Kurt Sauer (upper body) skated on Monday and Tuesday.
Sauer has been out since the season opener and he was suffering from headaches. "It's been a little too long already ... You always have to keep putting a day out there for yourself, so I'm hoping a week to 10 days," Sauer said about his potential return to the lineup. "That's what I'm hoping for because I've been on the ice two times in a row, and as long as there's not setbacks, I should be able keep going and get better and better and get more and more in shape." Sauer is a very good rearguard in real hockey but has little value in fantasy hockey. Thu, Nov 5, 2009 09:16:00 AM

Sauer underwent testing on Friday but the results are not known at this time. Sauer is a solid blueliner in real hockey but has little, if any, value in fantasy pools.

Kurt Sauer played in his third game since returning from a foot injury, but admits he is still not 100 percent.

The rugged defender missed 14 contests due to the injury and probably came back too early, according to coach Wayne Gretzky. "I feel like my head wants me to get there, but my body's not getting there yet," Sauer said. "That's the way it goes early in the season, and hopefully I'll get that back as early as possible." Despite his difficulties it is likely he will remain in the Coyotes' lineup. Sauer earned an assist and a plus-3 rating against the Kings on Saturday.

Kurt Sauer returned to the Phoenix line-up in Monday's contest with the Oilers.

He had missed the past 14 games with an injury. Sauer logged nearly 17 minutes in ice time in the 3-1 loss to Edmonton. With just four points in 43 games, he is not a viable fantasy option.

Kurt Sauer will be a game-time decision on Monday.

Sauer has missed the last 14 games because of a lower-body injury. "I've had two practices where I've felt reasonably OK, so right now I'm basically at the point of playing a game pretty soon," he said on Monday morning. "Whether it's today or Thursday, we don't know yet. It's a game-time decision."

There is no timetable set for Kurt Sauer's return to the lineup.

He skated on Monday after the team practiced, but is still trying to recover from a concussion. "He's doing it all on grit and hunger to play," coach Wayne Gretzky said. "He's still in a good deal of pain. I'm not sure when he will be back, but he's giving it his best effort."

Kurt Sauer will be out of action for the next four weeks with a lower body injury.

He suffered the injury in the third period of Saturday's game against the Stars. "It is a big blow for us," general manager Don Maloney said. "(But) it will open up an opportunity for someone else to step in and play well." David Hale and Keith Yandle, who have been in and out of the Coyotes' lineup as healthy scratches this campaign, will be called upon to fill Sauer's spot on the blueline.

Coach Wayne Gretzky has beeen pleased with new Coyotes defensemen Kurt Sauer and David Hale.

The Coyotes left themselves with a big hole on the blueline when they dealt Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton to Florida in the off-season for number one center Olli Jokinen. But Sauer and Hale have played extremely well in the first two games of the season, both wins for the Coyotes. Both are solid defensemen who won't score a lot, so their fantasy value will be negligible.

Kurt Sauer has agreed to terms with the Phoenix Coyotes.

Th deal is four years long and will pay him $1.75 million per season. The Coyotes were in desperate need of defensive help after shipping Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton to Florida for Olli Jokinen. Sauer sat out 28 games this past season with a neck injury, but he should help stabilize the Phoenix defense corps. However, he does not have any fantasy value.

The Colorado Avalanche have begun contract negotiations with Kurt Sauer.

Sauer is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. "I've had one conversation so far with the Avs in regards to Kurt," his agent Ben Hankinson said. "I think we probably will talk again around draft time. There's nothing significant to report so far. They have expressed interest to bring him back. I guess we'll know more as we get closer to July 1. I hope it works out. I wouldn't say 100 percent that their intentions are to bring him back. It depends, obviously, on the money and Joe (Sakic) and everything else - the other defensemen. I probably will know more after the draft." Sauer has no offensive fantasy value as he managed only a goal and six points in 54 games although he was a plus 17 last season.

The Colorado Avalanche have activated Kurt Sauer.

Sauer has been out of the Avs lineup since suffering whiplash and a concussion on Nov. 30. The defensive defenseman should not be in anyone's fantasy lineup, but he will be a nice addition for the Avs blueline.
