Jason Chimera has yet to score.

The former Capital started the season off on the top line with John Tavares and Andrew Ladd but failed to perform. Chimera had 20 goals and 40 points last season but 25-30 seems a more likely goal for the 37-year-old veteran.
Oct 30 - 9:15 AM

Jason Chimera skated on the top line during Tuesday's practice.

That's a surprising position for Chimera, but it's a distinct possibility after the Islanders decided to waive P.A. Parenteau, who was then claimed by the New Jersey Devils. Chimera has never recorded more than 42 points in a single season and he's 37 years old so it's hard to be upbeat about his prospects of doing better than that in 2016-17. That being said, if Chimera really does end up consistently playing alongside John Tavares and Andrew Ladd then he will at least be worth keeping an eye on.
Oct 12 - 9:36 AM

Jason Chimera will replace Matt Martin on the Islanders depth chart.

The Islanders signed Chimera to a two-year contract worth $4.5 million and the 37-year-old is excited to be playing in Brooklyn. "They’re knocking on the door every year, and hopefully I can help get them over the hump," Chimera said. "I’m one of those guys that wants to win a Stanley Cup pretty badly, so I think it’s going to be a good fit going forward." Chimera had 20 goals and 40 points last season in Washington but don't expect that kind of production out of the bottom-six forward this season.
Jul 2 - 9:43 AM

The New York Islanders have signed Jason Chimera to a two-year contract.

Chimera wanted to stay in Washington but when the Capitals failed to come to a deal with the veteran, he moved on to divisional rival, the Islanders. Chimera had 20 goals and 40 points last season so he has some fantasy value as he also can play on the power play. It's a great signing for the Islanders.
Jul 1 - 1:13 PM

Jason Chimera believes he will be back with the Capitals next year.

"I still think I'm going to be back," Chimera said. "I'm not confident in anything. In this game, I think you're not guaranteed anything to be back. I want to be back. You don't think of playing anywhere else. You know the business side of it, but I still don't think I'm going to play anywhere else, but you'll see what happens, right?" The 37-year-old winger still skates as quickly as any player on the team and the Capitals want to be faster in 2016-17. The potential unrestricted free agent also had 20 goals and 40 points in 82 games this past season.
May 16 - 5:25 PM

Jason Chimera can become an unrestricted free agent in July, but he wants to stay with the Capitals.

"I've been here a long time," Chimera said. "I wouldn't expect to be anywhere else next year, too. I think it's just that you want to win with these guys right now, and whatever happens next year is what happens next year." GM Brian MacLellan was asked about Chimera before the Feb. 29 trade deadline and he said there hadn't been contract talks at that time. The 37-year-old forward registered 20 goals and 40 points in 82 games in 2015-16. He has added two points in 11 playoff contests.
May 10 - 1:42 PM

Jason Chimera registered an assist in Washington's 4-3 overtime win against the Penguins in Game 1 on Thursday.

It was Chimera's first assist and second point of the 2016 playoffs. During the regular season he had 20 goals and 40 points in 82 games.
Apr 29 - 11:15 AM

Jasno Chimera scored the Game 2 winner on Saturday.

It was deflection from 101 feet out that somehow got past the Flyers Steve Mason. It was Chimera's sixth winning goal in the post-season, tying him for the Capitals lead with Peter Bondra, one ahead of Alex Ovechkin. Chimera had a good regular season as he hit the 21 goal mark for only the second time in his career as he also chipped in with 21 assists.
Apr 17 - 10:12 AM

Jason Chimera has reached the 20 goal mark for the second time in his career.

Chimera picked up the momentous tally during Saturday's 5-1 win over St. Louis, leaving him just one goal shy of setting a new high for himself. As is, he has 40 points this season.
Apr 10 - 1:38 AM

Jason Chimera now has points in three of his last five games.

Believe it or not, the veteran forward now has 19 goals and 39 points through 77 games this season as well. Well in line with his career averages.
Apr 2 - 1:52 AM

The NHL has fined Jason Chimera $5,000 for hitting Philadelphia's Shayne Gostisbehere with the end of his stick after the play was called dead.

Gostisbehere and Chimera were skating around the net well after the end of play when Chimera nailed Gostisbehere. Chimera continued to skate away while Gostisbehere fell to the ice. That $5,000 fine will go against the $2 million Chimera is set to earn this season.
Mar 31 - 5:23 PM

Jason Chimera’s two-point night helped the Capitals defeat the Canadiens 3-1 on Saturday night.

Chimera scored the Capitals' final goal in the third period and also assisted on Jay Beagle’s second-period marker. Even though he has scored goals in three games in a row (plus points in four consecutive), we can’t recommend the 36-year-old. He has 10 goals and 19 points on the season, but has never been a major offensive threat. Evgeny Kuznetsov had the other goal, while Nate Schmidt and Tom Wilson chipped in with two helpers apiece.

Jason Chimera scored his ninth goal of the season as the Washington Capitals edged the Hurricanes 2-1 in Carolina Monday night.

It was the Caps' sixth consecutive victory. The Capitals (25-6-2) are 13-1-1 in their past 15 games. Chimera's goal, at 12:41 of the second period, gave the Caps a 2-0 lead. High-scoring defenseman John Carlson assisted on Chimera's goal, giving him 21 assists on the season. Washington's opening goal, at 15:52 of the first period, was scored by Michael Latta, his third of the season.
Mon, Dec 21, 2015 10:13:00 PM

Jason Chimera registered two points in the Capitals’ 4-2 win against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Chimera, who scored and asissted, is off to a great start this season, for his standards, now with seven goals and 14 points in 23 games. The 36-year-old doesn’t really offer a ton of fantasy upside going forward, though. Justin Williams, Tom Wilson and Marcus Johansson got the other goals.
