Michael Ryder will be a healthy scratch Wednesday when the Devils take on the Maple Leafs.
Ryder will take a seat and watch from the press box Wednesday night. He's played in 42 of the teams first 47 games and has just six goals to show for. That's not much production from a guy the Devils expected to be one of the team's leading goal scorers. He has a total of 18 points and is a minus two rating. Steve Bernier will take his spot on the wing. Jan 28 - 7:25 PM

Michael Ryder had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 victory over Los Angeles.

Ryder has six goals and 18 points in 40 games this season. There was some hope that he would bounce back after recording just 34 points in 2013-14, but at this point we don't expect him to do substantially better this season.
Jan 15 - 9:32 AM

Michael Ryder scored for the first time since November 6 on Friday.

Ryder was activated off the injured reserve list Friday as he had come down with the mumps. He had gone 21 games without a goal and now has five goals and 15 points in 35 games. "It felt good. Maybe the little break I had (back home in Newfoundland with the mumps) was good to refresh the battery and clear the head," Ryder said. "But we still lost the game, which was disappointing. We have to find ways to win now and get back into the thick of the playoff (race). We definitely need to do it soon."
Jan 3 - 8:38 AM

Michael Ryder (mumps) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.

Ryder said Friday morning that his hope was to get into the Devils' game against Montreal Friday night and now it looks like he'll get that opportunity. He missed three straight contests due to the disease.
Jan 2 - 5:43 PM

Michael Ryder (mumps) isn't sure if he'll play on Friday, but he hopes to.

Ryder doesn't have a fever anymore, but he's still experiencing some swelling in his jaw. He has four goals and 14 points in 34 contests in 2014-15.
Jan 2 - 11:27 AM

Michael Ryder (mumps) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

That corresponds with the Devils calling up Joe Whitney and Stefan Matteau. Ryder hasn't played since Dec. 23, so this move is presumable retroactive to that date.

Michael Ryder has been diagnosed with the mumps.

Ryder becomes the 21st NHLer this season to get the mumps. He has only four goals and 14 points in 33 games this season so this illness should not affect your fantasy team.

Michael Ryder is averaging just 14:30 minutes per game.

"When you only play 14, 12, 10 minutes a night, it's hard to produce," Ryder remarked. "Guys that score 25 goals in the league, just look at all their ice times. It's a big difference." It's certainly been hard for Ryder to produce under these conditions as he just has four goals and 14 points in 33 games this season. He's also working through an eight-game point drought. The holiday break offers him an opportunity to take a step back and regroup.

Michael Ryder, Adam Larsson, and Jacob Josefson were all scratched Saturday against the Capitals.

The most surprising, and the most disappointing, is Ryder as he has no goals and just four points since his two-goal effort on November 6th, a 20 game span. He has gone pointless in his last eight.

Michael Ryder is mired in a 17 game goal scoring slump.

The center has been a healthy scratch during this stretch as the Devils are trying everything to get him going. He managed a couple of assists in his first game back from the benching but is pointless in his last five. Ryder has four goals and 14 points in 30 games and has little fantasy value at this time.

Michael Ryder will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

It looks like Ryder will be making room for Adam Henrique's (upper body) return and Scott Gomez, who signed with the Devils on Monday. "Yeah, I'm angry. Of course I'm angry," Ryder said. "You want to play. Especially when I think I can help the team. If the coach doesn't feel you can help the team, it's his decision." Ryder has four goals and 12 points in 24 games this season.

Michael Ryder lit the lamp twice on Thursday night but it was not enough for the Devils as the fell 4-3 to the St. Louis Blues to drop both instalments of the home-and-home.

Ryder has four goals and nine points in 13 games, not a bad output so far for the 34-year-old who put up just 34 points in 82 games last season.

Michael Ryder could have a big season this year as he got his old skates back.

Ryder had a tough 2013-14 campaign as he battled back problems and couldn't find the right skates as the company stopped making his favorite blades. So Ryder went back to his hometown and pulled some old skates out of his parents shed and asked the manufacturer to make them again. They did and he is much more comfortable this season. "For a year and a half they stopped making my skates. I had them my first year in Dallas but after that they stopped making them," Ryder said. "So this year we sent a pair of skates off to Bauer and they made them the way my old skates were.It actually makes a big difference, the way I turn and stuff like that. I’m so used to old school skates. And they just stopped making them." Ryder had a goal and two helpers on Thursday so let's just say the skates work.

Michael Ryder got his 2014-15 season off to a solid start with three points in Philadelphia, Thursday night.

Thing is, the only point he should've gotten was his goal. He opened the scoring midway through the first after taking a drop pass from Ryane Clowe and shooting low cross-ice. It was a pretty snipe from atop the circles. His two assists shouldn't have been awarded, however. Lecavalier coughed the puck up to Ryder who literally tapped it Adam Henrique for a weak goal. Ryder barely influenced the play. Similarly, he made a nice outlet pass Henrique who played patty-cake with Dainius Zubrus from the neutral zone in to put the Devils up for good. But that's just how liberal official NHL scorers can be sometimes.

Michael Ryder registered a goal and two assists for the Devils in Monday's 5-4 preseason win over the New York Rangers.

Ryder has been vocal about the fact he was disappointed in his 2013-14 performance and seems to be making amends already. Adam Henrique, Reid Boucher and Eric Gelinas also found the back of the net for New Jersey in the win while Keith Kinkaid and Scott Clemmensen split goaltending duties.
