It looks as if Florida GM Dale Tallon sees Radim Vrbata on his team's second line alongside Vincent Trocheck and possibly Henrik Haapala.

Vrbata will also get plenty of power-play ice time. Trocheck and Vrbata could make a very nice combination and could thrive as they will not have to face the oppositions' top checking lines as that will be reserved for Aleksander Barkov's number one unit. Keep Vrbata in mind during the middle of your draft next season.
Jul 2 - 9:48 AM

The Florida Panthers have signed Radim Vrbata to a one-year deal.

Vrbata will earn $2.5 million in base salary and he could make another $1.25 million in performances bonuses. He can still score in the NHL and this could be a very good signing by the Cats. Vrbarta, who scored 20 goals and registered 55 points with the Coyotes in 2016-17, will almost certainly line up as a top-six forward, meaning he will be centered by either Aleksander Barkov or Vincent Trocheck. Not a bad place to be.
Jul 1 - 2:47 PM

Pending UFA Radim Vrbata could still end up signing an extension with the Arizona Coyotes.

Vrbata will be free to sign with anyone as of July 1st, but according to beat reporter Craig Morgan, the door hasn't been shut on a potential return. The 36-year-old had a solid 20 goals and 55 points in 81 games. The Coyotes decided against trading him away at the deadline, so letting him walk for nothing would be a bit silly on their part.
Jun 27 - 9:03 PM

If Radim Vrbata does re-sign with the Coyotes, it will just be on a one-year deal.

Vrbata has already stated that he wants to return for the 2017-18 campaign, but perhaps he doesn't want to make a commitment beyond that. He had 20 goals and 55 points in 81 games in 2016-17, so it's likely that the Coyotes and other squads will be interested in his services.
Apr 10 - 3:03 PM

Radim Vrbata intends to play in 2017-18.

Vrbata, who will turn 36 in June, will need to sign a new contract as his current deal expires this summer. "There wasn't just one day where I said, 'OK, you're playing,'" Vrbata said of his decision. "It was more throughout the season, the feeling was that I can still do this and continue and be important to the team in some way and just enjoy being around the guys and around the people that are around the team. Then we talked as a family what we want to do. The oldest (son) wants me to play, so that had something to do with it. And, yeah, we just feel like we have one more year in us." He has 20 goals and 55 points in 80 games this season.
Apr 8 - 10:05 AM

Radim Vrbata picked up two goals to help Arizona get past the Canucks 4-3 on Thursday.

Vrbata goals were his team leading 19th and 20th markers of the season. The points snapped a three game point-less streak. The 35-year-old has 55 points in 80 games. Max Domi picked up two assists in the win. Alex Burmistrov and Luke Schenn scored the other goals.
Apr 7 - 1:03 AM

The Coyotes will get Radim Vrbata (lower body) back on Thursday.

Vrbata wasn't able to play on Tuesday. He has 18 goals and 53 points in 79 games this season.
Apr 6 - 3:06 PM

Radim Vrbata won't play Tuesday because of a lower-body injury.

He leads the Coyotes with 18 goals and 53 points in 79 games this season. Arizona also won't have Oliver Ekman-Larsson (personal) in the lineup, so the team won't have their most productive player and their top defender against Dallas.
Apr 4 - 1:25 PM

Radim Vrbata is set to play his 500th game with the Arizona Coyotes on Monday against the Nashville Predators.

He is set to become the 15th player in franchise history, and 7th player in team history to achieve this. After a sub par season with the Canucks, Vrbata has bounced back this year with 51 points in 71 games. If he chooses to continue playing next season, he will likely get a raise on his $1,000,000 salary.
Mar 20 - 7:02 PM

Radim Vrbata has recorded a minimum of one point in 14 of his last 18 games.

Vrbata has six goals and 16 points in that 18-game span. He's up to 17 goals and 51 points in 70 games, which is nearly double his point total from his rough 2015-16 campaign.
Mar 17 - 9:06 AM

Radim Vrbata will become the 310th player in NHL history to play in 1,000 games on Thursday against the Senators.

"I've played half of my career here and I'm glad it worked out to where I get to play this game in front of Coyotes fans," Vrbata told Jerry Brown of He boasts 274 goals and 602 points during his long career in which he's spent just shy of half of in the Coyotes organization. Over that span he's lit the lamp 152 times with 336 points in 493 games with a howling desert dog on his chest. Congratulations to Vrbata on a remarkable accomplishment! Mar 9 - 6:45 PM

The Arizona Coyotes didn't end up trading Radim Vrbata.

Vrbata is playing on a one-year, $1 million contract, but that deal can escalate to $3.25 million with performance bonuses, including an extra $250,000 per playoff round reached. That might have scared up prospective buyers as it had to potential to put certain teams over the salary cap with bonus overages, which would then hurt them in 2017-18. For his part though, Coyotes GM John Chayka argued that Vrbata was kept in part to keep the Coyotes competitive for the rest of the season. "We’re still trying to grow here, have a competitive year and finish off the season well with our good young group," Chayka said. "Radim was a guy, unless it was a great offer, we were going to keep him." Arizona won't be making the playoffs given its 22-33-7 record.
Mar 2 - 7:22 AM

The bonuses on Radim Vrbata's contract might keep away some potential trade partners.

Vrbata will be owed an extra $250,000 per playoff round he participates in, which makes him a difficult player for teams close to the cap to fit in. Teams are allowed to exceed the salary cap via bonuses, but every bonus dollar that puts the club over the cap is counted towards their 2017-18 cap instead. In other words, while fitting Vrbata under the cap is possible for this season, for certain potential buyers the decision to acquire them could make assembling their team more difficult for in 2017-18.
Feb 27 - 6:37 PM

Radim Vrbata hit the 600 point mark for his career on Sunday.

He got it with the winning goal with 18.9 seconds remaining as the Coyotes picked up a rare win. He has a nine game scoring streak and has four goals and 11 points during that time. Vrbata had a horrible season in Vancouver last year with only 13 goals and 27 points in 63 games but he has really come on this season with 15 goals and 46 points in 61 contests to date. He is another prime candidate to be traded from the Coyotes and every team should be interested in his scoring prowess.
