It's looking like Frederik Andersen and John Gibson will share the net in Anaheim this season.
While it was thought that Gibson could be sent to the minors to start the season to get a lot of playing time, leaving Jason LaBarbera as the backup, that may not be the case. The good news for the Ducks is that LaBarbera would likely pass through waivers when teams get down to the 23 man rosters in a week and they could send him to the minors. Stay tuned. Jason LaBarbera has agreed to a one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Right now it looks like Frederik Andersen and John Gibson will start the season as the Ducks' goaltenders, but LaBarbera might be able to earn a spot out of training camp. Of course, we wouldn't rule out the possibility of Anaheim getting a more established NHL goaltender before the summer's over.
Jul 1 - 6:47 PM

Jason LaBarbera has been assigned to the minors.

He didn't see any game action with the Blackhawks after he was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers. Chicago has decided to keep Antti Raanta as their backup keeper, so LaBarbera will help out the organization's minor-league club.
Jan 4 - 12:02 PM

Jason LaBarbera is still with the Chicago Blackhawks as a bit of insurance.

Corey Crawford will start Thursday night in his first game in nearly a month. If everything goes well then the Blackhawks will have to decide who to send down between LaBarbera and Antti Raanta.
Jan 2 - 10:59 AM

Jason LaBarbera has been called up by Chicago.

He will serve as Antti Raanta's backup while Chicago waits for Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin recover from injuries. LaBarbera was acquired from Edmonton nearly a week ago to give the Hawks some extra experience between the pipes.

Chicago has acquired Jason LaBarbera from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for future considerations.

The Blackhawks have assigned LaBarbera to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs for now, but he could end up serving as Antti Raanta's backup. In seven appearances with Edmonton this year, he posted a 1-3-0 record with a 3.28 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage.

Goalie Jason LaBarbera, who was recalled recently by Edmonton Oilers, likely will be sent back soon to Oklahoma City of the AHL.

The Oilers are preparing for the return of goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, who has been injured, which makes LaBarbera expendable.

Jason LaBarbera has been recalled by Edmonton.

The Oilers are still waiting to find out how long Ilya Bryzgalov will be sidelined for, but LaBarbera will join the team prior to Tuesday's match-up versus Phoenix. He will serve as Devan Dubnyk's backup while Bryzgalov is out.

Jason LaBarbera has been waived by the Edmonton Oilers.

He will head down to the minors if he clears. Edmonton made the move to free up a roster spot for incoming netminder Ilya Bryzgalov. LaBarbera has a 1-3-0 record with an .858 save percentage and a 3.69 GAA in six appearances with the Oilers this year.

Jason LaBarbera allowed five goals on 27 shots in a 5-4 loss to Phoenix in a matinee contest Saturday.

Devan Dubnyk briefly entered the game in the second period, but LaBarbera went back into the crease after Dubynk saw a mere 39 seconds of action. The Coyotes capitalized on two third-period, power-play goals to erase Edmonton's lead and steal the victory after squandering a 3-1 advantage. With Dubnyk struggling, LaBarbera hasn't been able to seize the opportunity.

Jason LaBarbera, who left the Arizona desert for Edmonton in the off-season, will likely start against the Phoenix Coyotes this afternoon.

The Oilers are last in the Western Conference with a record of 3-7-1 and back-to-back road games looming. They'll take on the Kings in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Jason LaBarbera couldn’t help the struggling Oilers Tuesday night as he suffered his second straight defeat, a 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jason LaBarbera will start again Tuesday night for Edmonton.

He was in the Oilers' crease in Monday's 4-2 loss to Washington and now he'll face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Devan Dubnyk has struggled mightily this campaign and he'll have to wait at least another game to get his next start.
Tue, Oct 15, 2013 06:45:00 PM

Jason LaBarbera allowed four goals on 20 shots Monday as the Oilers dropped a 4-2 decision in Washington.

A switch from Devan Dubnyk to LaBarbera doesn't seem to have helped matters for the struggling Oilers, who continued to display poor defensive coverage in this contest. Look for Dubnyk to be back in goal for Edmonton's next game.
