Nick Schultz will miss Tuesday's game due to an upper-body injury.

Schultz has 10 assists in 46 games this season. Carlo Colaiacovo was also hurt on Monday and might miss Tuesday's contest as a result. If Colaiacovo can't play, then Philadelphia only has four healthy blueliners on its active roster. Naturally, you can count on the Flyers calling up defensemen as a result and one of them is likely to be Brandon Manning.

Nick Schultz had two assists and Jakub Voracek scored the overtime winner as the Flyers edged the Capitals 3-2 in overtime to snap a five game losing streak.

"I don't think I've ever had two assists in a game," joked Shultz at the end of the night. "It's nice to get the two points and hopefully we can build on it," he said. As a matter of fact, Schultz has managed to compile two assists in a game four times in his 13-year career, the last multi-point game coming on Nov. 19, 2010. The 32-year-old has eight assists in 39 games.

Nick Schultz is hoping to sign a contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Schultz is playing out a one-year, $1.25 million contract. He has eight assists and a plus-eight rating while averaging 19:05 minutes per contest over 36 games this season. "I'd love to stay here," Schultz said. "It's been good. I enjoy the group here, the guys on the team; the organization has been great. I think the biggest thing is my family enjoys it. That's a big thing now, when you've got kids. It isn't easy moving them around and stuff. It would be nice to stick to one spot." The Flyers have interest in keeping him too and the two sides are expected to begin negotiating in the next few days.

Newly-acquired Nick Schultz is likely to start the season as Philadelphia's seventh defenseman.

The medical situation befalling Kimmo Timonen looked like it may force Schultz into a more prominent role with his new club, but the quick addition of Michael Del Zotto likely pushes the former Oiler back down to the seventh position. Regardless of his NHL abilities, Schultz offers very little in the way of fantasy value.

Nick Schultz has agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Schultz had five assists in 69 games with Edmonton and Columbus in 2013-14. We can't see him getting much playing time in Philadelphia and his fantasy value in standard leagues is non-existent.

Nick Schultz will make his second appearance of the 2014 playoffs on Monday in Game 6.

He logged just 10:33 of ice time in Game 4's 4-3 overtime win. Schultz will be paired with James Wisniewski.

Nick Schultz and Matt Frattin were healthy scratches on Saturday.

Just an FYI as both players have no fantasy value.

Nick Schultz has been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The former Oiler will be a solid defensive defenseman for the Blue Jackets but not much of a fantasy choice. The Oilers will receive a fifth round pick from the Blue Jackets. He had four assists in 60 games with a minus-11 rating with Edmonton this season.

Defenseman Nick Schultz would like to stay with the Edmonton Oilers but wouldn't be at all surprised if they trade him before the NHL's trade deadline on Wednesday.

Schultz can head to the market as an unrestricted free agent after this season, so he is aware that much could change by Wednesday afternoon. There have been no talks about an extension with the Oilers, although Schultz said he would certainly entertain a discussion. "You definitely have it in the back of your mind that this might be it. You hope it’s not because you want to be a part of this, you can see there’s a chance here to have a good team," Schultz said. Schultz doesn't have much fantasy value. He has four assists in 58 games this season.

After being a healthy scratch for the second time in 2013-14 on Saturday, Nick Schultz is returning to the Edmonton Oilers lineup on Sunday.

Schultz isn't the only person getting back into action as the Oilers face the Los Angeles Kings tonight. Anton Lander is also replacing Tyler Pitlick on a line with Ryan Jones and Boyd Gordon.

Nick Schultz was a healthy scratch for the second time this season on Saturday.

He was replaced in the lineup by Denis Grebeshkov. Just an FYI as Schultz has no fantasy value in traditional pools.

Nick Schultz was booed by the crowd in Anaheim on Monday.

The boos were meant for his teammate Justin Schultz who refused to sign with the Ducks last season and became an unrestricted free agent, eventually signing with the Oilers. Some fans in Anaheim could not distinguish between the two and hence Nick was booed but eventually the crowd got it right and booed Justin every time he touched the puck. He scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss. Maybe the boos were good for him.

Nick Schultz scored his first goal of the season in the Oilers 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

While Justin Schultz is an offensive gem, Nick is a rugged defensive defenseman who doesn't offer much in the oppositions zone. Look elsewhere for blueline help.

Nick Schultz thinks Oilers coach Ralph Krueger is getting through to the team.

"They’re still showing things after games where we need to be better," Schultz said. "Guys are starting to buy into that and realize that the good teams we come up against, like Chicago and other teams that are playing well and having success, they stick to their game plan, stick to their system. If it means being back in a certain spot, even though you’re an offensive guy, you've got to do it. That’s how you generate chances and win games, and ultimately, that’s what you want." Edmonton isn't short on talent, but it might take some time before their young core can help transform the Oilers into a genuine Stanley Cup contender. In the meantime, the Oilers still have a shot to make the playoffs in 2013.
