Nick Schultz was booed by the crowd in Anaheim on Monday.
The boos were meant for his teammate Justin Schultz who refused to sign with the Ducks last season and became an unrestricted free agent, eventually signing with the Oilers. Some fans in Anaheim could not distinguish between the two and hence Nick was booed but eventually the crowd got it right and booed Justin every time he touched the puck. He scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss. Maybe the boos were good for him. Apr 9 - 9:45 AM

Nick Schultz scored his first goal of the season in the Oilers 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

While Justin Schultz is an offensive gem, Nick is a rugged defensive defenseman who doesn't offer much in the oppositions zone. Look elsewhere for blueline help.

Nick Schultz thinks Oilers coach Ralph Krueger is getting through to the team.

"They’re still showing things after games where we need to be better," Schultz said. "Guys are starting to buy into that and realize that the good teams we come up against, like Chicago and other teams that are playing well and having success, they stick to their game plan, stick to their system. If it means being back in a certain spot, even though you’re an offensive guy, you've got to do it. That’s how you generate chances and win games, and ultimately, that’s what you want." Edmonton isn't short on talent, but it might take some time before their young core can help transform the Oilers into a genuine Stanley Cup contender. In the meantime, the Oilers still have a shot to make the playoffs in 2013.

Nick Schultz is a possible candidate to be paired with AHL super rookie Justin Schultz when NHL play resumes.

He could serve as the defensive conscious of the Schultz tandem and help give Justin an easier time in his own zone with his mobility and veteran savvy. Coach Ralph Krueger will probably keep his shutdown pair of Ladislav Smid and Jeff Petry together and that would leave Ryan Whitney to skate alongside Corey Potter.

Nick Schultz is "a little bit optimistic" that the Alberta Labour Relations Board will rule in the NHLPA's favor.

The NHLPA is trying to block the lockout in Alberta. In the province, a mediator must be appointed and given 14 days to work with both sides before a lockout vote can be held. The NHL did seek a mediator, but the union said that the league ended mediation a mere three days into the process. "Each province implements laws for a reason," Schultz said. "These are the guidelines in Alberta and if they weren’t followed, for whatever reason, or if we can help out anyway to change the way negotiations are going (we will). We’re just looking at different avenues, so we can get back onto the ice."

Although Nick Schultz was initially shocked when the Minnesota Wild traded him on Monday, he's looking forward to playing with Edmonton.

Schultz was drafted by the Wild in 2000 and he ended up playing in 743 games with Minnesota. He was so surprised to find out that he had been traded, that at first he thought Wild GM Chuck Fletcher was joking. However, Schultz was an Oilers fan as a kid and now he's excited to be part of the young up-and-coming squad. Schultz is a defensive defenseman, which is what the Oilers needed, but he consequently doesn't have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

The Minnesota Wild have traded Nick Schultz to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Tom Gilbert.

Schultz has scored his first goal of the 2011-12 campaign on Sunday. This has been a bad season for him offensively, even by his standards and we don't see him having any fantasy value despite the change in scenery.

Nick Schultz netted his first goal of the 2011-12 campaign on Sunday.

Schultz now has three points in 62 games. He's known primarily for his defensive abilities, but even by his standards, that point production very low. He had three goals and 17 points in 74 contests last season.

Nick Schultz played in his 700th NHL game on Thursday.

Schultz made his NHL debut at the tender age of 19. The 29-year-old was originally thought to be an offensive defenseman but that never happened as he has scored no more than six goals or 20 points in his best NHL seasons. "You look around, to be in one spot your whole career, I'm pretty blessed. Couple years left -- hopefully -- on my contract," Schultz said, chuckling at the "hopefully." "I've been fortunate. I enjoy it here, my family enjoys it here." Congratulations to Nick on the accomplishment.

Nick Schultz, who couldn't complete last season because of post-concussion syndrome, has been given a clean bill of health and is ready to return to the Wild for his 10th season.

The plan is for Schultz to pair with newcomer Mike Lundin, a Minnesota native signed as a free agent by the Wild in July. Minnesota's other defense pairings, by the way, will be Greg Zanon and Marek Zidlicky and Clayton Stoner with Jared Spurgeon,

Schultz has been out for some time already. Wild officials confirmed he will be out for the rest of the season. Hopefully he can recover fully and be back for the start of next year.

Nick Schultz did not miss any games with his head injury.

Schultz said that he began to have trouble seeing on Saturday after being hit in the first period by Jamal Mayers and his vision became progressively worse into the second period when he finally called it a night. But the symptoms only lasted a day and Schultz managed to play on Tuesday. He has three goals and 13 points in 46 games with 30 penalty minutes and a plus-one rating, making him a sixth defenseman at best in the deepest of leagues.

Schultz left Saturday's game with a possible head injury. He has three goals and 13 points in 45 contests this season.

Nick Schultz skated on Sunday and may be well enough to play on Tuesday in Chicago.

Schultz suffered a possible head injury on Saturday during the second period and did not return, but it is great news for the Wild and Schultz's fantasy owners as he is on the ice Sunday. Stay tuned for further updates as the Wild travel from San Jose to Chicago for Tuesday's contest.
