a victory in this game. The win raises his record to 2-5-1.
Mar 28 - 11:07 PM

Jason LaBarbera suffered a loss in the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-3 OT loss to the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.

The Coyotes' No. 2 is now 1-5-1 this season. While Mike Smith hasn't been perfect during Phoenix's losing streak so far, the team clearly needs all the help they can get. LaBarbera just isn't getting it done.
Mar 28 - 12:07 AM

Jason LaBarbera allowed three goals on 35 shots in the Coyotes 3-2 loss to the Detroit Redwings.

LaBarbera had a solid game, and will require many more of those if the Coyotes have any chance while starter is Mike Smith heals his upper body injury. The Coyotes don't provide much offensive support, combined with being a career back-up, this makes for a rather poor goalie option in fantasy leagues. Only reach for him if you're desperate for starts.
Mar 26 - 2:02 AM

Jason LaBarbera will get the nod for Phoenix Monday against the visiting Detroit Red Wings.

It will mark his first since since March 6 and just his fourth start of the lockout-shortened season. LaBarbera is getting the nod because Mike Smith is out with an upper-body injury.
Mar 25 - 4:10 PM

Jason LaBarbera came in on relief for the Coyotes in the third period Thursday and made 14 saves in the team's 2-1 loss to the Canucks.

Mike Smith, who made 16 saves, left after the second period with an undisclosed injury. Even though LaBarbera didn't have to enter in the middle of a period, completely cold, it's still not easy coming off the bench like this, especially in a game where Phoenix was down one. The Coyotes don't play again until Monday, so this could be tough to read until closer to that time.
Mar 22 - 1:05 AM

Jason LaBarbera allowed one goal as the Phoenix Coyotes lost to the Anaheim Ducks 2-0 on Wednesday.

LaBarbera stopped 22 out of 23 shots in a rare appearance. He's 1-3-0 in six appearances, although his individual numbers are quite solid (.920 save percentage and 2.23 GAA). Regardless, he won't see many starts behind Mike Smith this season, barring injuries.
Mar 7 - 1:37 AM

Jason LaBarbera looks like he'll get his first start since Jan. 26 Wednesday night.

"The hard part is trying to keep your emotions in check the whole day and not wear yourself out because you are excited and you are anxious and you just want to go out there and play," he said. "But I've felt good in practice the past month. It's just a matter of going out there and doing what you're supposed to do." LaBarbera was the first goalie off the ice in the morning and the Coyotes host St. Louis Thursday, so it would make sense to give Mike Smith the night off.

Mar 6 - 6:12 PM

Jason LaBarbera yielded four goals in the Coyotes' 4-2 loss to the Kings on Saturday night.

Mike Smith is still out with a lower-body injury, so LaBarbera got his second straight start and allowed four goals in his second straight game. He made 27 saves against the Kings. Phoenix is 1-4-0 this season and could really see its season spiral out of control if Smith is sidelined long-term.
