Jason Chimera tickled the twine for the Capitals in their 2-1 shootout win against the Panthers on Saturday night.
Chimera’s goal was his first point of the season. Though he had a solid night with five shots on goal and two penalty minutes, he’s nothing but a depth forward for Washington. Eric Fehr and Joel Ward picked up the helpers. Oct 18 - 11:44 PM

Jason Chimera will serve as an alternate captain for Canada at the World Hockey Championship.

He registered 15 goals and 42 points in 82 games with Washington this past season. The tournament begins on Friday when Canada plays France.
May 8 - 4:21 PM

Jason Chimera potted his 14th goal of the season in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Boston.

Rookie forward Evgeny Kuznetsov had Washington's other marker in the loss. Mike Green picked up just his second assist in his last 11 outings in the contest.
Mar 29 - 3:24 PM

Jason Chimera had a goal and two assists Sunday.

The three point night gives Chimera 12 goals and 29 points in 56 games this season. He really does not have overall value in fantasy pools as there are too many similar type players and Chimera does not distinguish himself in any one category in traditional pools.
Feb 3 - 10:22 AM

Jason Chimera scored his 10th goal of the season in the Caps’ 2-1 loss to New Jersey Friday night.

Chimera’s goal was the only one Washington has been able to muster without their captain Alex Ovechkin for the past two games. Chimera also has 14 assists this season to make for 24 points through 51 games.
Jan 24 - 9:33 PM

The Washington Capitals are countering some of the New York Rangers' speedier forwards by bumping Jason Chimera up to top six on Sunday.

Chimera has nine goals and 23 points in 48 games this season. He's most valuable in leagues with hits, as he has a healthy 85 in 2013-14.
Jan 19 - 1:51 PM

Jason Chimera was the only Capitals player to find the net as Washington fell to the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 (SO) on Sunday.

It was Chimera's first tally since Dec. 21 (he's only had three since November began). He's had some fantasy value in specific formats before, but his offense hasn't been there this season.
Jan 12 - 6:21 PM

Jason Chimera has just two goals and an assist in 10 games this month.

Chimera enjoyed a solid start to the 2013-14 campaign, but it's not surprising that he slowed down. He has 19 points in 37 games and will probably end up with about 30-40 points by the end of the season.

Jason Chimera has agreed to a two-year/$4 million contract extension with the Washington Capitals.

Chimera's $2 million cap hit will represent only a mild increase on his current $1.75 million hit. The 34-year-old forward is off to an uncharacteristically good start with five goals and 11 points in 16 games.

Jason Chimera earned the NHL's third star of the week honor.

He generated six points, including four assists, in three games for the Capitals last week. Chimera racked up a career high of four points (one goal, three helpers) in a 7-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday. The 34-year-old forward has 11 points in 14 games thanks to his hot streak.

Jason Chimera had a goal and an assist in Washington's 3-2 loss to Vancouver Monday night.

Chimera now has goals in three straight games and seven points in 12 games. Center Mikhail Grabovski also scored for the Capitals.

Jason Chimera netted a goal for Washington in its 5-2 loss to Calgary on Saturday night.

The speedy winger now has goals in two straight games. With five points in 11 contests and little offensive upside, Chimera shouldn't intrigue fantasy owners. Aaron Volpatti scored his first goal as a Capital in the loss. Eric Fehr, Mike Green and Mikhail Grabovski had assists. Martin Erat finished a game-low minus-four.

Jason Chimera won't be suspended for his dangerous hit on Edmonton's Justin Schultz.

He shoved Schultz from behind and the Oilers defenseman crashed heavily into the end boards when he was chasing down a loose puck. Chimera received a minor penalty for boarding on the play. Schultz wasn't injured and he stayed in the game. Chimera has one goal, one assist and nine hits in six games this season.

Jason Chimera can become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

He will earn $1.7 million in 2013-14 and his current contract carries a salary cap hit of $1.75 million. Chimera produced 14 points in 47 games last year. In 2011-12, he notched career-highs with 20 goals and 39 points in 82 contests. If he wants to get an extension from Washington then he'll have to get back on track. The speedy veteran takes plenty of shots and he hits, but he may only be good for 20-25 points this year.

The Capitals' penalty kill helped propel them to a Game 1 win Thursday night.

The Capitals went down two men in the middle of the second period for 56 seconds and had close to four minutes of time on the penalty kill, but they killed it off. Minutes later the Caps scored twice in 46 seconds. "Anytime you kill a five-on-three, especially in playoffs, the momentum goes the other way, for sure," said Jason Chimera, who scored the team's third goal. "If they get a goal, they’re feeling it. If we get a kill, obviously the crowd gets into it or we get into it. Everyone’s pumped up. It’s a good way to create momentum for us."
