Martin Erat dislocated his left elbow in Game 4 of the Capitals' first-round series against the Rangers.
The winger was injured in a collision with Alex Ovechkin and the Rangers' Derek Stepan. This won't be an issue heading into next season; in fact, Erat said he would've been ready for Round 2 if the Capitals had advanced. "I feel better," Erat said. "It’s kind of sad, you know, when I was getting ready to go back and I’m not going to be able to." May 15 - 9:39 PM

Martin Erat (arm) is not skating Saturday morning with his teammates.

That all but settles it. Erat will not play Sunday night in Game 6. If the series is extended to seven games with a Caps' loss there is no guarantee Erat will play Monday either.
May 11 - 1:41 PM

Washington Capitals head coach Adam Oates said that it's at least "possible" for Martin Erat to play another game in the team's first-round series against the New York Rangers.

His return for Game 6 seems unlikely, however. With zero points in four playoff games and three in nine regular season contests as a member of the Capitals, it's not as if he's really a make-or-break player for his new squad.
May 11 - 1:26 PM

Martin Erat won't play in Friday's contest even though he is feeling better.

He appeared to hurt his wrist or forearm in Game 4 and coach Adam Oates wouldn't discuss the results of his MRI. Consider him day-to-day for now.
May 10 - 1:21 PM

Coach Adam Oates is waiting for the results of Martin Erat's MRI after he left Wednesday's game with an apparent injury to his left wrist or forearm.

It doesn't look like he will available for Game 5 on Friday thought. Erat left Wednesday night's game after playing just six shifts for 4:42 of ice time.
May 9 - 3:08 PM

Martin Erat left Game 4 on Wednesday night after landing on his left arm following a collision.

Erat was injured in a collision with teammate Alex Ovechkin and Rangers forward Derek Stepan as the Rangers forward was on a breakaway. Ovechkin nailed Stepan but also got a piece of Erat, who was also trying to stick the puck away. All three players fell, but Erat took the brunt of it as he landed on his forearm/wrist area, leaving in a lot of pain. The Capitals say he is questionable to return.

May 8 - 8:32 PM

Martin Erat recorded his first goal in a Washington Capitals uniform Tuesday night in a 5-1 win over Toronto.

He also added an assist after he went pointless in his first three contests with the Capitals since being acquired from Nashville. Alex Ovechkin remained red hot with a goal and an assist of his own in the contest, while Mike Ribeiro, John Carlson and Mike Green contributed two assists apiece.
Apr 16 - 10:24 PM

Martin Erat returned to the Caps' lineup Saturday after missing three games with a lower-body injury.

Erat was a non-factor in his return Saturday night. He played just over 15 minutes and finished the night with a minus-two rating. Erat usually hovers just below 60 points per season, but he's well below that pace during the lockout-shortened campaign. He has recorded four goals and 21 points in 39 contests this year.
Apr 14 - 10:36 AM

Martin Erat will be back in the Washington lineup Saturday night against Tampa.

He missed the last week with a lower-body injury but seems good to go against the Bolts. Activate him immediately.
Apr 13 - 1:16 PM

Martin Erat backed up reports that he's feeling better on Friday, although that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be in the lineup on Saturday.

He simply said, "We'll see." Considering how ugly his spill was a week ago, it's heartening that he could get back in time to shake off any pre-playoff rust. He's a marginal fantasy player, though.
Apr 12 - 1:55 PM

Coach Adam Oates is optimistic that Martin Erat (lower body) will be available to return Saturday against Tampa Bay.

Including Thursday morning, he has been on the ice for three straight days after suffering an apparent leg injury last Saturday versus Florida.
Apr 11 - 12:21 PM

Martin Erat (lower body) skated again Wednesday, but coach Adam Oates said the Capitals forward is still "a ways away" from returning.

"It feels better every day. I don't know what's the timetable, but trying to skate with it and see how it goes next couple days," Erat said. "I thought it's gonna be much worse. But first couple days it was pretty sore, but right now it feels pretty good." He was injured on April 6.
Apr 10 - 2:28 PM

Martin Erat (lower body) and Joel Ward (knee) will not play Tuesday night.

Erat was injured during Saturday's game against the Panthers when he was hit hard into the boards by Erik Gubdranson. There's no real timetable yet for his return so it's hard to say how long he'll be sidelined. Ward suffered a minor knee injury Sunday but it's apparently bad enough to sideline him for at least one game.
Apr 9 - 12:56 PM

Martin Erat left the game against the Panthers after being hit hard into the boards.

The Capitals are calling it a lower-body injury. The newly-acquired Capital had to be helped off the ice as he couldn't put weight on his right leg after Erik Gudbranson's hit. Erat's head also slammed into the boards, too. The Panthers defenseman received a five-minute major for boarding and game misconduct.
