Kapanen scored on the power play, his seventh goal on the season. Ed Jovanovski and Joel Perrault assisted on Kapanen's first period marker.

Niko Kapanen is fitting in well on the Coyotes' fourth line.

He has been skating alongside Daniel Winnik and Craig Weller and playing well. Despite the fact that Phoenix coach Wayne Gretzky is thrilled with his fourth line's play, Kapanen, Winnik and Weller have no fantasy value.

Niko Kapanen is happy to be out of Atlanta and in Phoenix.

"In Atlanta, I really didn't have any role all season and I didn't get into the team," Kapanen said. "The coaches didn't like my style of play so much and I didn't play any special teams." Kapanen had four goals and 13 points in 60 games in Atlanta. Expect better stats in Phoenix.

The Phoenix Coyotes have claimed Niko Kapanen off waivers from Atlanta.

Kapanen was supposed to add offense for the Thrashers this season. Maybe he will be helped by the move to Phoenix where there is a lot less pressure as the Coyotes are not going to make the playoffs, but somehow we doubt it. Do not expect Kapanen to improve his stats the rest of the season and therefore he is not worth picking up in fantasy pools.

Niko Kapanen was a healthy scratch on Saturday.

The 28-year-old was expected to provide offence for the Thrashers this season, but has managed only one goal and five points in 21 games despite having talented wingers to play with. He should not be active in any fantasy format right now, and it is looking like he may not be a big part of Atlanta's plans moving forward.

Atlanta coach Bob Hartley indicated that Niko Kapanen will start Saturday night's game centering a line featuring Marian Hossa and Slava Kozlov.

Needless to say this is a huge boost to Kapanen's fantasy value. Hartley likes to switch up his lines, so consider this an audition that may be short-lived unless the unit develops immediate chemistry.

Niko Kapinen was expected to get more playing time with the move to Atlanta, but is getting much less.

He has played less then five minutes in each of the last two games. "We have a lot of options down the middle," Waddell said in reference to Steve Rucchin, Glen Metropolit, Bobby Holik and Jim Slater. "... Kappy's going to have to earn what he gets. The team's having success." If you are currently holding on to Kapanen we recommend you look to the waiver wire immediately.

Niko Kapanen played alongside Marian Hossa in the first exhibition game.

It is hard to predict whether this is a sign of things to come, as coach Bob Hartley said, "Don't even try to keep track of lines." We will still try. Kapanen showed some skill and notched a power-play goal during the game. He is a small, but highly skilled center that would do well to play beside the bullish Hossa.

Niko Kapanen may play on the second line in Atlanta, alongside Marian Hossa and Slava Kozlov.

While line combinations are far away at the moment, there is a distinct possibility that Kapanen could play on an offensive line rather than the third line checking role he had before. Bobby Holik was the checking center last season, and he may stick to that role this season. It will be worth keeping an eye on the situation in training camp. A new role could increase Kapanen's value dramatically.

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed Niko Kapanen to a 2-year, $1.7 million contract.

Kapanen came to the Thrashers in late June when Atlanta traded Jaroslav Modry and Patrik Stefan to the Dallas Stars. He will likely be the team's third line center, and a long-shot to help your fantasy squad.
