Jason Chimera’s two-point night helped the Capitals defeat the Canadiens 3-1 on Saturday night.
Chimera scored the Capitals' final goal in the third period and also assisted on Jay Beagle’s second-period marker. Even though he has scored goals in three games in a row (plus points in four consecutive), we can’t recommend the 36-year-old. He has 10 goals and 19 points on the season, but has never been a major offensive threat. Evgeny Kuznetsov had the other goal, while Nate Schmidt and Tom Wilson chipped in with two helpers apiece. Jason Chimera registered two points in the Capitals’ 4-2 win against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Chimera, who scored and asissted, is off to a great start this season, for his standards, now with seven goals and 14 points in 23 games. The 36-year-old doesn’t really offer a ton of fantasy upside going forward, though. Justin Williams, Tom Wilson and Marcus Johansson got the other goals.

The Washington Capitals dropped Tuesday's game to San Jose by a score of 5-0.

The Capitals were without Alex Ovechkin (personal reasons) in this one. 14 of Washington's skaters finished with a negative plus/minus rating and eight of those players finished minus-2. Those numbers are a little misleading though, as two of San Jose's five goals were scored into an empty net. Jason Chimera led all players with six shots on goal. He also had two penalty minutes.

The incident occurred near the tunnel from the ice to the Washington dressing room. The Capitals forward had no comment when asked about it after the game. It remains to be seen if the NHL will say or do anything before Game 7.

Jason Chimera will be scratched for his second straight game as his Capitals take on the Jets.

If this is a new trend, it's hard to see where he'll fit into the lineup with just five goals, 12 points, and 90 hits through 54 games this season.
