Radim Vrbata and his agent fielded a number of offers before the winger decided to sign with the Vancouver Canucks.
The team Vrbata left, the Arizona Coyotes, were among the suitors for his services, but it's clear their offer was far less lucrative than the one he settled on. "We both tried really hard to find something if something would work," said Vrbata. "Over 24 hours, I don't know if you'd say we were close but we had something I would consider even though it was less money and if it got out, some people would think I was crazy." The change of scenery should be positive for the forward provided he lines up alongside the Sedins, as expected. Jul 3 - 7:57 PM

Radim Vrbata expects to get a chance to play with Daniel and Henrik Sedin in Vancouver, according to his agent Rich Evans.

"I guess he's going to have to earn the spot but the opportunity is hopefully there for him to do that," Evans said. "The twins play a style of game that is well suited to the style that Radim plays, which is pitch and catch where they move the puck very quickly. The twins are both smart players and he is hoping to recapture some of the success he had when he was playing with Ray Whitney down in Phoenix." He's also projected to add some scoring punch to the Canucks' power play, which finished 26th in the league last season. Vrbata potted 10 goals with the man advantage in 2013-14. If he clicks with the Sedins, he has the potential to flirt the 60-point mark.
Jul 3 - 2:08 PM

Jim Benning continued his aggressive off-season maneuvering Wednesday night by securing the services of top free agent forward Radim Vrbata for a two year term.

Vrbata is 33 years old and is still a formidable top six forward, scoring 20 goals and notching 51 points with the Coyotes last season. The 6’1, 194 pound Czech had a career high 62 points in 2011-12, and he will fill a desperate need for scoring in Vancouver next season. TSN's Darren Dreger reports that the deal is worth $10 million over two years.
Jul 2 - 8:59 PM

The market for Radim Vrbata is heating up.

With the market for wingers capable of playing on a scoring line drying up, five teams are reportedly pushing hard to land Vrbata. He had 20 goals and 51 points in 80 games last season, which makes him one of the scoring leaders among those that are still unrestricted free agents.
Jul 1 - 3:11 PM

Radim Vrbata has had "more than a handful" of teams contact him.

Vrbata is set to become an unrestricted free agent. The Arizona Coyotes are still interested in bringing him back, but it seems likely that they will be outbid.
Jul 1 - 8:24 AM

Radim Vrbata is garnering a lot of interest around the league, and will likely be priced out of Arizona.

General manager Dave Maloney said that he doesn’t expect any of the team’s unrestricted free agents to return, though Fox Sports Arizona’s Craig Morgan said not to "count out" Vrbata just yet. It’s hard to believe the Coyotes will outbid another team, especially when the market is so thin and when Maloney expects Vrabata will command "substantial offers." Vrbata made $3 million last year, and he’s proved to be a solid bet for at least 20 goals and around 50 points.
Jun 28 - 11:06 PM

Radim Vrbata is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Vrbata has bounced around the NHL after being a seventh round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 1999, but has enjoyed most of his success in the NHL as a member of the Coyotes. He has 67 goals and 141 points in his last three seasons, playing in 191 games. Look for the Coyotes to re-sign him as he is likely comfortable in Phoenix and with coach Dave Tippett.
Jun 22 - 8:45 AM

Radim Vrbata and the rest of the Coyotes were held off the scoresheet in Thursday's 2-0 loss to Nashville.

Vrbata seems to be missing the services of linemate Martin Hanzal since he has recorded one measly assist over his last six games. He registered three shots on goal in a losing effort.
Apr 11 - 12:47 AM

Radim Vrbata recorded an assist in Phoenix's 3-2 shootout win versus the New Jersey Devils.

Vrbata has 20 goals and 29 assists in 72 games this season. He's previously reached the 50-point mark twice in his career.
Mar 28 - 10:40 AM

Radim Vrbata scored a goal in Phoenix's 2-1 win over Florida Thursday night at Jobing.com Arena.

It was Vrbata's fifth goal in his last eight games and he now has 20 goals with 28 assists in 68 games this season. Antoine Vermette scored the other goal for the Coyotes.
Mar 21 - 3:46 AM

Radim Vrbata registered an assist in Phoenix's 4-3 victory over Los Angeles.

It was Vrbata's 28th assist of 2013-14, which is just one shy of his career-high, set in 2007-08 and 2010-11. He also has 19 goals in 67 games this season.
Mar 18 - 10:33 AM

Radim Vrbata had a hand in every Coyotes goal as Phoenix downed Florida 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Vrbata had a goal and two assists in the victory, giving him 19 goals and 46 points on the campaign through 64 games.
Mar 11 - 10:45 PM

Radim Vrbata recorded a goal in Phoenix's 3-2 loss to the Capitals on Saturday night.

Vrbata now has goals in two straight games. With 18 goals on the season, it's unlikely he'll get close to his career-high of 35, but he should eclipse the 20-goal mark for the fourth season. Brandon McMillan also scored for the Coyotes. Keith Yandle picked up assists on both goals.
Mar 8 - 10:02 PM

Radim Vrbata scored two goals in Phoenix's 5-2 win over Montreal Thursday evening.

Vrbata has five goals in his past nine games and enjoyed being paired with new Coyote and fellow Czech Martin Erat, who was plus-2 and appeared to give the offense a lift. Vrbata now has 17 goals and 25 assists in 61 games this season. Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson both had a strong night with a goal and an assist, while Mike Ribeiro added two helpers in the victory. Lauri Korpikoski also scored for the Coyotes.
Mar 7 - 2:58 AM

Radim Vrbata registered three goals in his last four games before the Olympic break.

He had one goal in 17 contests before that. "Those games before I had the same chances or maybe even better chances, and they wouldn't go in in the situation it was 1-0 or 2-1, so you know the goal would help the team to a 3-1 lead or a deciding goal," Vrbata said. "So hopefully they will start going in again." He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer and he's unclear on what will happen with the Coyotes. Vrbata wasn't invited to take part in the Winter Olympics, so he'll use the time off to rest.
