The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Marc-Andre Bergeron to the Carolina Hurricanes for a seventh round pick and Adam Hall.
Bergeron has a goal and five points in 12 games this season. Those numbers might not be particularly impressive, but Bergeron is great with the man advantage and the Hurricanes are last in the NHL when it comes to power-play percentage. With that in mind, Bergeron might play often enough with Carolina to justify picking up in standard leagues. Apr 2 - 11:26 AM

It appears as if Marc-Andre Bergeron has a permanent seat in the Lightning press box this season.

He is not playing much and will not play Saturday against the Bruins. Bergeron, who was once a pretty fair offensive rearguard no longer has any fantasy value. If you drafted him, drop him immediately.

Feb 2 - 12:01 PM

Marc-Andre Bergeron claims he has recovered without limitations from his troublesome back injury that required surgery to repair.

The ailment forced him to miss 39 of the team's last 40 contests during the 2011-12 campaign. Bergeron had 24 points in 43 games last season. However, it should be noted that even if he gets clearance from team doctors his roster spot with the Lightning isn't a sure thing after the club added Matt Carle and Sami Salo as free agents this past summer.

Marc-Andre Bergeron will undergo season-ending back surgery.

Bergeron has been sidelined for 22 of the Lightning's past 23 games due to a bulging disk in his lower body. It has been affecting his sciatic nerve. Bergeron underwent surgery to deal with a similar injury in April 2009.

Marc-Andre Bergeron traveled to New York on Tuesday to see a doctor about his ailing back.

The defenseman has missed 20 of Tampa Bay's last 21 games with a back injury that is apparently affecting his sciatic nerve. "We're trying to find out what's the deal and get rid of it," said Bergeron. "I'm sure there's a way to get rid of it and resolve the situation." It isn't clear if he will play again this year.

Marc-Andre Bergeron (back) didn't travel with his teammates to Winnipeg, where the Lightning will begin a three-game road trip on Thursday night.

He might be seeing a different doctor for another opinion on his ailing back. Bergeron will miss his 17th contest in Tampa's last 18 games on Thursday. Coach Guy Boucher wants to focus on the task at hand and doesn't want to be distracted by waiting for players to return from injury. "For me, I hear a different sound to what it is and what it's going to be every day," he said. "I've stopped listening to be honest with you. Just tell me when he's ready. That's about it. He's been missing for so long now."

Marc-Andre Bergeron sat out his fourth consecutive game on Tuesday night, as he continues to battle a back issue.

He returned to the lineup last week against Los Angeles after missing nine contests, but he didn't feel right after the match and went back on the sidelines. Bergeron underwent some electrical therapy recently and although surgery might be a possibility, he isn't ready to make that call just yet.

Marc-Andre Bergeron was back in Tampa Bay's lineup on Tuesday night from a back injury.

He posted a minus-2 rating and two shots during his 13:16 of ice time versus Los Angeles. Bergeron missed nine consecutive games with the ailment. He busted out of the gate offensively this year, but has been ice cold of late with two points in his last 14 contests.

Marc-Andre Bergeron (back) is healthy enough to play on Saturday, but he needs more time to get back into game shape.

Bergeron has missed eight games because of an injury he feels that, in hindsight, he might have been able to avoid. Bergeron also suffered a back injury during the 2010-11 campaign, which led him to decide that he should cutback on his weight lifting. However, he didn't follow through with his own plan. "It's unfortunate and like I said, I should have known better," Bergeron said. "But at the same time, you always do things with the right intentions and sometimes the results are unfortunate. You're driving your car and you don't want to crash it, but sometimes it happens."
